Advantages: does change colour

Disadvantages: doesn't change enough...

I usually buy max factor's powder foundation and it's been a staple in my make up bag over the years. However, I got some of this as a free gift with some product or other, and so thought I'd give it a proper go. I got it in natural and was quite sceptical about the whole 'will adapt to your skin tone' promise. However, I did think that if it did deliver, it would solve the endless worry that I was wearing/buying completely the wrong tone and looked too white, or even worse, completely orange!

The promise

It promises to adapt to your individual skin tone, even out tone and banishing blemishes. Apparently, colour adapting particles pick up and reflect the pigments in your complexion. It doesn't say how close to your skin tone it has to be though, which is a bit odd I feel, as there is a choice of 7 shades. But if it works so well, why so many shades?!

This is a liquid foundation, that changes consistency when blended in, to become more of a powder and is very light and soft. Nothing worse than a heavy foundation, but I couldn't feel it on my face, so plus points there. It is a pump bottle, which doesn't give much with each pump, which is good as it prevents wastage and you don't need much of this. The bottle is a good size, but as some of you may know from my other reviews, I am a sucker for clear bottles and this isn't at the bottom, which is so infuriating as it's hard to know how much is left.

Well, I have to admit I was cynical, but I was amazed by this product. When I first applied the foundation, it was too dark, but it actually DID adapt to my skin, although not perfectly I feel and maybe I need a lighter shade. For this reason, I'm only going to give it 3 stars as I feel that while it does change colour, it doesn't eliminate the risk factor, as I'd so hoped it would. Also, it is a bit pricey: £9.64 from amazon, probably more from Boots. Saying that, it does last a long time.
