Advantages: Fairly priced, great shade range, mixable with moisturisers

Disadvantages: A little cakey after owning a tube for a while?

I was a loyal fan of Max Factor's miracle touch foundation over winter, which provided the best colour match for my skin that I have found in foundation yet - the brand have 8 shades to choose from, each with subtle tone variations to suit every complexion. However, when warmer weather rolled around I wanted something a little lighter and more dewy on my skin - and whilst miracle touch provides a smooth, airbrushed matte finish on it's own, I needed a liquid foundation that I could apply powder over throughout the day.

Sticking with a Max Factor foundation allowed me to continue using my matching skin shade (golden), and at around £10 I still wasn't breaking the bank on beauty basics. Advertised as containing colour adapting particles that reflect the pigment in your skin, colour adapt suits my skin and blends to invisible perfection along the jawline. I have owned this foundation for several months now, and whether it's my makeup regime or the actual product it feels a little too much when applied straight from the tube. I have taken to mixing a blob of it with an equal blob of oil-free moisturiser in the day (a great tip for people who need SPF in their beauty routine!), or liquid highlighter (e.g. Wet 'n' Wild's megapump shimmer, Benefit's that gal/ high beam) However, colour adapt is not overly cakey and this probably just suggests that I need to buy a tinted moisturiser instead!

I do find that I still use a concealer (Benefit's erase paste) on undereye shadows and spider veins, as the foundation doesn't cover skin imperfections that are not a similar colour to skin tone. However I would definitely recommend Max Factor's colour adapt foundation to girls on a budget, who are after a natural looking liquid product - and Max factor more generally as providing a fantastic shade range for facial cosmetics.

Summary: Smooth, natural colour
