Max Factor Earth Spirit Eye Shadow comes in numerous shades and I have a couple. The eye shadows come in two options the shimmer and the matt. I have both.
I particularly love the one that is called Burnt Oak. It brushes on easily and smoothly. The colour is perfect, more natural than fake. It's not too dark or too light just somewhere in between. One, of the two, Burnt Oak shadow has a slight shimmer in the light and makes me feel like it makes my eyes look sexier.
I love how confident I feel with this eye shadow. It doesn't emphasise any creases on the eye lids but blends in smoothly which means it does what the company professes. My second Burnt Oak neutral eye lid cover looks like it has a matte rather than glossy finish.
The astonishing point to me is that this is a high quality product being sold for prices at the low end of the market. I have other eye shadows that have cost, well, silly amounts of dosh and yet I keep returning back to this one. I think, of all my eye shadows, this is probably my favourite and it's cheap! It doesn't feel cheap on my skin. It looks smart in its packaging too. It seems to me to be long lasting. I don't need to put a lot of powder on my brush to get a good coverage of my eyelids.
I've had no problems with sensitivity on my skin which I sometimes experience with other skin products. It comes off easily when I'm ready to remove it but stays on my eyes for hours.
If you need, or want, eye shadow I cannot think of a single reason why you shouldn't buy any of the colours from the Max Factor Earth Spirit Eye Shadow range.
I paid about £4 for the 'Burnt Oak' eye shadow and this is good value for money.
Recently I have been going through my make up kit having a bit of a throw out, revamping it all a bit and generally getting rid of loads with then a big excuse to buy more. However some products have stayed of course and this is one of them as I use it often.
I am a huge fan of Max Factor and have owned and still do plenty of their make up range. Sure I will buy cheaper make up from time to time but if looking for something percific then its Max Factor I look to as I love the quality of the range as a whole.
I really do like these Earth Spirits eyeshadows and way back I bought the Onxy shade from Boots for about £4.50 and in more recent times I purchased Stormy Blue for £3.34 including postage and packaging from Amazon. At the moment as far as I am aware there are only eght colours in this range to choose from however if you mooch about you will find others so whether they're older stock Im not sure.
The eyeshadow comes in a dark blue plastic round pot with a see through lid to the top of it with MF etched into it in a gold colour and on the underside of that the colour is stated and contact details for Max Factor are given. These come with no applicator or mirror or anything which to be fair I don't think you really need with a single eyeshadow anyway.
So as I have mentioned I own two dark colours in these though you can get your mitts on lighter shades and even ones with a little added sparkle (my next purchase!).
My Onyx eyeshadow is a dark flat grey colour and my Stormy Blue is a little shimmery and a very deep and rich blue. Both are easy to apply and to remove (with my usual make up removing routine) and are fine and silky powders. Both are easy to apply and blend and when on feel really smooth and never agitate my eyes, crease or fade. I can build the colour up with these to my hearts content without the product ever feeling caked on and with my Onyx shade I like to use it for definition and eye eyelining and with darker colours usually I find that when they flake and the likes they can end up giving the panda eyes look, well these don't they are fab from application to blending and whats more once on the eyes they stay on crisp all day long till I want to remove them!
These are exceptionally good quality, reliable and make applying dark colours a doddle and they come with a massive thumbs up from me and what makes them an even better purchase is the price that Amazon is selling them for at the moment...I'm off right now to order more!
Available in good Chemists and of course online too!
I have currently banned myself from buying any beauty products, I have make up bags bulging all over the place so I'm going to try and use up some of my older make up before buying anything new!
When I opened one of these bags I came across this a little pot of Max Factor Earth Spirit eyeshadow in a pink shade named 'Rose Petal' (501).
There are a good few shades available, each looks strong in colour, they range from almond and brown to aqua, plum and onyx.
I'm not very adventurous with my make up and tend to stick to neutral shades of browns, beiges and golds. I saw my sister wearing this pink one day though and decided I had to get one myself.
I think I only used this once or twice so have recently started using it again.
It looks like a bright pink blusher more than an eyeshadow when in the pot, but when applied it's a really nice soft shade. It doesn't look too bright but still has depth in the colour and is something different to what I'm used to.
I still stick to my neutral shades for daytime use but this is a really nice change for the occasional night out. There is a shimmery effect from the eyeshadow which is really pretty and subtle. It is a shade that you could wear both day and night if you wish to.
I find that when wearing this eyeshadow my eyes don't feel heavy or clogged with make up. It's natural and smooth feeling on the skin and is very easy to apply, the colour glides on without the need for a lot of the eyeshadow.
The pot is very small with a black base and a clear screw off lid. The tub hasn't got any damage, only a bit of powder on the outside from other make up from other brands where the plastic casing has broken when being bashed around in my make up bag. This one appears to be quite sturdy a sturdy little thing in comparison.
The eyeshadow is picked up really well by an eyeshadow applicator or brush and there's not a lot of loose powder falling out of the tub.
I also found this eyeshadow in a cream colour 'Pale Pebble' (101) which I have started to use as a base for many different colours and now use often, other colours blend really well with it.
I have used the cream much more often that the pink but have barely made a dent in it so I would guess these are going to last me quite some time.
One of the things I really like about this eyeshadow is it's staying power. I find it stays on well for hours and doesn't fade or smudge. I've never felt the need to touch up my eye make up when wearing this and it is still easily removed with a wet wipe.
I've seen the Rose Petal shade online for as little as £1.23 which is a fantastic price for a good brand and a good quality eye shadow. I'm tempted to buy another colour but am sticking to my ban for now!
Newer shades can be bought from around £4 which is still a good price although it's worth shopping around as prices vary quite a lot from place to place.
This has become a favourite of mine over the past few weeks and is one I would definitely recommend. The colour has more strength and lasts longer than other brands and feels great when on.
Review of Max Factor Earth Spirits Eye Shadow
Max Factor cosmetics have been around for many years and the company logo is a familiar sight in High Street stores. The company is part of the Proctor and Gamble group. The Max Factor Earth Spirit range is produced in the UK.
**The Eye Shadow**
This eye shadow is presented in a circular screw topped container. The lid is clear and the eye shadow is a pressed powder type. There is no applicator provided.
The shade I have is number 105 (Terra firma) this is a deep brown eye shadow with a hint of glitter. I particularly like brown toned eye shadows, I feel they suit my colouring best and I have several in my make-up drawer from various cosmetic ranges. This one from Max Factor is my current favourite.
The Earth Spirits eye shadow range consists mainly of neutral, natural colours, so no vibrant blues or startling greens here!
I believe I bought my eye shadow from Boots and paid around £4 for it.
I generally apply this eye shadow with a brush and find it goes on very smoothly and evenly. I prefer powder eye shadows as I think they last longer and suit my skin type. I have found that Earth Spirits eye shadow lasts very well indeed, it stays where I put it giving a good depth of colour, with no creasing, flaking or fading.
I find a relatively small amount of eye shadow is needed to achieve the look I want, making the product very economical in use. If users wish to experiment with their eye colour, this eye shadow lends itself very well to blending as although firm in the pot, it is a fairly soft powder shadow once it is on your brush.
Removal is a doddle; a wipe with a make-up remover pad is all that is required. This does not irritate my eyes at all, another plus in my opinion.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
I am very pleased with both the results achieved using this eye shadow and with the staying power of the product. Although I am not particularly loyal to any cosmetic brand, I have always liked Max Factor products and tend to look at their range first when buying make up.
I like the neutral shades offered by the Earth Spirit range as these are the sort of colours I prefer. This eye shadow is long lasting, easy to use and it looks good, I would recommend it to anyone.
I am awarding this a 5* rating.

If you've read any of my other makeup reviews you'll know I'm a full face of makeup girl. As I grew older and more confident with applying makeup I started to experiment more with different brands and colours rather than sticking to the same old same old. Max Factor Earth Spirits Eyeshadow is one that I tried a about 4 years ago now and have continued to use.
Max Factor is a cosmetics company founded in 1909 by a Polish cosmetician called Maksymilian Faktorowicz. It is now owned by Procter & Gamble who purchased the company in 1991.
Max factor created many cosmetic innovations which we now use today such as Liquid Nail Enamel the forerunner of today's nail polishes. Lip Gloss which they invented in the 1930's and the first waterproof makeup to name just a few!
In the company's early years notable clients were Jean Harlow, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford and Judy Garland! As a result of this virtually all of Hollywood's major movie actresses became regular clients og the Max Factor beauty salon.
Billed by Max Factor as the "ultimate everyday eyeshadow!" It contains micro colour pigments meaning that colours are resistant to creasing or fading.
It is a single pressed powder eyeshadow that comes in a 5g round plastic container with a black base and a clear screw top lid so you can see the actual colour through the lid. It has MF in gold embossed on the lid. It has a very light and silky texture and is available in 13 shades ranging from soft neutrals to through to strong fashion colours making it ideal to create a subtle day look for the office or a dramatic, sexy look in the evening.
101 Pale Pebble
107 Burnt Bark
108 Inca Bronze
112 Stormy Blue
113 Olive Leaf
122 Lush Lilac
124 Modernist Pink
128 Passionate Plum
129 Angel Eyes
131 Ultra Aqua
132 Ultra Blue
I have blue eyes and have always loved purple eyeshadow, I find they really bring out the colour in my eyes. I have this in number 128 Passionate Plum which is a mid purple colour. I just use a cheap sponge applicator to apply this as it doesn't come with anything to put it on with. The texture is very soft and silky as I rub my sponge applicator into the eyeshadow. It glides onto my eyelid and feels lovely and soft, not at all grainy. I do find this a little on the light side pigment wise when it's actually applied. This is great if you want a subtle look but I tend to go over it a few times and build it up to get the deeper colour that I like. I use this on my lid and a sheer white shadow on my brow bone. I blend the two together where they meet so I go form darker purple on my eyelid to lighter purple blending into the sheer white on my brow bone. I can apply this in the morning and it lasts all day too which is what I want from an eyeshadow. I don't find re-touching my face powder or lip gloss but I draw the line at having to re-apply my eyeshadow throughout the day. It's so silky and soft on and it doesn't feel drying on my lids, there is absolutely no caking or creasing with this either. Although a small pot which is quite shallow it does last ages. I've been using it for years now and am very happy with it and have re purchased it many times. In fact the eyeshadow I'm wearing in my profile picture is Max Factor Earth Spirits.
Avoid solid blocks of colour - carefully blended eyeshadow looks professional and will flatter the eyes.
Make sure that you remember the basic rule: dark shadows deepen or hollow an area; light shadows make an area stand out. So light shadows look fresh on lids and browbones, whereas dark shadows make the most of lashlines and contours by adding definition.

I bought one of these max factor earth spirit eyeshadows a while ago. At the time I used eyeshadows more than I do now so it struck me as a good investment.
They come in quite a variety of colours, though like the name suggests most of these are earthy/natural tones. I like the idea of this because natural tones tend to suit you better than really vibrant colours. I picked an earthy brown shadow that had quite a bit of coppery shimmer in it. I've used it on and off for 2/3 years now.
The shadow comes in a navy plastic palette. It has a twist on and off partly frosted/clear plastic lid. The design is very simple and by no means exciting, but it is functional and does the job. I'm not a massive fan of these twist lids as I find they break easily and are time consuming to get off and on. This is no exception, I'd much rather a flip lid as these would make it easier to use.
The shadow does have a lovely silky smooth quality to it which makes it very nice. It is a powder shadow and I tend to apply with my finger, though you could use a brush or applicator. The shadow goes on easily and feels nice ones applied.
I have to say the colour is not for me, I find this coppery brown colour just makes me look like I've been punched in the eye. As that's not the look I generally go for I have to put it down to poor judgement on my part. I do find a lot of the colours to be nice to look at, but having tested others in store I'm not sure the natural look is for me after all. They probably look better with darker skin, but my pale freckly skin can't quite pull it off.
I have also found the shadow to be overly powdery which is a little irritating. This means a great deal of dust is created by applying and wearing this which can in turn ruin other make up previously applied.
As you can tell I'm not exactly sold on this shadow or the others in the range. I paid £4.50 for this shadow which is a decent price, and not one which I regret spending as I'm glad to have tried it.
Overall, not the perfect shadow for me.
For me there are no better eye shadows than the one that have been created by L'oreal. But I am always willing to experiment with different brands just in case I find something which impresses me more and when I saw the Earth Spirits collection by Max factor I thought it was worth a whirl.
What does the product do?
The product is an eye shadow which is said to be versatile and long lasting. Max factor promises that even after wearing the product all day long, it still won't have creased or faded. They claim that the highly pigments shadows can double up as an eyeliner and that the product comes in a colour to suit every occasion.
There certainly are a wide range of shades to choose from and each one has a lovely cute name to accompany it. Some of the neutral shades include Pale Pebble and Almond and the brown shades include Inca Bronze and Burnt Bark. If purples and pinks are more your thing, you could choose from Lush Lilac and Modernist Pink or if greens and blues are your thing, you may be tempted to get your hands on Olive Leaf or Angel Eyes. For the smokey eye look, you could choose Onyx or Stormy Blue. I chose to buy Smokey Gold which is a mixture of Khaki green and Bronze with Gold particles of glitter mixed into it.
How does the product work?
The product contains Mica which is a translucent mineral that that helps the eyeshadows to glide onto the eyelid skin without crumbling or appearing chalky. It also helps to prevent the product from creasing and fading. Also included is talc which absorbs all the excess oils and moisture from the eyelid to give the product longevity and it also helps to prevent the product from creasing and gives it a matte texture on the eyelid. How healthy this ingredients actually are, is another question altogether. A high concentration of pigment allows the colours to show up intensely against the skin.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied in the same way as a normal eye shadow. You can apply the product using your finger, a make up brush or a sponge applicator. I find that a sponge applicator allows greater precision. I sweep the sponge across the product and then sweep the shadow from the inner corner of my eyelid across to the outer corner, taking care not to go too far above the eye socket. I find that adding a darker shade at the outer corner and lighter shade at the inner corner makes the eye shadow enhance your eyes really well.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a compact little container that is light, sturdy and easy to travel with. It has a thick plastic screw top lid that is clear so you can see the shadow inside. It has Max Factor written across the lid and there is some information about the product on the bottom of the pot. The base of the product is made from a navy plastic and the whole product looks classy and is of a high quality.
The product costs around £4 for 14 grams of the shadow. It can be bought from most department stores, large supermarkets and from a variety of online websites so if you shop around, you may find it for a little bit cheaper.
The texture of this product is gorgeous and incredibly silky. It glides across the skin without dragging or pulling my eyelid. The colour is instantly very present and it doesn't take a lot of layering like some shadows do in order to achieve the same colour on the eyelid as the colour in the pot.
When you apply the shadow with a wet sponge, the colour becomes even more vibrant and it actually changes shade a little bit. Whether this is supposed to happen or not, I'm not sure. The glitter particles in the shadow that I have bought are very sparkly and though it's in a classy way, it still makes it a little bit over the top for day wear. I don't think the others come with sparkly bits but as I have only ever purchased the Smokey Gold, I can't be sure.
The powder is packed firmly in the pot which means that when you are applying the product, you won't get powder falling onto your clothes or onto the skin beneath your eyes. The consistency of the product means that it is easy to blend the shadow into the skin. The shadows binds well to the eyelid even without using a primer and stays exactly where it is until you remove it.
I have worn the product all day long and it hasn't budged, smudged or creased unless I have forgotten that I am wearing it and rubbed my eyes but that's my own fault. When it's time to take my make up off, the product is easily removed with my normal cleanser.
The product is advertised as doubling up as an eyeliner but I'm not sure how this would work. I've tried using it in this way using a damp thin make up brush but it didn't really work like an eyeliner in my opinion. It just looked like I'd only applied my eye shadow on half of my eyelid so either I'm doing it wrong or that feature doesn't really work as it should.
All in all, you can't go far wrong with these eye shadows. There are a wide range of shades to choose from, they are long lasting and don't crease or smudge. The colour is highly pigmented and the silky texture glides effortlessly onto the skin without any powder falling onto the skin beneath my eye or onto my clothes. As good as this is, it still hasn't replaced my L'oreal shadows as being my firm favourite. That said, this is a close second!
I used to use these quite often as I used to find them in Savers for only one pound which was a good price for an expensive brand of make-up, mind you I think these eye shadows have been around for quite a while. So that's maybe why they are cheaper than other Max factor make-up.
They come in a huge range of colors and shade which include dark shades, light shades, pastel shades and they have a range of night shades and natural shades. The colors they come in are purple, white, brown, cream, pink, pastel pink, pastel purple, bronze and many, many more. They come in a 12 m amount so you won't run out as quickly as other eye shadows.
They are great to either fit in your handbag or make-up bag. So they hardly take up massive room, but they can get lost quite easily especially if you throw the eye shadow in the bottom of your handbag.
These eye shadows can be found in Savers for only one pound - that's what I call a bargain!
Overall, this is a great eye shadow if you are on a budget for make-up or if you want a different change of mood or eye shadow color. So it's worth a nice buy or if you fancy treating yourself to some new make-up for a change!
I wanted to write a review on another Max Factor product, but being that I will have to wait for that to be put on the Dooyoo list I thought I would write about another of their products that I have discovered to be really good.
When I bought my new mascara ( always been faithfull to the Benefit range, but the assistant drove me away!) I was given a goodie bag as well as my free gift if I spent over £15.00 which I didn't quite I was 2 pence under, but the Max Factor girl said she would still give it to me ( she was really sweet and helpful!).
As well as the usual vouchers, bits and bobs I got two of these sample eyeshadows, one in my goodie bag and one in my freebie. I had never heard or seen these before, but maybe that's because I don't really glance at the Max Factor counter that much. One was in a colour called "Ultra Aqua", which is a lovely greeny colour. Now I was a bit concerned as it looks like it has a slight shimmer to it and as we all know that when you get older you have to be careful with this look.
Well when I put some on my finger, which I must say just glides on just enough without flicking all over the place ( like some I've used in the past that seen to get on your face or t-shirt) it gave just a slight shimmer without showing up any lines or wrinkles in the eye area. I was really pleased with this colour as I usually stick to just netural colours of beige and brown, luckily for me the other free sample was actually in a lovely "Burnt Bark" which as you can imagine is a shade of brown, this again glides on the eyes really easily and leaves just a slight browny shimmer, which can be worn during the day as it isn't over the top. I expect if you was to reapply then you could get a much heavier shimmer, but as I said before I would avoid this.
I found that when I wear this eyeshadow it tends to stay on all day and doesn't go all creased in the sockets neither does the colour fade away, but is still on at the end of the evening. It is hard to describe the texture as it looks like a powder, but actually goes on like a cream to a certain degree.
These are available in single colour pots, but although I got these from Boots when going on their webpage I noticed that they no longer sell this item ( proberly due to yet another new super duper magical eyeshadow out!). Luckily it can still be bought on another well known website ( Sounds like a river!), which supply these eyeshadows in 10 amazing colours ( I won't list them all as you will be able to see for yourself if you are interested in these!).
It is currently being sold at a really good price of £3.49 with free delivery. I will be going back to that page as soon as this review is written, to order some for myself!. I also notice that they are saying that you can also buy this in a matt form as well as a shimmery one, which is really good news. They also suggest that you can use this eyeshadow as an eye liner which is something that I hadn't thought about.
So I will be buying a lot more of this in the future and will give this eyeshadow 5 Dooyoo stars for lasting power!.
These eye shadows come in a neat little pot with a screw lid. You only get one colour per pot but this doesn't stop you from collecting all the colours in this range! There's no applicator that comes with the eye shadow, but I've found that you don't necessarily need one. A lot the of colours available in this range look better if they are applied with your finger, this way you can blend colours better and give your eyes a more smoky effect - a look which is really in at the moment! There's a variety of colours available in this range so there's something for everyone and plenty of different looks you can try out. I wear eye shadow every day so really recommend this product if you are looking for an eye shadow that will last a whole day at the office without fading or disappearing into the creases of your eyes.
Earth Spirits Eye Shadow:
I bought this a few months ago when my Rimmel shadow ran out. I have only started to wear eyeshadow recently but I tend to stick to darker, noticeable shades. I have always liked how people two or three tone their eyes, so I thought I would give it a go with this!
Earth spirits is made by Max Factor and it is basically powdered eye shadow in a screw top pot. There is only one colour per pot which is great because then they do not mix! There is a large selection of colours within this range and some of them are quite abstract which is nice.
The reason why I prefer this over Rimmel's eyeshadow is because this does not crumble everywhere so it actually is usable!
The advantages of this eyeshadow are:
*Large selection of colours
*Stays on all day
*Doesn't look tacky half way through the day!
*Easy to use in a small pot
*Looks great on
The disadvantages are:
*You have to buy another colour if you want to do two tone or more
*Small so can get lost easily!
I like these because they are compact, look great on your eyes, you can make it look bold and precise and they are not expensive at all!
These are on sale in health and beauty stores for around £3.00 which is great because they last quite a long time.
I would recommend this range because they are very high quality products.
I must admit I normally got for a dark eye shadow maybe a black to compliment black eyeliner but since the summer was coming up I thought I would invest in some different tones. I headed straight to boots to the max factor stall and begun my mission on a new eye shadow. I decided to opt for the earth spirits range which was a bit of a bargain at under a fiver per shadow so I decided to go for 2 totally different colours.
The eye shadow tub is pretty basic with a see through lid to show the eye shadow colour inside. It displays max factor in black on the front. The see through lid has to be twisted to open.
The eye shadow:
The first shade to catch my eye was ultra aqua. This eye shadow is a shiny green in colour, it isn't too dark nor is it too bright. Once applied the colour is noticeable yet very sheer. It appears shimmery too.
The second shade I chose was burnt bark. At first this shade appeared to be a nice subtle brown colour but upon opening the lid it appeared very rich with a warm tone. When applied this colour is still quite dark but due to the richness it adds a luxurious shimmer to the eyes with lots of definition. I have hazel eyes and it defined them fantastically.
Both eye shadows come in a rather small tub but it does last a long time. Not much shadow is needed and there is no need to re apply through the day due to its amazing staying power. You will definitely get a few months use of these.
I especially like the texture of the powder as it is light and silky. Just one sweep and the colour pigments look great without needing a lot to see true colour potential.
I would defiantly recommend this product; it's cheap and lasts a long time.
I'm fed up of dull eyeshadow that lasts only a couple of hours before it starts to fade and / or crease, so I decided to try this range of eyeshadow by Max Factor.
This product caught my eye because the Max Factor brand is well known for good quality and yet the eyeshadow cost less than a fiver (£4.45). This is pretty reasonable for Max Factor products as they are usually a bit more expensive. I chose the 'burnt bark' colour which is a shiny mid-brown colour. The eyeshadow is pressed powder.
The eyeshadow comes in a small round pot (3.5cm in diameter) which is dark blue and has a clear screw top lid. The packaging is very small and simple making it ideal to slip into your handbag or make-up bag.
Although it is small, the product does seem to last a long time. I use mine nearly everyday but still have loads left after a couple of months. The logo did fade off the top of the lid after a short while however and the tub looks a bit scratched and grubby.
The eyeshadow does not come with an applicator brush or a mirror which is the only set back, however as I have plenty of brushes already this did not matter so much to me.
I found this eyeshadow to be fantastic, it goes on really smoothly and looks so silky. It looks the same colour on your eyes as it does in the tub, unlike some eyeshadows which seem to look a different colour when they are actually on.
I applied it early in the morning and found that it still looked as good by the evening so there was no need to touch up during the day.
It has a really nice sparkly sheen to it. This colour blends really well with a wide variety of colours, I usually use this colour in the sockets of my eye and a yellow colour I already have on my lids and blend them together.
The only bad thing I can think of is that the eyeshadow in the pot did seem to dry out after a few months. It was still usable although I didn't get the same results as when it was first bought.
A great eyeshadow which is really good value as it is cheap yet good quality. I will definitely buy another pot when mine runs out!
Make room in your make-up bag for the ultimate everyday eye shadow! With a light, silky texture, Earth Spirits is ideal to create a subtle day look for the office or a dramatic, sexy look in the evening / Micro colour pigments mean that colours are resistant to creasing or fading and theres a colour to suit every occasion / choose from soft neutrals through to strong, fashion colours hot off the catwalks of Milan and Paris / Its so versatile that make-up artists love to use it as an eyeliner as well.
