” Silky-soft fluid formula covers fine lines and built-in serum with SPF 15* helps protect your skin from the sun. *with daily use”. The product is available in six similar warm shades. Max Factor have alienated those with pale or dark skin.
Packaged in eleven centimetre tubular plastic container with black lid/push down dispense, product is supplied in a handy and the pump action also has a base that brings the product upwards in the container so that none is wasted and it is easy to see how much is left through the clear plastic container.
I applied it using my fingertips in an upwards and outwards motion and was pleased enough with the results, my skin felt comfortable and it was easy to blend in so that I could lose the line easily. However, I noticed it did not really work well under my eyes and it seemed to accentuate the slight darkness and bagginess there at the time.
Over time though I grew used to the product and if I noticed my lower eye was crepe or dark I just had to remember to apply a concealer. I also noticed that it would come off of my nose easily if I needed to wipe it or blow it within about the first hour of application.
1. To deliver instant medium to high coverage
2. To improve skin tones
As well as having these attributes: Anti-aging; Brightening; Concealing; Flawless; Natural; Radiant; Day-time; Day-to-night; Natural; Silky (accessed August 2014).
I have to agree that this product does live up to the main claims and would add that it is comfortable and easy to wear, I just set it with a face powder and it is ready to go. My tone whilst wearing the product in the right shade looks good and even, but not overly made up.
I rarely suffer breakouts these days apart from the odd blemish around a certain time of the month and my skin is a healthy “normal”. However, as I stay out of the sun and use high SPF my skin is pale and can also suffer with a bit of dullness when the heating first goes on at work. So I have fairly easy needs for a foundation, but still found some make my skin look like orange peel or give a drawn appearance. Not so this 2in1. I am pleased with how it boost and lifts my skins tone whilst I am wearing it.
The Ageless Elixir is supposed to be a 2in1 foundation/serum product, but I didn’t notice serum advantages, as a foundation it’s a favourite product. Featuring SPF15, always find this an advantage in a facial product. SPF protects against the suns harmful rays and against free radicals, therefore anything that helps my skin battle against the pressures of modern living without harm has to be good.
Creates a nice even finish easily and a natural look. However, friend persuaded to buy the “Natural” shade when preferred “Ivory” out of stock surprised how much darker it made my face, how much more difficult to create an invisible line along my jaw/neckline.
This product stays well all day apart from if I have a cold or under my eyes if I cry or my eyes water for any reason. Removing it using a normal cleanser not always sufficient ending up with some on my towel. I do find that a quick sweep with eye make-up remover or using a toner ensures removal.
The foundation has a really nice fragrance, that boosts confidence after application as it is so pleasing and uplifting. Not only do you look good, but you feel good too.
Priced at around the 12.99 I would suggest that this product represents excellent value for money available from Boots and other MaxFactor outlets.
I have bought this a few times since the initial trial product and I know friends and colleagues who took advantage of their samples ad vouchers were pleased too. Like me, some find that the lightest shade is the best and I know a Spanish colleague found that non she tried on a trip to Boots would work on her skin tone. I have not known anyone who needs other than the “Ivory” or “Natural” shades.
I recommend this MaxFactor 2in1 ageless elixir foundation as a good daily use foundation. I’m not sure about the anti-aging claims, but I have always found it lovely to use as long as I have the right shade. Otherwise, like so many it is unforgiving.
I have used this product for quite some time now. I find this liquid based foundation is really easy to apply and easy to move around my face. It covers really well and rubs in so no thick uneven patches like some other products.
Its good that this has SPF coverage as I would never remember to put sun cream on before putting my foundation on so the fact it combines both makes it even more effortless.
The pump bottle is great as usually one pump is enough for through the day time but you can build the foundation up a bit more if needed on a night out. Also inside the bottle moves up with each pump meaning you really get every last drop of foundation. I find this product really good at covering lines and wrinkles without sitting in the creases and making them more obvious.
This foundation really works for me as and has a natural finish.
I purchased the Max Factor ageless elixir foundation on a bit of a whim really - I usually buy Max Factor foundations for everyday use but this wasn't one I'd used before. Boots had run out of my usual one though and I'd left it to the last minute to replace them so I opted for this in the light ivory (number 40) shade. I picked this one above others in the Max Factor collection just based on the tester sample in the shop. It was bought as part of a 3 for 2 offer in Boots on cosmetics, but individually it costs £12.99 in there. There is 30ml of foundation in the bottle.
It is available in a few shades, the other ones being warm almond, natural, beige, golden and bronze. I have quite a pale complexion and I think I use the lightest shade available in this foundation with light ivory, although I will note that I usually only use the second to third lightest shade in other foundations so perhaps there isn't as big a choice of shades in this range as there should be.
It comes in a plastic bottle with a golden base and black lid. The lid pops off and reveals a black pump. Each time the pump is used, a piece of plastic underneath the foundation moves up slowly inside so you can judge when it's getting low, although the labelling doesn't make it very easy as it's not see through.
The foundation is a 2 in 1 with serum but I have to admit I didn't pay too much notice to that at the time of buying. It is supposed to protect against the aging effects the Sun has, although living in Britain I'm not sure I am qualified to comment on this claim! It also has SPF 15 built into it to give extra protection and it has moisturising qualities too. I haven't noticed the moisturising qualities through my everyday use but I did notice it when we went on holiday a few months ago when applying in the evening after a day in the Sun. Usually I find that I hate applying make up after being out in the heat all day, but this felt quite nice on my face afterwards and was still very easy to apply unlike others I've used before.
The foundation and serum 2 in 1 claims two things:
1. To deliver instant medium to high coverage
2. To improve skin tones
I find that both of these statements are true, to a certain extent anyway. With the coverage, I would say it is definitely a medium coverage rather than high. I use my mine every day all over my face and then apply a powder foundation on top. I find it does give good coverage although I couldn't wear this independently unless on a day just around the house - I personally need the powder on top to create a much more even finish and wouldn't ever go out with this applied on it's own.
I find it does improve my skin tone. I have quite an uneven skin tone, I have freckles over my nose and slightly darker areas under my eyes. I find that applying this evens it out quite a lot, although again I do find applying the powder foundation on top makes it better. I wouldn't say that it eradicates the darker areas, but then it doesn't claim to do that, just improve their look which it does.
When applying, I just use my fingers and no brushes or pads. Perhaps applying with a pad would give a much better finish but I find it easier and quicker to just use my fingertips to blend it in. I needs around 3 pumps from the bottle to cover my face completely. It's quite a thick foundation really, thicker than others I've used from the Max Factor range but I don't find that this has any detrimental effect on blending it in as it rubs in fairly easily.
The best quality I think it has is it's scent - it's devine! It has a floral scent I think and I love the smell when I'm applying it! Something I've not noticed in the past with other types.
I would recommend the 2 in 1 ageless elixir foundation as a general foundation, I wouldn't specifically buy this to help counteract the aging process of the skin though as I've not noticed that I look any younger! I rate it 4 stars overall as it meets its claims but only to a certain extent. I won't be buying Max Factor for a few months as I've got some premium products to use first - next time I do though I'm not sure whether I'll pick this one up or my original so it must be quite good to get me thinking!
Thanks for reading :o)
