Advantages: Covers spots and dark circles well
Disadvantages: None
I wrote a review the other day about the studio fix foundation that I bought from MAC. I also mentioned in that review that I also bought a concealer, which was the MAC studion finish concealer.
When I went to the MAC store in Westfield shopping centre I was originally just looking for a foundation but when the consultant mentioned a concealer I thought it would be worth a try. I don't have the best skin and am always trying to find ways to hide my inperfections. As well as spots, which apprently I am not growing out of , I quite often have dark circles under my eyes. I do try and get enough sleep and drink water etc but still get these inperfections.
I have used concealers before but they haven't quite suited my skin and you can tell I am wearing it even though I wear foundation over the top. Therefore I decided that I would give MAC concealer a try. I am trusting of their make up from products I have bought of them before. I also like that you can get one of the consulatants to try the product on you before you buy.
The concealer as with most MAC products comes in a black box with the MAC logo on it. This product is quite small so comes in a small box. The box also has the name of the product and the ingredients written on the box. The box being small means there isn't much room for the writing. There is also a small leaflet inside with these ingredients written on again so that you can read these if you have having difficulty on the box. On top of the box is the shade of the concealer. The one I purchased is NW20, this was suggested as I bought my foundation in NW25. Your concealer should be a lighter colour than your foundation. It also states on the box that the concealer has an SPF of 35. This is obviously a great thing to know as it is helping to protect the skin as well as conceal.
The actual product comes in a small round pot with a clear lid. To use the product you just need to simply flip open the lid, which is easy to do. It is hard to know how much of the product is actually in the pot. You do not need to use much of the product at a time so I hope it will last a while.
It is easy to apply the product. I have been using my fingers to do this as the consultant who showed me how to use it applied it this way. I just dab my finger in as I only need a small amount. I then dab this onto my skin and blend it in. The pot is just the right size to put your finger into so I think it has been designed well.
I find that the concealer works really well. On my eye areas it makes such a difference to how my eyes look. It manages to lighten up the area that is quite dark. It can be a little hard to blend it in as the skin is quite thin and sensitive in this area. It is possible though with gentle blending and looks good. The colour on my skin looks good. It is paler than my normal skin colour but when you apply foundation on top the two blend together well.
On my spots it also works well. I can look quite red and blotchy with no make up on. When I put this on though it hides the spots well. Obviously it is impossible to hide the lumps on your face but it manages to hide them well. I just put a small dab of the concealer on to the spot and blend it in and immediately it blends into the colour of my skin and makes my face look a lot more even. I was really pleased with how easy it was to cover my spots. I have found with some concealers that they can look very unnatural and even make the spots stand out even more. It is also supposed to be non-blemishgenic so hopefully it will cause no more spots.
As well as dark circles and blemishes the concealer can apparently also cover tattoos and birthmarks.
This product is twelve pounds, which is a little pricy but with how well it has worked for me I think it has been great value for money.
Overall I would say that the studio finish concealer is a great concealer that does exactly what it should do. I would definitely recommend you also get a MAC foundation as the two blend brilliantly together leaving you with great looking skin.
