The Mac Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 has SPF 35; perfect for the summer we are in now as I've mostly been skipping foundation and just using concealer and a translucent powder - as well as some mascara and a bright lipstick such as Mac's lady danger.
The packaging is simple yet classy - I really do love mac packaging as well as all of macs products in general to be honest - and the concealer comes in a little pot. The colour is just about right, maybe a bit too dark sometimes, but it's not so bad it's noticeable. The formula is extremely creamy and doesn't seem to cake, as long as you don't use too much, but it can cling to dry patches, especially around the nose. At £15.50, this is quite expensive compare to the other concealers that I have in my collection mainly from the drugstore, but it is a really good quality concealer considering how well it covers blemishes. The coverage is definitely full, which is great, because it makes blemishes and spots disappear and it is very pigmented, but it is too thick for the under eye area which is a shame.
I have already repurchased this twice, and I am definitely going to pick it up on my next trip to Mac as I really do love the coverage of it and the colour which matches my kin perfectly and looks amazing under or over foundation. This is a must have for anyone who loves a good concealer an is willing to pay more on the expensive side.
I have pretty bad skin, I often get blemishes and I always have dark rings under my eyes- obviously this is not a good look and I have tried many different products to try and improve it. Most of the products in shops are liquid concealers and I find that these don't do a good job at all of covering my blemishes as they do not have enough colour or need to be blended onto a big are of skin.
When I saw this product I instantly knew I needed to have it. Instead of being liquid based, and almost like a small tube of foundation as most concealers are, it is a cream based product. This concealer has the consistency of cream eye shadow and comes in a similar style pot. This product is quite thick but blends really easily into my skin. In my mind, the best thing about this product is that it has a really strong colour pigment and really does conceal anything I require it to and I only need a tiny bit of the product to cover any circles under my eyes or any blemishes. This means one pot of this concealer lasted me ages despite me using it everyday. I usually apply this concealer with my fingers and it only takes me a few minutes to apply and blend it on my skin.
This product comes in a small black pot which is made of plastic, but feels sturdy. The lid has a plastic window over the majority of it and opens on a hinge. This again feels fairly sturdy and I think it would survive being thrown around a bit. The packing is simple, but the pot is very small and could easily fit into an evening bag or a clutch for top ups throughout the day or night. However, I have found that this product lasts really well and I have needed to top up many times, unless I had particularly dark circles or a big blemish.
I really love this product, it does exactly what I wanted it to and exceeded my expectations. It provides excellent cover but does not look 'caked on' and blends easily into my skin. This product has lasted really well and I am only just getting to the end of my pot now, after having it for ages. MAC has a great range of shades to suit all skin tones and sales assistants in stores are really helpful in finding the right shade for you.
The one downside with this product for me, as with all MAC products is the price. This little pot will set you back £15 which is expensive for a concealer. However, with this product I really feel that it is worth the money. For something I use everyday that has lasted me for a long time, I don't think £15 is actually that much. The quality of that product is really high and it is by far the best concealer that I have ever used. I will definitely be repurchasing this!
Overall I absolutely love this, it is the first thing I reach for in my make up bag and probably the one make up product I couldn't do without. This thick, strongly pigmented concealer is definitely worth the expensive price tag as it really does do an incredibly good job of living up to its name and concealing any blemishes or dark rings!
Mac studio Finish concealer is the one product I had been itching to buy for a long time, especially after hearing such great reviews from other beauty enthusiasts. However £15 for a tiny pot of the stuff to me just didn't seem justifiable, as I thought it would most probably only last me a week or two- if that!
Nevertheless, reluctantly I forked out, and ordered it from the mac website, about a month ago. I already had a good under eye concealer, which Is lightweight but still provides me with the coverage I need, so the prime purpose of this concealer for me was to cover spots and blemishes.
Recently I have had a lot of breakouts and it has to be said that for me this is hands down the best concealer I have used at covering them, a little really goes a long way with this product as it is very high coverage, so thus why it comes in such a small pot. Just simply take a little on your finger and dab on the area you wish to conceal until blended. For best results use a loose powder over it, as this will give it a Matt finish and also make it last a lot longer, although it last quite long anyway on its own. Mac offer this product in a wide variety of shades, so their is on available for every type of skin tone.
Although one thing I think is important to point out is that if you are looking for a under eye concealer then this is not the product for you. It is much too heavy for this purpose, so creases very easily and can look very cakey in this area.
For me this concealer serves it's purpose, and actually has lasted me quite a long time. Something I will definitely reinvest in and recommend.
I love this concealer. At £15 for a 7g pot, it isn't cheap, but when you consider how long it lasts (I use it daily and a single pot lasts me around a year!) and the quality of the product, I think it represents value for money.
As mentioned above, this creamy concealer comes in pot form, so you will either need to use a brush or your fingers to apply it - I do the latter and have found this achieves a really nice finish. My main reason for buying this concealer has been to use it under my eyes - I get really dark bags and this is great at covering them up. I look a bit ill without it! The coverage is great - it doesn't collect into creases like some other brands I have used and it lasts for quite a long time, though for optimum coverage I do tend to reapply once in the day/before the evening.
The concealer is available in numerous different shades - if possible, I would recommend going into a MAC store (or to a MAC counter) to test the different colours and see which is best suited to your skin tone.
~ Why I Bought It ~
I decided to buy this concealer after buying the MAC studio fix foundation and loving it! I tend to only wear foundation when I really need to (eg spots, dull skin tone etc) or want to make an effort, and then I will just make do with concealer most days as I like to let my skin breathe.
~ Price ~
At £14.50 for 7 grams of product this isn't particularly cheap, but it is really good quality and long lasting and it looks great too so in my opinion it is worth it. You can tell that it is high quality so it's not like you're paying over the odds or anything.
~ My Opinion ~
Concealer is an absolute essential for me as I get such bad circles under my eyes when I'm tired, which is almost always! This concealer is definitely the best that I have ever tried and the first thing that I like about it is the packaging.
It comes in a really cute little compact which is black with a transparent circle on the lid so you can see the concealer. The only thing I'm not too keen on though is that I have to dip my finger into it each time I want to use it, which is a little yucky especially if I am using it on spots. It has a special ingredient in it which stops the spreading of spots though luckily.
The compact itself comes in a square shaped cardboard box which makes it feel really luxurious, but I threw the box away after a while because it got tatty quickly. The concealer is water resistant and contains SPF35 which provides strong sun protection and it is enriched with antioxidants. It is strong concealer and can be used to cover tattoos, birth marks, moles, freckles and scars.
The concealer is odourless and it has a very thick and creamy consistency and I only need the tiniest amount to cover my under eye circles, and if I have a spot I need a minuscule amount as a little goes such a long way!
It completely masks my under eye circles and masks redness from spots, making them much less noticeable. Even though it is thick it doesn't take ages to blend it in and the finish looks really natural and it doesn't feel heavy. It doesn't cake and because it is matte it doesn't look shiny or greasy or draw attention to the area where I've applied it.
I have it in shade NC15 which is the perfect match for my skin and my skin tone doesn't look patchy or anything when I've got the concealer on as it blends so well. I have dry skin and was concerned that it might highlight any dryness, especially when used on spots but it doesn't, however it does leave my skin feeling a little dry after I've used it. It has never made me break out in spots or irritated my skin though.
The lasting power is impressive and it lasts for ages without fading or going patchy - it lasts all day and it isn't too stubborn when it comes to removing it.
~ All in All ~
A rich, creamy, luxurious concealer which provides excellent coverage and lasts for ages.
As you can see in the heading I do think this is the best of the best as long as you get the colour matched correctly. If you go2 Mac, they can tell you if you are NC or NW depending on your undertone.
So this concealer is fantastic and does everything you would want from a concealer, to conceal anything from a scar to a spot. The sculpt range is great as it has been used to cover up tattoos, which i suppose shows you how great it is.
It is a thick concealer, so use it sparingly and apply more layers if neccessary. Foundation glides over it well as long as you don't overdo it.
I use this as a base around my eyes aswell, as it allows eyeshadow to hold. It is quite oily so if you are using it under your eyes then I would suggest applying a translucent powder over it.
Overall the colour range has a wide variety and it does everything you would want from a concealer, just blend it in well and dont over do it!
The Mac studio finish concealer is the best concealer I have tried to date. I first purchased this concealer about 5 years ago after having it recommended to me by a friend and I haven't regretted it once!
This concealer comes in a round black tub with a retractable lid. It is easy to open and close and is fairly sturdy.
This concealer is a fairly heavy duty concealer. It provides great coverage for spots, blemishes and scars. It blends easily and can be applied using fingertips or a concealer brush. I personally prefer using my fingertips to apply. It has a natural appearance and can be used over or under foundation, or alone.
This concealer in my opinion is not great for under eyes. I find it too thick and dry for the delicate skin under your eyes and if applied here it leaves a chalky, creased appearance.
This concealer currently costs £13.50 from Mac. Only a small amount is required for application and from using this every day my last pot lasted me 2 years. You may find this hard to believe but the 7g tub really does go far! (I am aware that is is probably not hygienic to keep a make up product for this long...).
One f my favourite things about Mac make up is that if you return 6 empty packages to a store they will give you a free lip stick of your choice. This encourages me to recycle and is a great incentive.
In my opinion this concealer definitely represents value for money given the high quality of the product and the length of time it lasts.
Give it a try if you are looking for a new concealer.
Thanks for reading and I hope you found my review helpful.
Studio finish. It is the perfect name for the concealer product. I have loved all of the other MAC products that I have tried, and this product is no exception. I adore the quality and the natural effect of the product.
The beauty of this product is that it is easily applicable onto your skin compared to other concealers. I like that the product easily blends as well to leave you with a natural glow. There is also a shine in the concealer which makes your skin look healthy. When I wore this product on its own without foundation, my friends could not tell at all that I was wearing make up.
This product is not just for blemishes, it can also help with dark under eye circles, scar, tattoo's and much more. I also have oily/ combination skin which is a hassle. As you have to find, a product that will match your skin type I visited the MAC store and they recommended the studio finish product as it contains silica, which absorbs skin oils. Which helps with my blemishes and skin type.
Furthermore I can say that the product is barely visible. The product is easily removed, I can remove all of the concealer spread all across my face using only one make up remover wipe. Which is pretty impressive compared to the other concealers that I have used which take two or three wipes to remove all of the concealer. The product lasts a long time so I would say that it definitely is worth every penny that you have paid. I have used my own MAC concealer every weekday for six months and I am only halfway through the relatively small pot.
This is a miracle, considering most concealers last me five months at the most and cost half the price. I have also found that the product does not wear off through the day, so I have no need to re-apply the make up every few hours. This saves a lot of time and also shows that the product is of good quality.
All products have flaws and the only one flaw that I can say about this product is that the product does not cover skin perfections completely. I have suffered from acne and have a few remaining scars and the concealer did dull the appearance of the scars but did not cover the blemishes completely. I even tried to layer on the concealer but this did not work. I would not recommend the "studio finish" product to acne sufferers but there is a range of concealers which offer more coverage in the MAC range that you can purchase.
When getting the right shade to match your skin tone, I recommend visiting the nearest MAC store. You can try and test out the products to find the perfect match. You can also receive helpful makeup advice
Overall I would recommend this product to just about everyone. The " studio finish concealer might not be for you, but do not worry there are a range of concealers to chose from. I recommend visiting the nearest MAC store to find out more about your skin and which product would best suit your skin
I picked this up at the airport, but this is availible from department stores such as Selfridges or Debenhams and of course at maccosmetics.co.uk from £13.50.
I was initially doubtful to spend this amount on a concealer but after hearing that people still have remains left of this after 12 months of continual usage, my doubts vanished.
This concealer is a thick consistency where a little WILL go a long way. I usually apply this with a concealer, or blending, brush and and tap lightly using my ring finger to ensure bacteria isn't transferred into the packaging.
Because of the thickness of this concealer, it is heavy duty and will cover everything. I have a blemish on my face that no other concealer was able to cover but MAC studio finish was able to cover this no problem.
I would recommend this concealer mostly for heavy duty blemish concealing however this concealer is extremely drying and is not suitable for under the eyes because of this. but is also good for under eye shadows, though can be slightly drying in texture.
If set with a powder this will last all day and won't crease.
I would definately recommend this concealer as it easily blends and covers and will last for a long time however this is not suitable for those with dry skin.
I started using MAC cosmetics last summer after reading raving reviews on products from there. Originally, the range was used only by professional makeup artists, but due to it's growing popularity, MAC can now be found in department stores and free standing shops to the public. Although their products are pricey, you can be guaranteed they will deliver top class results. After all, why spend tons of money searching for that perfect product when you could just by something as high quality as MAC? Additionally, MAC Studio Fix concealer was also named best concealer by Company magazine (aswell as MAC's lipsticks, pressed powders and blushers!) They specialise in everything: a rainbow of eyeshadows; an array of foundations to match every skin tone; perfecting primers and of course, this outstanding concealer. The award speaks for itself.
Concealer can be either used on bare skin or on top of foundation for maximum coverage. The aim of a concealer is basically to disguise blemishes, to hide dark circles under eyes or to cover uneven skin tones. So, if your suffering from a real bad breakout, this is your answer. Most concealers provide full coverage but toy can also get sheer coverage too, whatever you prefer. For a subliminal look, use over a tinted moisturiser or a bare face and for full coverage, wear over a medium to build able foundation. Concealers make your skin appear flawless, especially this one.
Mac Studio Finish's concealer is contained in a small black, squished pot with a retractable lid. The packaging compliments MAC's sophisticated, but simple packaging and I just love the design. The 7g pot is circular, with a see-through dome lid, in which you can see the concealer through. The packaging isn't anything special or vavavoom but it does it's job. Nonetheless, the plastic isnt flimsy - it's sturdy and will not easily dent or scratch. Overall, simple but effective pot and delivers in results.
The concealer can be applied with either your fingers or a brush - either works. Personally, I just use my fingertips. Just rub the concealer top lightly, not too hard, to achieve a thin layer onto your ring finger. I use my ring finger because it isn't as heavy as other fingertips, and it's easy to lightly tap it onto your skin with that finger. Usability is simple, gently pat the concealer onto problemed areas and lightly pat it until it's disappeared and blended in. I was suprised at hoe lightweight this product was despite it being a full coverage concealer. Results are faultless - you can cover any blemish in just one application. Blemishes disappear with ease, my skin always looks flawless.
You can also apply this over dark circles as it is a non-crease formula and it is very breathable. With 2-3 layers, tattoos and birthmarks can be disguised. I don't think there's anything this concealer can't cover. It's a longwearing, creamy product for all skin types. Don't worry about breaking out - it's fragrance free, water resistant and enriched with vitamin A and E. Silica is also contained to absorb the skins oils. This highly concerntrated concealer is SPF35 to protect your skin from the sun's harsh rays, which can lead to premature aging.
Personally, when I apply Studio Finish concealer, I follow an easy base routine to ensure flawless skin. Firstly, I apply MAC's Prep and Prime primer (also see my review on that); then I apply about two to three layers of MAC's Studio Fix foundation with a MAC 187 brush or a flat topped blending brush (also see my review); then I apply this Studio Finish concealer to problemed areas with my fingertips; I then take MAC's Studio Fix pressed powder to mattify the foundation and to make it last longer; then finally, I apply MAC's Pinch o' Peach blusher to my cheeks. I apply both my blusher and powder with a dense kabuki brush to buff it all in. The end result is truly flawless.
I would seriously recommend investing in some Studio Fix products from MAC, it has to be my favourite range in bases. I am shade NC15 in MAC, in both my powder, concealer and foundation, but I would recommend visiting your local MAC counter for a shade consultation because being too orange or too pale isn't a good look. Also, MAC offer an hour and a half makeup tutorial WIRH one of their makeup artists for a price of £50, which is redeemable in products. This tutorial is great for girls just starting out with makeup, it really helped me in my makeup routine. The staff are all professional and provide excellent advise.
In conclusion, a great little pot and I couldn't live without it! A 7g tub will set you back £12.50; which may seem expensive but nothing is comparable to this concealer so I would definately invest in this high quality product. Remember, you only need a small amount to provide optimum coverage. The concealer doesn't go on cakey and lasts in excess of 8 hours. I love the fact that MAC's Studio Fix range delivers opaque coverage with professional results. I would highly recommend this concealer, you can pick it up at many large department stores including House of Fraser, Debenhams and Selfridges. I've been using this concealer everyday for the last 4 months, and I've only just started to make an indentation in the concealer - it lasts forever!
Overall, an amazing buy from MAC and I'll definately be repurchasing. It is a faultless concealer that never fails to give me outstanding results. 5 stars.
I don't suffer from acne, however I always like to have some sort of make up on my face, and dark circles I would rather hide in shame.
Being a shade outcast in other brands, no other concealer would work as a 'lazy day' replacement, and I was soon to go on holiday to India, where the weather would have no mercy on foundation, so a concealer to cover 'bad' areas was the solution. After reading up about MAC concealers, I loved how this one is in such a cute little pot, that's easy to open and carry around. Priced at £12.50, this is pricier than most concealers, but I was drawn to it due to there being a shade sold which actually matched my skin!
From what I've seen, other people are astounded at how this can cover up an acne and scars, I was particularly pleased with how it covered my dark circles and areas against my nose. The consistency of this concealer is very creamy, claims to be lightweight but it felt quite average to me. I have 'normal' skin, and it felt little bit dry putting it on under my dark circles. MAC have advised that its better to use a more liquid concealer under your eyes, as the skin there is thin and delicate, my mistake! However, I do recommend this for any acne and scarring, as only a little product can cover up a lot.
I can tell this would be heavenly for oily skin, as the formula is thick and will not budge. However, it wouldn't be so good for dry skin, which would benefit from a more liquid formula, which will be fresh and moisturising.
You can apply this with a brush, sponge or fingers, though I've found fingers easiest due to the consistency and blend blend blend!
I bought Mac Studio Finish Concealer for the first time about four years ago. I very rarely repurchase cosmetics as, like many others, I am always on the lookout for something better. After trying countless other concealers, I found myself coming back to this one as, in many repects, it simply cannont be beaten.
It is possibly the most full coverage concealer I have used. It covers everything from dark circles, scars, the angriest looking pimples and even birthmarks. It applies easily and blends well. It also long-lasting, waterproof and has SPF 35 which means it's perfect for wearing on holiday. And although the pot looks tiny, there is far more product in here than any other high-end concealer at 7g. It is also so highly concentrated that only a small amount is needed.
One downside I found was that it does cake after a while- so be sure to use sparingly and build the layers rather than put a thick layer on in one go. I've found a good alternative in Benefit's 'boi-ing' which is also opaque and less cakey, but is quite a bit pricier and contains less product.
A few tips I've picked up is to use a stiff, synthetic brush to apply this product evenly and then blend with your ring finger- I find that the heat from my fingers helps the product to settle into the skin better.
Under my eyes I find it a little heavy, I use YSL's touche eclat over the top to brighten the product slightly. Alternatively, buy it a shade lighter than your skin tone and mix the concealer with a tiny bit of moisturiser.
I love this product, but may be unneccessary to those of you who need minimal coverage
This concealer is brilliant! I have suffered with bad skin for about 10 years and have tried countless different sorts of concealer during that time. I thought I'd try this concealer about a year ago after borrowing a friends and I don't think I'll ever look back!
The concealer blends into skin really well leaving a flawless finish. It doesn't dry out your skin, and you can't see where you've applied it. I mostly use it to cover up spots and it really reduces redness to an absolute minimum. I also use it to conceal dark patches around my eyes and it does a very good job with that too!
I use the concealer every day and fairly liberally. One pot lasted me nearly six months! I promise you that is the complete honest truth! At around £12 that means it only costs £2 per month! I was really surprised about this. I have actually saved money by buying a more expensive brand!
The way I apply this concealer is as follows:
1) Moisturise face well to prepare a good base for blending in make-up. Concealer and foundation tend to cling to dry bit of skin and so if you haven't moisturised properly your make up will be patcy.
2) I use foundation first. A good foundation with even out skin tone and reduce redness. Using it first means you will use less cover up. Also, if you use concealer first you may find you 'over blend' it when you apply your foundation and undo the results.
3) Dab a small amount of concealer onto any spots, red areas, dark patches. I find the best way to blend it in is to gently pat it until you can't see it anymore.
4) That's it! You won't need to apply any more during the day because it's SOOOOOO good!!
I hope this helps!
Mac studio finish concealer-
I bought this in a treat yourself mood, and def didnt regret it once i had tried it.
I wanted something that could give me a little coverage and has SPF for protection against the sun. Since most concealers that I wanted to buy didn't have any SPF in them, I straight away went to MAC to check this concealer. This one has SPF 35!
It blended well with my foundation, my under eyes were mostly concealed and it was light weight couldnt tell i had concealer on, its waterproof so i could still do my aqua aerobics!!!It also didnt settle into any lines so didnt age me at all which i have found alot of concealers do!
Its possibly more expensive than some but it lasts a while as its in a pot and you can use a brush and it blends nicely.
I have used alot of products for my dark circles and this actually worked a treat. Will continue to use unless i find something better!!
No one guesses that i've been up all night! The life of a student.. 3am mad rushes where you suddenly remember you had to have an essay in by 4pm that day, when you only got in at 2:59am.
Sound familiar? Well, you seriously need this utter God send of a MAC product!
It's £12.50 for 7g of product, and although it sounds like a small amount - it does last for quite a while! There are 15 different shades available ranging from the palest of pale (probably near Ivory) to a rich, chocolate colour - so you should test them before you buy.
I buy mine from Selfridges seeing as they are everywhere near me, but there are a few specialist MAC stores dotted around the UK.
You can also buy it online, but if I were you - i'd try it in store first to see if you like it and to test which shade you'd need, as MAC can get pretty expensive if you're having a splurge online and don't know which shade to get..
Want to cover up something like a birthmark or a tattoo? With 2 coats of this stuff, it's gone! I have a small birthmark on my thigh and it was just under the hem of my dress one night, so i tried it and voila, it had disappeared!
A lightweight, opaque concealer /
