“ Brand: MAC / mineral foundation / Type: Foundation / Skin type: for normal-dry skins. „
Being completely honest I used to think MAC was very overated and was not really interested in giving it a chance to prove me wrong....but after suffering with eczema on my face and being told to use a better quality foundation (also had a voucher for House of Fraser) I thought I would try the mineralize foundation for £22.50 (SPF 15, 30ml). As I went into the store the lady sat me down to colour match the foundation to my skin. This was fantastic as I normally spend about 20 minutes trying to find a suitable match.
After picking me my colour I got home in horror looking at this bottle of orange foundation - which I had paid £22.50 for.....I decided to try it on a night out and I was pleasntly surprised, I needed only a tiny bit of the foundation and it did not leave my skin orangey at all .....it blended with my skin perfectly and provided perfect coverage. After applying a small dusting of powder I was good to go and honestly this foundation lasted all night. I did not need to reapply ANYWHERE!
This is an absolute first for me after dancing all night I normally need to reapply but not with MAC!
The best thing about this foundation for me is that it has completely calmed down my eczema and covers up any redness I have without making me look too made up!
I absolutely love this foundation and will never use another product! A must have!
This Christmas I was eager to open a present off my sister because everyone had insisted I was going to love it. When I did finally get to the present, which had been packaged in a larger box with lots of selotape, I saw a small rectangular black box and knew immediately what it was....Mac foundation! Everyone was right, I did love it!
Mac is a premium brand of make up and as such they come with very high price tags. I had no idea of these really until my sister asked for some mac make up for her birthday last year and I took myself to Selfridges and almost died at the prices but dutifully picked her up some foundation and mascara for the grand total of around £35.00! I kept on telling her that it couldn't be THAT good but she insisted it was great and so on a later shopping trip she actually picked me up a little tester pot to try and I loved it and so it was a lovely gift to receive this Christmas.
The mineralise satin finish foundation comes in a classic black mac make up box with white writing. You can tell from the packaging that it is expensive, despite how simple it actually looks! This 30ml bottle of liquid foundation actually costs £22.50 and coming from a girl who spends around £8.00 on foundation it feels pretty luxurious!
When you open up the box you can take out the foundation bottle which looks like a kind of frosted glass, but you can see the foundation through the bottle. The bottle features a large black lid which has a pump sticking out of the front and the actual pump sits in the lid. What is great about this lid is that you can actually twist the top to lock in the pump so if you are carrying it in a make up bag it will not accidently get pumped and you end up with foundation all over your bag.
The mineralise satin foundation is designed to provide a low to medium coverage which gives your skin an ever so slightly luminous, healthy looking glow. It will give you a smooth satin finish and contains vitamins A, C and E to actually help protect your skin. It also has a SPF 15 within it which is good to know for the summer months.
Applying this foundation is so easy. I actually use my fingers though I know my sister uses a brush. I simply add some of the foundation to my finger and then blend it in to my face. The foundation goes on to your skin so smoothly and effortlessly that sometimes I find it hard to believe I am actually applying a foundation. It blends really well to my skin and there are no lines which is obviously brilliant! When I have finished blending the foundation into my face my skin does look healthy although there is a slight shine and because I am not overly keen on this I tend to add a little powder over the top as well.
The foundation lasts well throughout the day for me though I would say that as it feels so light on your skin you may feel that you want to touch it up at times. I don't really do this as the coverage is great, you just don't really feel like you have a full face of make up on whilst using this!
The best thing about this foundation for me is the fact that you need so little to cover your face. I have literally never known anything like it! From the small tester pot my sister brought home for me to try I actually got four applications and so I would certainly advise you ask for a sample of a foundation from a mac store before you buy as they will be sure to offer you this. I have only used my actual bottle I received for Christmas a handful of times as I cannot justify using £22.50 foundation on days when I am lounging around at home, even though I wear make up every day. Thankfully the bottle can last two years from opening!
One thing to be mindful of with this foundation is it bloody hurts if you get it in your eye! I know, I know...it isn't meant to go in your eye but sometimes it happens by accident and it stings really bad for a good few seconds! My sister says whenever she gets her mac mascara in her eye it is the worst thing ever so perhaps mac have some secret eye stingy ingredient! It is something to be aware of when applying your foundation.
