MAC Studio Fix Fluid
Advantages: Great coverage, lasts a long time!
I often try out a lot of different types and brands of foundation. I can never say I expected myself to be spending almost twenty pounds on one single bottle of foundation though, as my usual foundation would cost £8 at the most! However, I was hearing so much about MAC make up at the time and how fabulous it was, how flawless it made your skin look so I just had to try it out. I was getting ready with my friends (one who had MAC make up) she offered to let me use her foundation and blusher and I fell in love. From then onwards I have purchased my own MAC things mainly for special occasions though! I have tried out two different types of MAC foundation however I preferred this one, MACS Studio fix fluid.
I went to the local Selfridges in Manchester too purchase some MAC, I would certainly recommend that you went to the nearest store selling MAC if you was interested in buying some for the first time rather than buying online as you cant quite see the colours properly. I once ordered a blusher online from MAC, when it arrived it was a complete different colour to what I had expected! Also another advantage of going to your local store is that the employees at MAC will also help you and let you know what colour and skin type you are and what foundations are best for you! I was helped a lot when buying my foundation and was asked what type of look I wanted it to give. I personally like a thick foundation with a matte look so I told the lady this and she brought me back Studio Fix fluid.
MAC foundations come in a range of colours however they are not just names of colours like other foundations... for example ivory, sand etc. They are letters and numbers I'm not quite sure why but the lower the number the paler the foundation is. The colours range from NW or NC 15-NW or NC 58, 15 being the palest colour and 58 being the darkest colour. I personally am NW25 when I have a tan, but otherwise I would be NW20.
This MAC foundation comes in a small, classy cylinder glass bottle of 30ml. The bottle has a Black thick lid and also in black writing on the glass is the MAC logo and the type of foundation. Also it lets you know that this foundation is SPF15 this is a great factor, as it helps protect your skin. I personally think the bottle even looks expensive and also quite classy! The lid of the bottle is simply a screw on lid, however this can be messy at times and you can sometimes pour out too much foundation, so I would personally recommend that you also bought a MAC pump for £3 as it would certainly be easier, less messy and you would be able to get more foundation out of the bottle and not waste any at the end, which you don't want to be doing when it costs so much!
The best way too apply this foundation would be to place some onto your foundation brush and simply rub it into your skin. However you could also use other make up tools to apply it such as a sponge, whichever best suits you! The foundation is quite thick, yet not to thick that it would make your face look caked in make up, you do not need too much of this foundation, just a few pumps and it spreads across the face generously. The foundation creates a beautiful flawless coverage with just that tiny bit of foundation. I just use this foundation on its own as I personally believe it does not need a pressed powder over the top to make it look any better! Another great advantage of this foundation is it lasts all day for me no matter what I am doing; it even lasted all night whilst I was out on holiday at night in the heat of Turkey. So I personally LOVE it, I believe no other foundation stays on and also looks as flawless as this foundation does, its pretty much perfect. You could even say it gives you that airbrushed look that we all dream for on pictures.
There always has to be a downfall or two doesn't there? I can personally say this is the perfect foundation for normal skin types...if you are willing to pay the price of £19.50 per 30ml bottle. Now this is a large amount of money, however my last bottle of this foundation lasted a much longer time than any other foundations I have used because you don't need to use a lot of this foundation for it too give you the flawless look! So I personally believe it is worth paying the extra money for a perfect foundation!! I still always have other types of foundations for when im not having to look great, for example going to the gym. But more often than not I will use this foundation.
Another downfall to this foundation, not personally for me but other friends who have used MAC make up have said that it has caused their skin to become more spotty. I suppose this does depend on your skin type and may not happen to everyone as it has not happened to me thankfully!
I would personally recommend this foundation to anyone! I love it and believe that it is certainly worth all that money even if you just use it for them 'special occasions'. It is the best foundation I have used so far, and I will continue to use this product until I find a better one.
Thank you for reading my review :)
