Advantages: nice shades

Disadvantages: pricey, very tiny amount and dries out quickly

These MAC paints come in little tubes of 6.5g and are currently being sold for £12.00 a piece... a bit pricey I hear you say? Well, let me give you more info and tell you about my experience and hopefully this will help you make up your mind a bit better on whether it would be worth you investing in one of these.

There are 9 different shades of MAC paint but I only bought one a few years ago. I got the one in shade bare canvas, which is a shimmery champagne colour. This product was recommended to me by one of the MAC make up artists as it would compliment the 4 eye shadows I bought in browns and beiges to get a pretty neutral look. These were the first ever MAC eye shadows I had purchased and as part of my make over, she used some of this paint that she applied with a blending brush.

She explained to me that this paint would help act as a base for my eye shadow and prevent my eye shadow from fading and creasing during the day. I thought that wasn't too bad so I went ahead and bought one. I loved the result of the make over and couldn't wait to try it out for myself.

Paints can be used as a base, a shadow colour on its own, or to make your other eye shadow colours that you put over the paints pop. I didn't really like it on its own as I found that it creased a bit and didn't hold as well as I hoped it would.

I used it for the first few times but I found that it did not spread as nicely as the way the make up artist did it and I just didn't bother using it anymore after that... I then discovered Urban Decay primer potion and have never looked back at my paint since. What a waste of money I hear you say? Well, yes, for me it sadly was.

I don't know how the make up artist at MAC got it to go on so smoothly and make my eye shadow look so perfect and crease free... It just didn't work for me in the same way and I also found that after 9 months or so, my paint had dried out so I just couldn't be bothered to give it another go and buy another one. It's way too pricey for me and just doesn't act that well as a make up base. This is one MAC item I can gladly live without.

Summary: doesnt quite give the same effect i got from the make up artist :(
