Advantages: Lasts ages and can create an inense colour

Disadvantages: With it being loose you are at risk if you dont have a steady hand

Mac Pigment

*****What is it*****
Mac Pigment is essentially an eye shadow that is in the form of a loose powder. It is supposed to be concentrated so that it creates a more intense effect. The ingredients also help it work into the skin better. The idea is that you vary the amount you blend depending on the intensity you want.

*****Range available*****
It comes in many different colours and I have pink (favourite colour!). Although this is called fuchsia in the range. It is a bright and electrifying pink and others in the range are equally as bold. That is the whole thing about MAC though it is so vivid and old and intense that it draw you into a strange little world and I cant help but buy several items. Mind you the counter assistants don't help with my purchasing as they are always helpful without being overly so and will try the products out on me and aren't like the ones on other make up counters!

Other colours include rose, violet, pink opal, copper sparkle, blue brown etc. In fact there are over 17 different colours to choose from so a good variety.

MAC say that the pigment does not streak or cake and that it is easy to blend and long lasting.

******Packaging*****
The size is 7.5 grams and it costs £15.00. It has the MAC writing on it and the plastic case with a black lid. The lid tightens on well which is good considering the pigment is loose powder and t would be disastrous if it were to spill out of the jar not only as its expensive but it is a bold pink colour and would make a big mess.

*****Use it*****
It doesn't come with a brush or applicator and its £15! However I did invest in a MAC eye shadow brush which is super duper to use. I find it is easy to blend into the eyelid area. You can also use your finger but you have to be extremely careful with the packaging as it has a little clear lid in the case to help protect the product. An unsteady hand opening and it will spill. An unsteady hand applying and you could look like a drag act too! A little bit is all you need to get a dash of colour and it does come out a rosy pink colour. It has a shine and sleekness to it and feels quite creamy considering it is a powder. I find this can look pretty dramatic with the minimal amount applied. It is definitely different and stands out makeup.

I have not used this as a day wear eye shadow as it is a tad too dramatic and I have softer pinks that I use by MAC and other brands. However this works well for a bold look for a night out. You could even take a smidgen of the stuff to highlight the cheeks if you didn't have a cheek highlighter as long as you used a steady hand! In a way it is a bit like the creme base colour except don't use on the lips!

******Recommend*****
I don't recall splashing out £15 for it. As I said earlier that MAC is an hour away from me in the UK or otherwise a shopping stop in the USA. Therefore when I do get near to a MAC store I tend to get excited and overcompensate for missing out. I then splurge on 4 or 5 items and sign away not realising the price. Having said that the £15 has gone a long way. As it is loose powder and so intense you need very little to get a bold effect. As I only use it on nights out and have other bold covers I therefore don't use it daily.

I would rate it well and rebuy but perhaps in another paler shade so I can use it in the daytime. I would say give it a whirl in a colour you like as the concept of it is great and it will save you money longer term as t goes further and is more intense.

Go to MAC website www.maccosmetics.co.uk to see where to buy in UK department stores or purchase online. They do a fab range of all types of make up that have tempted my purse over the years!

Summary: Create an intense colour for your eyes with this vivid pigment pot from MAC

I can't spend £15 on an eye colour, I'll have to stick to Dazzle Dust!
