Advantages: Opaque coverage; isn't cakey; lightweight.

Disadvantages: Price.

I started using MAC cosmetics last summer after reading raving reviews on products from there. Originally, the range was used only by professional makeup artists, but due to it's growing popularity, MAC can now be found in department stores and free standing shops to the public. Although their products are pricey, you can be guaranteed they will deliver top class results. After all, why spend tons of money searching for that perfect product when you could just by something as high quality as MAC? Additionally, MAC Studio Fix concealer was also named best concealer by Company magazine (aswell as MAC's lipsticks, pressed powders and blushers!) They specialise in everything: a rainbow of eyeshadows; an array of foundations to match every skin tone; perfecting primers and of course, this outstanding concealer. The award speaks for itself.

Concealer can be either used on bare skin or on top of foundation for maximum coverage. The aim of a concealer is basically to disguise blemishes, to hide dark circles under eyes or to cover uneven skin tones. So, if your suffering from a real bad breakout, this is your answer. Most concealers provide full coverage but toy can also get sheer coverage too, whatever you prefer. For a subliminal look, use over a tinted moisturiser or a bare face and for full coverage, wear over a medium to build able foundation. Concealers make your skin appear flawless, especially this one.

Mac Studio Finish's concealer is contained in a small black, squished pot with a retractable lid. The packaging compliments MAC's sophisticated, but simple packaging and I just love the design. The 7g pot is circular, with a see-through dome lid, in which you can see the concealer through. The packaging isn't anything special or vavavoom but it does it's job. Nonetheless, the plastic isnt flimsy - it's sturdy and will not easily dent or scratch. Overall, simple but effective pot and delivers in results.

The concealer can be applied with either your fingers or a brush - either works. Personally, I just use my fingertips. Just rub the concealer top lightly, not too hard, to achieve a thin layer onto your ring finger. I use my ring finger because it isn't as heavy as other fingertips, and it's easy to lightly tap it onto your skin with that finger. Usability is simple, gently pat the concealer onto problemed areas and lightly pat it until it's disappeared and blended in. I was suprised at hoe lightweight this product was despite it being a full coverage concealer. Results are faultless - you can cover any blemish in just one application. Blemishes disappear with ease, my skin always looks flawless.

You can also apply this over dark circles as it is a non-crease formula and it is very breathable. With 2-3 layers, tattoos and birthmarks can be disguised. I don't think there's anything this concealer can't cover. It's a longwearing, creamy product for all skin types. Don't worry about breaking out - it's fragrance free, water resistant and enriched with vitamin A and E. Silica is also contained to absorb the skins oils. This highly concerntrated concealer is SPF35 to protect your skin from the sun's harsh rays, which can lead to premature aging.

Personally, when I apply Studio Finish concealer, I follow an easy base routine to ensure flawless skin. Firstly, I apply MAC's Prep and Prime primer (also see my review on that); then I apply about two to three layers of MAC's Studio Fix foundation with a MAC 187 brush or a flat topped blending brush (also see my review); then I apply this Studio Finish concealer to problemed areas with my fingertips; I then take MAC's Studio Fix pressed powder to mattify the foundation and to make it last longer; then finally, I apply MAC's Pinch o' Peach blusher to my cheeks. I apply both my blusher and powder with a dense kabuki brush to buff it all in. The end result is truly flawless.

I would seriously recommend investing in some Studio Fix products from MAC, it has to be my favourite range in bases. I am shade NC15 in MAC, in both my powder, concealer and foundation, but I would recommend visiting your local MAC counter for a shade consultation because being too orange or too pale isn't a good look. Also, MAC offer an hour and a half makeup tutorial WIRH one of their makeup artists for a price of £50, which is redeemable in products. This tutorial is great for girls just starting out with makeup, it really helped me in my makeup routine. The staff are all professional and provide excellent advise.

In conclusion, a great little pot and I couldn't live without it! A 7g tub will set you back £12.50; which may seem expensive but nothing is comparable to this concealer so I would definately invest in this high quality product. Remember, you only need a small amount to provide optimum coverage. The concealer doesn't go on cakey and lasts in excess of 8 hours. I love the fact that MAC's Studio Fix range delivers opaque coverage with professional results. I would highly recommend this concealer, you can pick it up at many large department stores including House of Fraser, Debenhams and Selfridges. I've been using this concealer everyday for the last 4 months, and I've only just started to make an indentation in the concealer - it lasts forever!

Overall, an amazing buy from MAC and I'll definately be repurchasing. It is a faultless concealer that never fails to give me outstanding results. 5 stars.

Summary: Yet another outstanding product from MAC!
