Advantages: Thickens the lashes and makes them look pretty

Disadvantages: Can look clumpy and does flake off over time

I like to wear a lot of eye make up. I am lucky in that my lashes are already quite long but I like them to really stand out. I do sometimes wear false lashes and I like a mascara that get close to this look. I value Mac Cosmetics as a brand so I purchased Plush Lash with high hopes.

What does the product do?
The product promises to give the lashes extreme volume which leaving your lashes silky and flexible. It claims that you won't get any clumping or smuding and using a special brush, it promises to coat the extire lash, root to tip, above and below in one motion. As well as this, it claims that it will curl the lashes while also separating the lashes leaving it looking like you have a million lashes. It should leave your lashes looking longer, thicker and curvier giving you a pretty wide eyed look.

Packaging and Price
The mascara comes contained within a plain black tube which has little detailing apart from Mac written in white writing up the side. The wand is in the lid as expected and it has plenty of bristles making it look quite chunky and chubby. The bristles are set in a v shape with one side so that one side coats the lashes and the other side separates the lashes. The mascara is quite cheap by Mac's standards and will cost you around £14 per tube. It can be bought from department stores with a Mac counter such as Debenhams and also from a variety of online websites.

Application and Performance
The first hurdle with this product is the size of the wand. It is quite hard to work with until you get used to it as it is so big and chunky. It will touch the skin around the eye if you're not careful but once you get the hang of it, it's ok. The colour of the product is really dark black which is just how I like it to be. The lashes are coated easily and quickly, and the wand does give a really good coverage. As the coverage is so good, if you apply more than one coat, the lashes will look clumping and messy so be careful not to over apply the mascara. If used probably, it definitely makes my lashes look thicker and longer. It doesn't really curl the lashes but if used with an eye lash curler, the mascara holds onto the curl for quite a while.

It does separate the lashes to a degree but probably not as much as promises. The mascara looks fairly natural and it is ok for the day and it also translates well for night wear. The whole effect and colour of the mascara makes my eyes look pretty and awake. The mascara does stay on the eyes for ages but I do experience a bit of flaking beneath my eyes which unfortunately can make me look tired. It hasn't irritated my eyes or caused me to experience any discomfort, even when I am wearing my contact lenses. The mascara is easily and completely removed using my usual make up remover.

Conclusion
All in all, this is a good/average mascara which makes my lashes look thicker, darker and a bit longer. It is suitable for both day wear and night wear, and it will stay put for the duration. You can experience flaking and if you over apply, clumping and it doesn't separate the lashes as much as was promised. This mascara did the job but you can find mascaras for much cheaper that do a better job so I probably wouldn't repurchase this one.

Summary: An average mascara which thickens the lashes and makes them look pretty
