Advantages: Thicker, lusher lashes
Disadvantages: Not good for lenthening
Always on the search for the perfect mascara, i went looking for a teenage favorite, Max Factor Classic Eyes mascara, couldn't find it (Boots/Superdrug), but there was this 2000 Calorie version... i figured i wanted Max Factor, so i'll have it! I bought mine in Boots for around £7.99, fair price i think although i doubt its on offer often as it is a well established product.
Being well established brings me to the first point, this mascara looks exactly the same as i remember it 15 years ago! its a classy navy blue & gold design, but not exactly cutting edge or interesting. Max Factor must sell so much they're scared to change it incase Nana Smith gets confused and stops buying it. Blah-boring in my opinion.
Once opened the black mascara (other shades are available - black is the only one for me tho) is pretty gloopy and wet, i usually have to wipe a bit off on the top of the bottle from the end of the wand to avoid poking it in the corner of my eye and creating havoc. i find this mascara slides on very easily. it is thick, but what do you expect for 2000 Calories? the wand itself is bulk standard in style, but does the job of coating my lashes evenly and separating them well. sometimes i do need to blot it or comb through the lashes as too much is sometimes applied. as long as you do this before it dries you'll be fine.
On the bottle it does state 'dramatic look' and i would agree, my lashes are significantly thicker (MF say 300% more volume, i say this could be true). it really opens up my eyes and creates the look i want. i'm lucky to have fairly long lashes, and i wouldn't say this really lenthens them much, maybe 10% so not great for those with shorter eyelashes. like my mum, she used to use this and it just made her lashes look thick & stubby.
lastly this mascara has great wear. it says that it is smudgeproof and i would agree - i wore it saturday night and whilst on my lazy sunday i did not take the mascara off - it gave me a more subtle daytime look the day after! I'll admit i did tidy it up underneath when i got up, but even so there was still plenty on.
Summary: wear it all day and night (and the next day)
