I would never of discovered this special long lasting lip balm if it hadn't of been from my friend Marie, who came over from America to visit me last year. We were comparing beauty products and saying about how cheap the prices are in the States, instead of over here where everything seems overpriced, not only to her, but also from my point of view. There are also lots of products from America that I have never ever seen available in this country before, Mama Coco's Hawaiian Lip Balm is just one of them. It is a shame to think that we are missing out on wonderful natural products like these, when all of the products seen stacked on the shelves of English Boot's or SuperDrug's are one's from large companies such as Maybeline and Rimmel, nothing Home-made or traditional, nothing like the small ranges. Even Bonne Bell (which is American) yet sold in many places around England such as local chemists and a few Asda's etc. sell a small product range of this brand.

There is a long story behind how this marvellous lip balm is actually made. It was all started by this girl when she was at college and she met a really wise lady who helped her discover the secret of lip balm making. Everyone else was celebrating their graduations, but the girl continued to share experiences with the wise lady. One particular thing that the girl remembers is how she used coconut oils in different blends to make cures and moisturisers for the body. The wise lady was especially known for the way that she processed the coconut meat into moisturising oils. Through later study and research, the girl found that many people on the island had used this process for generations.
The girl has been following through the same method for approximately seven years; she has made several hundreds of batches of lip balm as well as having the time to bring up two children. She is the creator if Mama Coco's lip balm products that are based in Honolulu, Hawaii and are an ea
rth-friendly and cruelty free company.

All of the substances used to make their lip balms come from local farmers who follow through organic processes. They are also proud to boast that the only testers of their product are humans; no animals participate in any testing that they carry out.

The lip balm comes in four groovy flavours. I know that on the little description about this product on DooYoo, it says that there is a flavour called Tradewind Mint, but I have never tried this one before and have so far, never seen it available to purchase. Hopefully in the future, if this product does come up on the site then I will be able to buy it and try it out, as well as let you know what I think of it. I have tried all of the other flavours of the smooth and gorgeous lip balm. These include Coconut Cream, Ka'u Orange Cream, Hawaiian Vanilla, and their brand new flavour: Big Island Cocoa.

My favourite lip balm flavour out of the four has to be Coconut Cream, because not only is it original, but it also smells almost good enough to eat (even though the others do too). It has its own truly tropical flavours and tastes a bit like a Pina Colada cocktail concoction. They say on the packet that it is like their 'naked' flavour because it hasn't had any other flavours blended in, it is just left as the original smell and from the base ingredients.

The ingredients (as written on the back of the tin) are:
Hand-blended ingredients: Virgin coconut oil from organically-grown coconuts, cocoa butter from organically-grown cacao trees, certified organic unrefined beeswax, certified organic Ohia Lehua honey, certified organic calendula extract, wild-harvested sea buckthorn berry, certified organic rosemary extract, flower essences of yarrow, self-heal and Echinacea.

The little tins that they come in, certainly do justice for the product. They are really cute, can slip in your pocket and they also look really stylish and
flashy. They look much better than those little lip stick applicators that you have to twist and turn to move the actual lip balm up, or the little bots where you have to dip your whole finger in to get a small glob of the lip balm. With this...the lip balm isn't as runny or as glossy as Vaseline, it is more of a shiny yet smooth lip balm that you don't have to sink your finger into to get some from the tin onto your lips. Instead all you have to do is gently press your finger across the lip balm and then you'll find that you get an ample amount to apply.

The tins contain 25oz of lip balm which is enough to last you a good three or four months or more if you apply it frequently or regularly (I put mine on at least three times a day!)

The price is also an extra bonus; they cost four dollars fifty cents each tin. In case you don't know how much this is in British Pounds, I have found out that isa very cheap approximate £3.00.

Just thought I'd mention that in capital letters, so that you all realised not to miss out on a good offer when you see one. It's a great opportunity, because it was only recently that I paid the full price for one of those.

Hawaiian Vanilla is a delicious flavour; I probably think this because of my expensive taste. I bet you didn't know that Real Hawaiian Vanilla is the second most expensive spice in the entire world! It is organically cultivated along the coastline of Hamakua. They add a special blend of secret ingredients to make it feel and taste its best. They infuse the vanilla beans in coconut oil for over six weeks for the real product to mature and improve. The result, as described on the tin: a sweet, light, fragrant lip balm. I can certainly couch for that!

Ka'u Orange Cream is another great flavour, a bit different from the res
t. A tiny bit more zesty and fruity than the others, which are based around coconut. This product is definitely more citrusy, and great for those who are fans of lime, lemon and grapefruit flavours, not only orange. This product is made out of the sweetest navel oranges found in the orange grove on Big Island. They add tangerine, mandarin and other flavours to make it a scrumptious creamy blend.

Big Island Cocoa Lip Balm is made with a very large amount of Hawaii's finest chocolate. Connoisseurs consider it to be the world's finest tasting chocolate. I have never had the lucky chance to taste this chocolate before, but from what I have heard, it has a very soft touch and tastes like velvet - melting in the mouth. The chocolate is made from precious cacao beans grown in the Untied States of America.

Unfortunately, because the product does come from the USA, there isn't a wide range of ways to process your order apart from either giving out your details over the net, over the phone or possibly by fax.

They say that it is very safe to order with their company and that there have never been any cases reported of anything going wrong like credit card details being released without the cardholder's knowledge. They accept Via, MasterCard and Money Orders drawn on the U.S funds. They state that they will not give out any of your personal information to any third parties, which at least gives you a bit of peace of mind.

They have a go
od returns policy where any unopened products that haven't been used can be returned and a full refund given, damaged items will be replaced with an identical item, but obviously opened or use products cannot be returned. They do ask on the website that if you want to return anything, that you inform them beforehand either by phone or by e-mail before sending any products back through the post. This is so that they can give you a special returns number that you can quote when sending the product back.

It is reassuring to know that the products are top quality, in fact they were one of the top five beauty products chosen on about.com, they thought it was a very impressive product.
