Advantages: Colour choice and blending. Works well with dry skin.
Disadvantages: Pricey
As any female will know a good concealer is a stable of any make up bag. Now I myself have tried so many different brands and types but it wasn't until I came across this offering from MAC that I could say I had found the best.
So why is this concealer so good? Firstly I'd like to explain if you are not familiar with MAC then you should know that instead of just having one or two different shades of concealer to choose from, as most other brands do; MAC actually have 15 different shades of concealer available in each different range. As you can imagine this makes it so much more likely that you will find a colour to match your skin tone. The range of colours is really varied as well and covers both light and dark skin tones so there really is a colour for everyone.
The concealer itself comes in a 5ml tube with a screw on top and a wand to apply to concealer to your face. The tube itself sounds quite small and also looks quite small when you see it (about 2 ½ inches long). However, I find that the concealer lasts a lot longer than you expect it to and seems to last me up to 6 months before I have to buy a new one.
I find that this concealer has an amazing effect when used under the eyes. Now I have tried the 'wonder' that is YSL's Touche Eclat but I would say that in comparison to this MAC concealer the YSL stick comes nowhere near. When you've chosen the right shade then applying the concealer is very easy. You can dab it along below your eyes and they lightly smudge it with your finger tips. Doing this I find blends the colour under your eyes to the same colour of the rest of your face. Therefore it is just fantastic for dark circles and tired eyes. I would really go so far as to say that this concealer can transform the look of your face by just using it below your eyes. It really evens out your skin tone without really having to use foundation.
I find the concealer also works really well for blemishes and spots on the face and again blends in really well to the surrounding skin tone. The texture of the make up is also very light and easily blended. It is not sticky and the way it rubs in makes it virtually unnoticeable on your face. It is not shiny but blends in with a matte finish. It is really is beautiful! Another added bonus of the moisturestick range is that it is great if you have dry skin. As many with dry skin will know sometimes using concealer can make your skin look worse as it clings to the dry patches. This does not occur with this concealer and can really work miracles for those with slightly dry skin like myself.
The only down side to this concealer which I could see may put some people off buying it is the price. The concealer is about £12 for one stick which is a lot more expensive than other brands. However, as I have said before I really believe that quality make up is worth paying a bit more for. This item is a must have for any make up bag and is definitely worth splashing out on; especially as it seems to last so long. I would recommend using the concealer with the MAC foundation of the same shade. Again because this matches so well to skin tone but that is another review in the making....
Overall I would definitely recommend this concealer to anyone who sees cover-up as a must have. This is a quality piece of make-up and you will really notice the difference when compared to cheaper brands. The choice of colours is unsurpassed and there really is a shade for everyone. Give this a try and you will not look back!
Summary: A beautiful concealer that is worth trying
