MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation
Advantages: gives a smooth flawless finish, good quality, SPF 15
Disadvantages: not the best packaging in my opinion
I am currently using MAC Studio Sculpt foundation as part of my daily make-up routine. It is a liquid foundation.
~ Price and availability ~
This foundation is available in 21 shades from www.maccosmetics.co.uk for £24.00 for the 40ml tube. It is also available in Boots, Debenhams and most other department stores for around the same price.
~ Packaging ~
The foundation comes in a tall clear plastic tube with the 'MAC' logo at the top and 'Studio sculpt SPF 15 foundation' at the bottom in black. It has a black screw off lid with rounded edges so it is difficult to balance it on its lid, but I lie this down in my make-up bag so this doesn't bother me so much. The inside of the lid can get rather messy with foundation, which I have found a little annoying, but you get that with many different foundations.
The back of the tube warns to keep this product out of your eyes and to stop using it if irritation occurs.
I have found even when it is thrown around in my make-up bag the lettering does not scratch off the tube, which is what I find with many of my make-up products.
~ Use ~
To get the foundation out of the tube, you remove the lid and gently squeeze the tube. I went for one of the lightest shades of this foundation that is available as I have very fair skin. I find with this foundation, a little goes a long way and you do not need to use much to get a good coverage. The foundation is easy to apply with your fingertips or using a brush. It blends well and covers discolouration and spots very effectively without clinging to dry skin.
I find it gives a nice smooth flawless finish. I tend to use a matte powder to set the foundation, but this is not essential. The look that this foundation creates is not greasy at all and it is fine to use it on its own.
It is easy to remove with a wipe or my usual cleanser.
It is SPF 15, which means it provides your skin with protection from the sun, but to be fair I have found that most foundations that I have used are SPF 10-20 as well, even products that are a lot cheaper and I have almost come to expect sun protection from a foundation.
~ Overall ~
Overall, I like this foundation. It is a nice liquid foundation to use and it creates a flawless look with minimal effort. It is very effective, hiding spots and discolouration of my skin and providing a good even coverage. I am not the biggest fan of the packaging. I would prefer a shorter fatter tube to this long thin one.
I don't think it is bad for the price considering how well it works, but I don't love it and I suspect there are better foundations out there that I am yet to discover.
Summary: A nice finish!
