Normally I go for pink blushes as one beauty rule is that you should pick a blush which is the same colour and tone as your skin when you have just had a long hard work out and you have the flush to match! Therefore, all my blushes were pink but I decided to branch out and try something that would still look natural but give me the option to try new make-up looks. MAC are a brand famed for their colour cosmetics and providing professional quality products so I decided to try one of their blushes which are something of a cult product.
I have the shade "peaches" which is as the name suggests a beautiful delicate peach colour and comes in the sheertone finish. There are five finishes available - frost, matte, sheertone, satin and sheertone shimmer.
I think the best thing about this blush is the colour - despite having pink undertones this blush looks natural on me. I think it's just a universal tone which flatters most colourings and skin tones. I have worn it when I've been tanned and blonde as well as brunette and pail. Either way the blush looks natural yet still has a pop of vibrant colour.
In terms of application this product is very easy to use and goes on really smoothly. Even though it is a powder it is very finely milled and does not streak or high highlight skin imperfections. It is long wearing and once you have applied it in the morning you don't have to touch it up throughout the day. It also lasts a long time as you get a lot of product in the pan. I have had mine for a year, I used it every other day and I have not hit the pan yet!
This product is available from MAC for £18, even though this is a high quality product and performs very well ultimately I do not think it is worth the money. It was a nice indulgent treat but the high street brands offer blushes of similar quality. I will not be re-purchasing as there are now shades and finishes on the high street which mirror this one. I do love the product but I am just not a fan of the price tag hence the three star rating.
I'm in love with Mac and have tried quite a lot of different things from them over the last year, one was the powder blush, the shade 'dollymix' caught my eye so thought I'd give it a go and I've since bought the shade 'peaches'.
Mac is available in some department stores, online and there are also some Mac stores dotted about in the bigger cities. They have a very good website with clear descriptions and also swatches of the shades available which makes online shopping easier. There's nothing worse than choosing a colour online and then it turns up and is completely different to how you imagined it. I prefer when shopping for make-up going to the counter and seeing it for myself, even then mistakes can be made due to shop lighting etc.
* Colour for the cheeks and face.
* Various formulas.
* Different looks
Both the shades I have are in different finishes, 'dollymix' is a 'sheertone shimmer blush' and 'peaches' is just 'sheertone'. Both finishes are equally nice I guess it just depends on whether you'd prefer shimmer or not. I'm not a massive fan of shimmer on my face but I have to say the shimmer is very soft. The blush is extremely pigmented so you only need to apply a little. I've found the product to be very long-wearing and very easy to apply. The texture of the powder is smooth and silky and the colour is buildable depending on how dramatic you want it.
There are nearly 40 shades available in this range which is amazing! There are also 5 different finishes available:
* sheertone shimmer
I think the variety available from Mac is amazing! There is definately something for everyone!
The packaging is very simple as all Mac packaging is...the compact is black and the lid is clear which makes it easy to see which shade your picking up if you have more than one of these.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
The blushers are priced at £17.50 which isn't bad for a high-end brand, considering the product is very pigmented and lasts a very long time I'd be happy to pay this again.
I was very impressed with this blush and would not hesitate to recommend it!
I love a bit of Mac and have accumulated a lot of their products over the last year or so as I try to be a bit more brave and spruce my face up a bit on a day to day basis. On my last visit to the Mac store in London's Covent Garden my purchase was a little pot of their powder blush and I have been using it practically everyday since!
My blusher pot comes in a sleek, black compact with a clear lid so it is easy to see inside the colour of the powder and it contains 6g of powder blush. Looking inside the pot through the clear lid, the blusher looks quite simple and matte and doesn't have any look of shimmer/glitter although on the website it does seem to have this appearance! This pot only costs £17.50 which for a Mac product is actually really reasonably priced!
To apply this powder blush, I use a blusher brush which is not too large as the dimensions of the pot aren't that big. I simply sweep this lightly across the surface layer of the blusher and stroke across my cheeks in a light, effortless way so it doesn't look too full on and I don't look like a clown!
My powder blush is a shade called "Raizin" which although when looked at online looks a more brownish colour, so for buying blush from this range I would definitely advise to go to a store and get one of the experienced make up artists to try the colour out on your skin tone to check it suits you! My colour is actually quite a subtle deep red and when applied to my cheeks it gives a faint rosy glow which looks fabulous over my foundation and lasts all day. I am no makeup pro so I really just do a big cheesy grin and sweep this from my cheekbone lightly to my ear to give an even and lovely finished look. I don't use any finishing powder (although my friend is always recommending it to me!) and I find it looks fine as it is and doesn't need any more touch ups.
Overall I really love this Mac powder blush and I have had it a couple of months now and the pot is not going down! I am sure it will last me ages, as a little bit is really all I need at a time for a nice, effective hint of colour to my cheeks without going overboard. It is great quality as it sits perfectly over my foundation or BB Cream and I find the colour lasts pretty much all day so I don't need to keep topping it up. Mac do this powder blush in a variety of shades so there is definitely one for everyone! I would totally recommend this powder blush and would definitely be buying it again in future!
I have recently fallen head over heals with the mac products recently so i thought i would try one of their blushers. And as expected i loved this one too.
The blushes comes in a black hinged pot with a clear window enabling you to see the colour of the blush, with the brand name in black writing on the front I bought the blusher in Hot Nights as it is a gorgeous subtle pink colour bringing a natural colour to my cheeks.
I sweep my blusher brush gently over the powder and apply it to the apple of my cheeks, you only need a small amount of powder on your brush as it is very pigmented giving lots of colour with minimal powder. Once applied the blusher lasts all day, it does fade a little but it just makes it look more natural. It blends perfectly and evenly with other make up on your face, so does not leave random patches with more cover than other sections.
Overall i would recommend this blusher as it is a gorgeous colour but it is £19, a bit more expensive than i would have liked to spend on a blusher but it is worth it.
The information actually given by MAC for this blusher is pretty vague; but to be honest it is just MAC's bog standard, basic blush. I own the product in shade 'Melba'.
"Colour for the cheeks and face. Various formulas. Different looks." maccosmetics.co.uk (product description)
Although a basic product, it is indeed of exceptionally high quality. The powder is very highly pigmented, and a little goes a long way. It does not go flaky on the face, and does not look false. With my MAC blush brush I can apply this very easily to the apples of my cheeks to give a healthy glow. It lasts all day, and although a subtle colour, makes a real difference to the appearance of my finished make-up look. You can layer the colour to make a more intense appearance, or apply lightly to create a subtle look. It is entirely the users' choice, and the product is very versatile.
The pot in which the blush is stored is the usual MAC look - high quality black plastic with a clear window imprinted with the word MAC.
The lid fastens securely, but is easy to open and get to the product. I have never had any problems with the pot opening in my bag, or the plastic breaking, but I would still say to be careful as with any plastic it may shatter from impact, and you could end up with a blush disaster in your bag!
You get 6g of blush in a pot which costs £17.50. I think this is an excellent price as the product will last a very very long time and stay fresh. The quality will not wain, and the colour not fade. I highly recommend this product, and if you are looking for a new blush, please try this one!

As soon as I was introduced to MAC makeup, I instantly bought the powder blush to go with my foundation. You can't buy a foundation without blusher to add a natural flush to your complexion! The blusher I chose was 'Fleur Power'. There are over 40 different shades to choose from so you will definately find one to match your skin tone.
The blusher came packaged in a thin black cardboard box with a circle cut out on the front so you can see the colour of the blush before you buy it. The actual blusher itself comes in 6g in a circular container with a hinged lid. The blush is easy to apply with a brush, it is long-lasting and provides consistent color-pigmentation with a natural flushed look once applied. You only need a small amount of the blusher, the clown look isn't one to go for! The small portion gives cheeks a lovely warm glow which is not too heavy. I only apply mine once a day and it really does last. I have had mine for 11 months, which is great value for money for the £17 I paid for it. It doesn't seem to fade like cheaper blush from the likes of Rimmel.
I bought my MAC powder blush directly from the MAC store. You can buy this product direct from MAC either in store and their online shop. Even department stores such as Selfridges offer this product. Overall, I would definately recommend this product. Although it is expensive you are paying for the quality of the product and it lasts for a long time!
I was very lucky that when my sister went on holiday this year that she told me she would pick me up a mac blusher from the duty free in the airport. Up until my sister introducing me to mac I hadn't really been interested in the brand but I have since discovered that for the most part it is a superior brand. As it costs so much it is not something that I use all the time and more often than not I stick to my rimmel and such like for foundation but the mac powder blusher is something I use most days.
The blusher came packaged in a thin black cardboard box which has a cut out circle at the front where you can see the colour of the blusher. The packaging looks stylish and I have to say expensive despite its simplicity. Inside the box you have your powder blusher which is again packaged using black plastic and a clear plastic circle on the front to see the colour. The mac name is written on the clear plastic which is something that I like and I know that this sounds a bit silly but if I am using expensive make up I want people to know about it!
The clear plastic lid lifts up on a hinge to expose the 6g blusher. Now the colour that my sister chose for me is called desert rose and is a dark deep pink. To be honest it was not something that I thought I would actually wear always being a fan of bronzers for my cheeks but when I saw the colour on my sisters cheeks I knew it was a look which I liked. Applying the blusher is really easy and I simply rub my brush slightly on the blusher and then blow away any excess before applying it to my cheeks. Now I like to have a more subtle look on my cheeks than my sister and so I use very little of the product each time as it really does stand out otherwise. Using a small amount of this blusher I find that it gives my cheeks a lovely pink glow which does stand out but doesn't look too over the top. The blush will usually last me all day although will obviously fade a bit towards the end of a long day at work but I work thirteen hour shifts, I don't think I can expect to look immaculate at the end of that!
I have been using this blusher now since early July and you cannot tell that it has been used at all when you look at the powder, it is only because you can see all my foundation fingerprints all over the packaging that you know it isn't new! This powder blusher will last me certainly twelve months I would say which I think is excellent quality really and not bad value either when you look at it that way.
You can buy this product direct from mac online or in their stores which can often be found in Selfridges and such like for £17.00 which admittedly is quite a lot of money but I can assure you it will last really well and you would probably have no need to buy any other blusher for at least twelve months if you chose the right colour. They actually have forty shades to choose from online but I would recommend calling in to a shop to have a look if possible as it is often hard to make out the true colour from a picture.
Thank you for reading my review!
REASONS FOR PURCHASING
First of all, I'm a HUGE fan of MAC Cosmetics, so it was inevitable that I would try some of their blushes at some point. As someone who wears a heavy duty foundation most days, and therefore blots out any hint of a natural flush, a blusher is very much an essential for me.
What more could I want than a blush from MAC? They seem to have every type of finish, and every colour one could ever think of!
I buy most of my blushes from a MAC store (I work near a London MAC store), but MAC can also be bought from Debenhams (website or certain department stores) or from their own website.
Don't buy MAC from anywhere else. There is a phenomenal number of fakes on the market. Don't put anything on your skin when you don't know where it's come from! Don't take a risk with your health!
MAC describe their powder blushes as "Colour for the cheeks and face. Various formulas. Different looks."
The MAC blushes are a great size, with their standard (non limited edition) powder blushes coming in at 6 grams. They are in the trademark MAC sleek, black pots, with an easy to open catch and the blush sitting neatly in it's metal pan.
MAC blushes come in black cardboard packaging with a cut out so you can see what colour you're buying.
COLOUR / FINISH
I have a lot of these blushes, I don't think you can beat a classic powder formula for ease of application and a natural looking finish.
So many colours are available, from deep matte red to sheer light pinks and nudes. Peaches, nudes, plums, bronzes, pinks, reds... every colour you can think of, it's available!
All finishes are available too. I favour a matte finish, but you can get some gorgeous sheer, pearly finishes, satin finishes, frost finishes... they're all there!
The texture is as good as it gets. MAC make sure all their formulas are as good as they can be. These blushes glide onto your skin beautifully. You can use a little or a lot to achieve your desired look.
These blushes somehow manage to last the day, even when your foundation is starting to fade. I'd recommend a finishing powder such as MAC's prep and prime one, to make your blush last even longer.
A MAC powder blush will set you back £17. A lot for a blusher, but if there's a colour or texture you're after and haven't managed to get elsewhere, MAC is your brand!
Make sure you purchase your MAC from an official supplier of the brand, or chances are you'll end up with a fake.
These blushes are worth the high price tag. The quality is second to none, and the thought process that has gone into creating each one is mind blowing.
If you're a MAC addict like me, you'll want to build up your blush collection, and if you're new to the brand, then give one a try! A blusher will last much longer than say, a foundation, so it's a great way to buy a MAC product with a good value 'cost per wear'!
Despite the hype over MAC products, I am one of those people who have never really tried them, I think being a student the price tag has always put me off and not being able to purchase them locally anywhere I had never really bothered in seeking them out! This was until a birthday a couple of years ago...
That was until I recieved a MAC foundation, powder and blush for my birthday, it was fair to say I was extremely happy as of course I recognised the name and packaging, however, due to the fact I have never used a MAC product before I was unaware as to how good the products were.
As I recieved it for a gift, I am unaware as to the price, however after just looking them up I can see they vary between £10-£25, so I guess it depends where you buy it, obviously I expect shops like House of Fraser, etc to retail it at the higher end, compared to discount websites.
My blush was one of the limited edition 'Hello Kitty' ones. It looked very much the same as the one pictured above, except there was a hello kitty motif on the top of the lid (probably on the box too, however I have forgotten what that looked like) there was also a hello kitty motif in the actual blush.
The blush was a gorgeous colour, it was a coral pink colour which looked ever so slightly sparkly. There was also a small about this product, it was almost sweet, which was very pleasant and now, after using several other MAC products I recognise this smell with most of their products.
To apply I used my own blusher brush and applied across my cheeks the same way in what I would normally do. It created a lovely, soft colour against my cheeks and blended in well with my already applied foundation so it wasn't like I had a stripe across my cheek. The colour was quite subtle, which I very much liked, however, it was still noticable that I was wearing it as it gave my skin an extra 'glow'.
I don't have particuarly prominent cheek bones, however, when wearing this they did stand out more, which was nice as it added depth to my face and highlight my jaw line.
When applying the blush it did feel smooth and soft against my skin, I was also pleased to see that there wasn't much fallout, which I sometimes get when using a cheaper blusher as they often crumble more so.
I must say, it didn't seem to much different from other blushers I have used, so I was a little dissapointed, as I was not sure what I was expecting...just a little something more! Don't get me wrong, I was very pleased with the overall appearance, it just seemed like I was missing out on something!
I think that thing was the staying power - this is what I was thoroughly impressed with! I keep comparing this MAC blush to other cheaper brands and in the staying power region, this MAC blush definitely outshines them all! I tend to wear my make up for around about 10-13 hours a day, which is a long time and due to having a hactic life, I often don't have time to reapply so I need a good make up to stay in place!
This blush stayed in place all day! The colour did not fade and neither did the line of the blush become less strong. It looked like I had just reapplied throughout the day. Normally most blushes I wear tend to wear off, or become slightly patchy, of the line (by this I don't mean stripe!) of the blusher isn't as strong, or the colour fades and by the end of the day my make up looks almost as tired as I am!
I cannot explain how impressed I am with this and I can now understand all the hype over MAC products, though I am yet to venture into the range fully, all the products I have used I have been thoroughly impressed with!
I am not sure how long this product lasts for as I have not used all of mine yet, however I have the majority of this product left after using it for 6 months! This makes it great value for money for me as I normall go through one of the cheaper blushers in 1- 3 months!
On my christmas list now is a MAC lipstick after reading shining reviews about them on dooyoo!
I would definitely reccomend this item to those of you who hate having to reapply make up, or those of you who just don't have the time to! It has a subtle, yet youthful finish that highlights the cheek bones and stays in place all day!
MAC Blusher is long lasting as I have had mine now for several years and it´s still nowhere near to finishing despite wearing it everyday. It lasts for most of the day but I carry mine in my purse for little touch ups occassionally during the day.
It´s compact in a circular case and see through lid. My see through lid did fall out though from carrying it around in my handbag. It´s a shame it is missing a mirror as you need to either carry a pocket mirror with you or find a bathroom to apply it when you are out.
The price is middle of the road; not as expensive as some of the designer brands out there but still a lot more expensive than some of the cheaper ranges that are on the market. However, I think it is an investment product for your make-up bag as it lasts a long time. If you look on MAC website you will find so many colours to choose from to suit all skin colours and there are also a variety of different formulas to their blushers to achieve different make-up looks depending on your style and mood. Their website is fantastic but so are their beauty counters in department stores like Debenhams where you can get expert help if you are unsure what will suit you or how to use their products.
I apply my blusher with my fingers and still the blusher formula is in perfect condition. Normally cheaper brands start to harden over time and go off but MAC blusher is a well made, very reliable product and especially great if you do wear blusher on a regular basis. With so many colours and formulas to choose from you can have different blushers for night and day looks as well as for different occasions.
Now then to review MAC blusher, now I don't normally wear blusher as I tend to have an allergic reaction to most makes and come out with a rash - not pleasant!! However so far when using this product I have been fine with no reaction!
*PACKAGING AND PRODUCT*
- 6g of powder per pack
- Standard black circular pot, with flip lid. The lid has a clear plastic "section". I have found that when travelling the plastic lid falls out and CAN'T be pushed back in. This has meant that my blusher has been banged about in my make up bag and now has some holes gouged into it! Paying £16.50 for a product I would expect the packaging to be a little bit more robust and certainly more protective!
- 33 different colours to chose from, so whatever your skin type or occasion there will be a blusher to match!
- I find that the tones in the blusher come out a lot lighter on your skin than you originally expect
- Easy to apply and blends well
- I find it doesn't irritate my skin so I'm not trying to scratch my face off because there is powder on it!
- It has staying power! Stays on while I dance the night away and get all sweaty, but when it comes to removing it I don't have to scrub away at my skin!
- The powder has a lovely silky feel when you sweep across your cheeks
An expensive product, especially if you don't wear it everyday. Plus points are that it does last for a long time, potentially in my case too long as I think by the time I finish it it will have gone off. It applys and blends beautifully and the colours are varied for pretty well much every skin tone! Think the main benefit I have found using MAC blusher is that it works well with sensitive skin!
This is an excellent blusher for an excellent price. I have tried and loved lots of Macs Powder Blushers over recent years - I love the fact that there are so many different colours many of which suit me and I seem to try a new one each time! The blusher goes on well, especially with Macs blusher brush, and lasts most of the day - I only need to give a little top up after about 5/6 hours. I never feel that it looks too much and too fake - but that could be the way I put it on rather than the product itself but I would say that it blends well. I know you shouldn't keep makeup for too long but my current Mac blusher has been going strong for about 7 months now and it still isn't finished and that's with using it every day. I would highly recommend this product to everyone and I can't ever see myself ever changing to another blusher brand!
Blushers are a really important makeup item as they can lift up your whole face. I have about 5 different MAC blushes, all of which are different shades of peach and pink, which suits my pale skin tone.
There are a wide range of MAC blushes available for every skintone and colour. Some of them are matte and some have a bit of a shimmer in them. Some are also cream based. They come in a black case with a clear lid.
I apply my blusher with my MAC blusher brush to the apples of my cheeks and then upwards across my cheekbones and a little toward my temples. All of the colours are very pigmented so come out strong therefore a light touch is needed.
These are easy to apply and go on very smoothly and you do not get the stripes effect which many cheaper brands result in. It is very long lasting and looks the same in the evening when i get home from work as it does when i first apply it in the morning.
Each blush usually costs around £16.50.
**** Intorduction ****
Here I am goning to review the newest edition to my make up bag. I have recently ran out of blusher so I needed to replace it.
I usually buy the blusher from the body shop but after looking in my local Mac cosmetic shop I found this Powder blush and thought I would give it a try.
**** The Powder Blush ****
This Mac powder blush is basically a blusher that has been compacted into a round conpact container, which contains the blush on the top section and an application bush in a smaller compartment on the underside of the compact container.
I personally found the compact ideal as it contains everything i need to give me rosey cheeks on my travels, it also fits nicely into my handbag.
I bought this in the rosey pink shade which I find compliments my skin tone perfectly, however you can also get this in a toasted bron shade for darker skin tones.
You just apply it to your cheek bones using the applcation brush, I find one coat is enough but you can intensify the colour by added additional coats.
For me this cost £6.50 which was a real bargain as the store were offering a discount for students at the week end, Usually this will cost you around the £12.00 mark.
**** My Views ***
This colour works very well with my skin tone and once it has been applied it looks completely flawless, which is a very big bonus for me.
I recommend this to anyone who like to wear a blusher that does not stand out, as you can achieve this look by using one coat. If you do manage to use just the one coat this will last your a very long time.
I only own a few Mac make yp items but given my past experience with the brand I am sure I will be buying more in the near future.
I own three MAC Powder Blushes in the shades Sunbasque, Springsheen and Peaches. All three are similar shades in that they are warm peachy colours which are great for adding a subtle amount of colour without looking like a clown. I apply them with a standard large blusher brush in an upward sweeping motion and then blend them in so they don't look stripey.
The particular advantage of MAC's blushers is not they are easy to apply and easy to avoid the 'stripey' look. The colours blend well into your overall makeup and give you a very healthy appearance. I have often received comments on my blusher, even on days when I didn't think it was applied too well or carefully. I can apply MAC blusher much quicker than any other brand I have tried as it goes on so smoothly.
There is a variety of colours you can choose from but the selection is not as vast as MAC's eyeshadows but if you are prefer the peachy style of blusher as opposed to reds or pinks, I would say that the colours I own (stated at the beginning of this review) are great for people with fair-medium skin like me.
They are quite pricey at £16 but I have had my first one for almost a year now and there is still enough left for another month or so (and I use them daily). The price is offset by their quality I would say and choosing MAC's blushers lends your makeup a more professional finish when you look at your photographs.
