“ Brand: Make Up Academy / Type: Nail Varnish / Subcategory: Nail Polish / Suitable for: Nails „
I bought this nail varnish purely because of its low price of £1 in Superdrug. I love painting and doing different things with my nails so I often find myself buying some cheaper brands so I can build up a large collection of colours.
The bottle is clear so you can what colour the nail varnish is inside. Around the outside you can find the brand name and product details in silver, with a chrome effect screw on lid. The bottle does look quite up market but is rather small in comparison to other brands of nail varnish.
I bought three of these nail varnishes as part of Superdrug's 3 for 2 offer in this shade as well as shades 5 and 11. My favorite colour is shade 5 which is a soft pale green shade. The nail varnish goes on very smoothly and does not get clumpy. The brush is of standard size, allowing you to paint your nails in an average of three strokes. I find for the best colour you have to apply two coats as the colour is not very strong if you only apply one. The chip resistance is pretty good, a lot better than I thought it wold be, lasting about 3 or 4 days. I did not think the nail varnish would last as long as it does with the bottle being small, but it seems to be going on forever.
Overall I would definitely recommend this nail varnish it is great quality at a low price, could not asking anything else from the brand.
I love painting my nails, I go through different moods in regards to different colours so I've built up quite a collection of different coloured nail polishes. One of the bottles of nail polish in my collection is this one from MUA (makeup academy).
I purchased this nail polish from my local Superdrug for the miniscule sum of only £1. Superdrug sell a whole range of MUA products and have lots of different colour nail polish for sale.
One of the colours I picked up was shade 3 of MUA's nail polish range. As the bottle is transparent I could see what the colour is in the store instead of it being a lottery and hoping I get a nice colour. This shade is a sort of rich pink/purple colour, I have a handful of different pink shades already but this one is more of a deep pink apposed to the pale pinks I had already.
As the nail polish is a lot cheaper than other brands it does skimp a little on the size, the bottle is a little smaller than others I have but it doesn't really bother me as 9 times out of 10, I don't usually finish the bottles off anyway so this just means I'll be able to use all of it before throwing the bottle away. Its square in shape and totally see-through.
The nail polish itself has quite a watery consistency to it, after applying one coat with the even bristles on the end of the lid, it leaves quite a streaky colour on my finger nails and doesn't really look very good. However, after letting that coat dry and applying another coat, it leaves the nails full of the colour that you expect after seeing the polish in the bottle.
I find that the nail polish stays looking perfect for around a week before starting to chip away a little. I don't like it when my polish starts to chip so usually take it straight off and repaint with a different colour but I've found that this nail polish can go a fortnight before chipping most of it off.
I'd definitely recommend shade 3 of MUA's nail polish range, not only is it super cheap, but the quality of the polish once applied is fantastic. Granted, it takes two coats to achieve the right look, but the value for money is amazing.
Despite being quite the make-up virgin (for someone of my age and generation anyway) I've recently been getting into nail polishes since a couple of my university friends have started getting into nail art. To start keeping my nails looking nice when they weren't willing to paint them I decided to purchase some basic nail polish to try myself, and MUA's nail polish fit the bill!
For those unaware, Make Up Academy, or MUA, is the Superdrug store brand of makeup, everything of which costs only £1! As somebody who doesn't wear makeup on even a daily basis (!), I like trying the Make Up Academy items as their low price (combined with 10% student discount for me) makes them almost risk-free to experiment with- if I don't like the product at least it wouldn't be a colossal waste of money even compared to the other budget makeup brnads. I picked up Shade 3 of this nail polish because I'm quite a fan of purple and the darkness of this particular colour I think suits my skin tone (quite dark) the best.
The bottle is comparatively small and nothing special other than name and logo appears on the front. However at least the bottle transparent and you can see how deep the shade of polish is, plus it seems to be filled up as much as possible instead of being a clear gap between the level of polish and the lid. The ingredients are on the back of the bottle and although I'm listing them all here I didn't spot any chemicals that would raise eyebrows. It's very easy to open and close without causing spillage.
Although this particular shade is very dark and pigmented, I would thoroughly recommend putting two coats of this on. Painting on my first coat you can tell the polish is very streaky and thin, but let that dry for about 5-10 minutes then put on your second coat and it comes out much better. The brush covers your nails evenly and doesn't let the polish drip off it. It dries in about 15 minutes which I think is a decent amount of time given the price!
I don't expect this nail polish to last weeks and weeks but I find that it doesn't chip off by myself two days after application. After a week or so the majority of it is still there that I could just put on a top-up coat if I was feeling lazy and it would look fine.
Overall then I would certainly recommend MUA's line of nail polishes. Not only are ridiculously cheap but the quality is still beyond the price tag. Even if two coats are needed unless you repaint your nails daily it isn't that much of a problem given how much you're paying. This shade is a lovely colour and lasts longer than you expect, so I'd check their line of colours out!

As i have said before i love nail polish and this own brand one from Superdrug is really good i can wear it for 5 days before it starts to chip which is really good as others can chip really easy. This one is quite small at only 6.2ml but even so i have had it used it a lot and i mean a lot as i really like the colour as its a cross between purple and pink i do feel that even though it is small it does last awhile.
The price is amazing as it is only £1 from Superdrug and i can't think of any complaints about this product at all. I find that it is easy to apply to the nail it can be quite light on the first application but i always put two coats on with any nail polish all in all i have to admit it is my favorite nail varnish as i love the colour and i love the price! It only takes about a minute to dry which isn't long at all and its not too runny but its not too thick either which makes it easy to apply even my boyfriend manages to apply it to my toes without making a complete mess.
This nail varnish also comes in a variety of different shades all togethers there 18 i'm not going to name them all but to name a few there are pinks, peaches, silver, blues etc which are all perfect for any type of occasion just choose the colour that suits you, definately a must buy for any nail polish lover!
