Advantages: Too many to list

Disadvantages: None

It is products like this that really demonstrate why MAC has achieved the popularity it has within the makeup industry. I bought a pot of champagne coloured pigment for my wedding, to use as a base colour, and was still using it 12 months later. At £15 a pot it is not cheap but my goodness it was worth every penny! As I told my husband, it cost £15, or just over £1 a month if you consider how much use I got out of it. How can you argue with figures like that? It will be slightly cheaper now due to the VAT reduction.

I bought it from House of Fraser in the cosmetics hall. MAC products are difficult to get hold of instore in our area but they are stocked in Fenwick too and also online on the MAC website (www.maccosmetics.co.uk).

One of my bridemaids first introduced me to the wonder that is MAC and I have never looked back since. They have a reputation for being very expensive but I have found them no more so than other premium brand cosmetics.

The pigment is available in a huge (and frequently changing) range of colours. The colour I bought is no longer available unfortunately so in the near future I will be experimenting with different tones to see which I fancy next.

It comes in a 7.5g pot which does not sound like a lot of product for £15 but it goes a very long way. The pot is transparent plastic with MAC across the front in black lettering and a black screw-off lid. It is then packaged in a matt black cardboard box.

The makeup artist who did my wedding makeup applied it with a brush but I prefer to apply it with a clean finger as I find it gives a better blended effect that way. How I do it is that I screw off the lid and there is always a bit of pigment stuck to the underside so I gently press my finger on this and use my finger as the applicator, sweeping it across my whole eye right up to my brow line to create a subtle shimmery effect. Dipping a finger into the pot itself would mean far too much wastage and would not allow you to control the amount you apply very well as it adheres quickly to skin so your finger would be covered with far too much pigment.

The product is a loose colour powder which is highly concentrated to help it adhere to the skin. You only need to use the tiniest amount, it goes such a long way. You can change the amount you use to create a very intense effect or a subtle covering. I guess the way you use it would depend on which shade you purchase and where you use it (so you would use less of a pale tone like mine on upper eyes - just under the brows I mean - or a stronger colour to make a deeper effect on the lid). The product contains a soft shimmer which gives a lovely effect.

It is unbelievably easy to blend the product in with other colours to create a gorgeous smoky effect for an evening look. A MAC advisor will be happy to demonstrate how to do this and how easy it is. The effect you get is subtle and non-streaky. It does not look cakey or gather in the creases of your eyes the way lots of other eye colours do; the effect you get lasts for hours without separating or fading in patches. I use the eye primer underneath for very special occasions (such as my wedding) but it is fabuolous even when you don't use it.

I truly have nothing bad to say about this product, in my opinion it is the most amazing eye colour product I have ever tried (and I have tried a lot of products!).

Summary: If you are female and have not tried this, you must!
