MAC Strobe Liquid
Advantages: Gives the skin a healthy glow and a radiant complexion
Disadvantages: The price
I am always envious of those girls who have radiant looking skin that always looks fresh and healthy. Now I'm sure a proportion of this is due to eating healthily and fresh air but I suspect a portion of it is also due to make up. I bought Strobe Liquid by Mac in a bit to get my own beautiful complexion.
What does the product do?
This product is a moisturiser with a difference. It promises to give the skin a radiant look that glows with health and vitality. It also claims that it will hide imperfections and it works because it contains 'soft focus diffusers' and 'irridescent particles'. It contains botanical ingredients and vitamins which give dull and tired skin a boost while brightening the complexion. The end results is skin which looks fresh and healthy.
How do you use the product?
You can use the product in a range of different ways. You can use it alone without make up by dispensing it from the body and applying it all over the face in the same way as you would apply a moisturiser. You could also just use it on targeted areas to highlight different parts of your face such as on your cheeks bones or on your brow bones. You could also use it mixed in with your foundation to make the effect more subtle but still there. There's not that much point using it underneath a thick foundation as it will cover up the light reflecting effects.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a transparent bottle and you can see the product inside. It has a black screw top lid, and Mac and the product name is written on the front. The product is expensive, as you would expect from a Mac product and it will cost you around £20 for 50ml of the strobe cream.
Application and Performance
This product has a light scent to it that it not over powering and it has the consistency of a moisturiser. It feels hydrating on the skin and it doesn't make my face feel greasy or oily which is good as I have an oily complexion anyway. It goes onto the skin smoothly and doesn't pull or drag my skin. You can blend the product in and you have plenty of time to work with the product before it dries. The appearance of the product isn't sparkling or shimmering thank goodness but it does resemble a highlighter so I was a bit wary about putting it on my face after having tested it on my hand. The finish is still fairly natural though and the product catches the light really nicely, giving you a dewy complexion and a radiant glow.
It does fade some what when mixed in with foundation and the effects are dulled down slightly. I wouldn't wear this in the day as it makes you look a bit made up but I do like wearing it on an evening out. I do usually like my skin to look matte but this make my skin look healthy rather than shiny. It do particularly like to pat some of this product on to my cheek bones and brow bones as a highlighter. It hasn't caused my skin any irritations and it hasn't made me develop any blemishes. You really don't need to use much of the product at all in order to achieve the finished look so the bottle won't run out any time soon.
Summary: A versatile moisturiser which brightens the skin and leaves it glowing with health
