Advantages: Great Quality, just £1!, great range of colours.

Disadvantages: nothing.

So, before I begin this review I just want to get one thing clear... I LOVE NAIL POLISH! As a trainee nail technician I am always on the look out for polishes that will add something new to my collection but I'm not one to pay over the odds for nail varnish as I just don't see the point. I change my polish quite often just because I like a change and enjoy matching it to my outfits, therefore paying more seems silly to me when there is little difference in quality of the high street brands compared to the high end brand of polishes available on the market.

After hearing good things about Makeup Academy (MUA) nail polishes in magazines and of course on dooyoo, I decided to give them a go for myself. Last week I had to pop in to town for some things when I was passing my local Superdrug shop and the MUA nail polishes popped in to my mind so I decided to go in and purchase one. I purchased the shade 19, which is a beige/grey colour, or as I have heard some fashion experts call greige (ooh look at me being all with it! ha).

On to the details...

*What is MUA?*
MUA is the Makeup Academy, a new range exclusive to superdrug. All products cost just £1.

*Packaging*
The polish comes in a cute small glass bottle which is a squared shape, the clear glass bottle makes it easy to see what colour it is and it has simply a shiny black plastic top. The polish has a short brush which I rather liked as it allowed for easier control and I would recommend this to anyone that struggles to keep a steady hand when painting their nails. The width of the brush is perfect for me, I dislike wide brushes because it makes it very difficult to use the '3 stroke application' (one down middle, one either side) but this brush is the perfect size for allowing this kind of application. MUA nail polishes contain 6.2ml of polish, compared to the average bottle of polish which is 10ml this is a little dissapointing however for the price you really can't go wrong, plus it is very rare that a whole bottle of nail varnish is used up before it unevitably dries out or in my case I simply get bored of the colour and move on.

*Colour range*
I was slightly dissapointed at the range of colours available in my superdrug store, it seemed to be full of different shades of pink, one black and the greige colour I purchased, however when I got home and looked online I discovered that MUA actually have quite an extensive range of colours so my superdrug store must have either sold out of most colours or only have a small amount of the range on sale (it is quite a small store). The colours don't have names as such, they are just called shade 1, 2, 3 etc. Here is an idea of what colour each shade is: Shade 1 - Glittery Dark Blue, Shade 2 - Black, Shade 3 Violet Pink, Shade 4 - Coral, Shade 5 - Turquoise, Shade 6 - Orange, Shade 7 - rusty gold/orange, Shade 8 - Red, Shade 9 - Blue, Shade 10 - Pearly Pink, Shade 11 - Silver, Shade 12 - Barbie Pink, Shade 13 - greeny/blue, Shade 14 - Metallic Red, Shade 15 - Coraly Pink, Shade 16 - Pale Pink, Shade 17 - Clear, Shade 18 - French manicure pink, Shade 19 - Grey/beige.

*My experience*
I am so impressed with this nail polish. I must admit even though I had heard good things about MUA polishes, I was sceptical, afterall how good can a £1 nail polish really be?!...well, I'm VERY happy to say that extremely good is the answer. I applied one coat of the polish on to my nails at first and was amazed at how good they looked. There really was no need to apply a second coat, the polish is very pigmented, it dried on my nails within a few minutes and I was left with a smooth coat of polish. Unlike numerous polishes I have used in the past I had no streaks just a lovely layer of polish. I love the colour (shade 19), it is so fashionable right now and will go with any outfit as it is a very neutral colour. I will definitely be purchasing more from the MUA range in the future.

*Price*
I have already mentioned that every product in the MUA range is just £1! However, as I am totally amazed by this I think it deserves a paragraph all to itself. For £1 and products of this quality you really can't go wrong and there is no better feeling that treating yourself without having the hole in your purse to provoke the guilt everytime you open it.

Summary: Superdrug have come up trumps with this range!
