Ever a sucker for a brand new product line (especially where make up is concerned) I was delighted to discover this new range on offer at my local Boots. I really wish I hadn't bothered. The Margaret Astor range has all the usuals - lipsticks, eyeshadows, foundations and the like, but I plumped for the Perfect Finish pressed powder, supposedly suitable for all skin types. I chose the very palest shade they had, 001, and off I trotted back home to slap on the slap. ...soon afterwards I was scraping it all back off again and scrubbing my face clean. This has to be the most deceptive powder ever - it looked pale in the shop, but back at home it magically turned my face tangerine coloured. The scent was overpowering - very old fashioned smelling, too, in a sort of chalky-faced Great Aunt giving you a whiskery kiss kind of a way. The coverage felt sooo heavy, even though I'd barely whisked the horrible stuff over my face, and looked it too. I had a glance at the tango-faced nightmare staring back at me in the mirror and decided I had wasted my money. I have tried using it again a couple of times since - I am not one who likes to give up on these things and admit I've made a mistake - but each time I've ended up washing it off again. The second time I used it, the entire lot crumbled into an orange powdery mess all over my bedroom carpet. I was not best pleased. The packaging is naff, too. Will I be buying this again? I'll leave that for you to work out!
