Advantages: Creates Volume and Length
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, No False lash Effect
Over the years I have tried many different mascaras, some more expensive than others but I have never been able to find that perfect mascara, All of those different brand mascaras that keep coming out onto the market promising thicker and fuller lashes just never seem to work for me.
So when Max Factor announced the release of their new False lash effect mascara I decided to give it a go,after all what was there to loose.
Now to be truthful I was highly doubting this mascara, how it was going to give my natural lashes that fake, false lash look just being a mascara, well to be truthful I wasn't really holding out too much hope, I was thinking that it would be difficult to make natural eyelashes look fake with just a mascara on anyone, but its claims to be lengthening, volumising and water proof made it a must try for me anyway.
So my next trip out shopping I went into Boots and purchased the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara , It cost me £10.99 which I thought was a little expensive but if it did what it claimed to do then I would be more than happy to pay this price.
Now this mascara claims that you can: "Get lashes that ooze sex appeal " That their newly designed brush contains 50% more bristles than that of their regular brushes, and that they claim it will create volume, not just at the roots of the lashes, but all the way to the tips that will ultimately double your lash size.
Now I do not have particurlaly long lashes and being fair skinned and fair haired my lashes are not that dark so I decided to purchase this mascara in black because if this mascara was going to work and give me those stunning lashes it was offering I wanted them to be noticeable.
As I started to apply the mascara I noticed that the brush was separating them nicely and giving a really good overall coverage, as I was brushing upwards the lashes were being pushed up therefore giving them more volume.
I found the new wand absolutely brilliant, the brush doesn't clump your lashes together and their is no spider effect, although it did take me a little while to get use to it as with the size of the brush I found myself getting it on my lids and when you have already done your eye make up you don't want to be removing it and having to do it over again.
As for the results...Well I wouldn't exactly say that my lashes had that false lash effect that Max Factor were claiming but after 1 - 2 coats and it did give me a nice set of well defined lashes. The mascara had given them more volume and length that looked more dramatic, I think because I chose the black colour (they do offer a range of colours to suit your preferences)
Personally I believe that the results of the mascara like others on the market very much depend on your own eye lashes, how long and thick your lashes are and as to the results you are likely to achieve.
I was also surprised at how easy it was to remove, I bought the waterproof version of the mascara and was worried that like some I had used in the past it would be hard to remove but just a little bit of cleansing lotion on a cotton wool pad and it was all gone.
Overall I think that this mascara is a good buy, although the results achieved were not exactly that high impact false lash look advertised by Max Factor it does create a nice set of well defined lashes that have length and volume and because of that I believe that the slightly expensive £10.99 price tag is worth the investment.
Summary: Creates a nice set of well defined lashes
