Advantages: can give you a dramatic look, no clumping
Disadvantages: application not easy because of size of wand
I have noticed that over the years, my eyelashes are sadly not as thick and lush as they once were so the hunt for the best mascara has been on over the past couple of years in order to revive them to somewhat of their former glory!
Max Factor, the make up of makeup artists is a favoured manufacturer of mine in terms of foundation so I decided to give this mascara a go and bought it from Boots in Black (although it is also available in black/brown) for around £11 pounds.
The Mascara I bought is the false lash effect fusion (volume & Length) and the tube is very thick and purple in colour with silver writing. This particular one is not waterproof but I believe there is a waterproof option. The size of the tube makes gripping it very easy. On unscrewing the lid I met with one of the biggest and fattest wands I have come across with a stubby end instead of a tapered end.
I do get the logic, big thick brush, big, thick lashes but does it work that way. The first couple of tries were an experience in that it was quite difficult to master getting a good coverage of product over my eyelashes as opposed to getting the product either in my eye or all over my eyelid which is not a good look! You do have to take some time and care over your application in order to get the look you want.
The product was of the blackest black and lots of product goes onto the brush when you remove it from the tube, in fact a little too much product and I did find that it helped to wipe a little excess off with a tissue but this does then make you feel like you are a wasting the product.
However, once I had gotten the knack of application this mascara did indeed make my eyelashes appear thicker and more defined although I wouldn't say that it added any length although this is one of their claims along with the fact that their brush contains 50% more bristles than their regular mascaras. This mascara wand did definitely help to volumise my lashes but again, I wouldn't say it gives you quite the look of false eyelashes but then again I am quite happy not to look too false anyway so overall I was very happy with the look of the lashes after two applications and there was definitely a difference between their regular mascaras and this one. The product did not clump and the lashes looked separated and defined. This did give me a more dramatic looking set of lashes and I do save this one to use for evenings and nights out and stick to a regular mascara for a more natural daytime look.
The product came off relatively easily with cleansing wipes so I have no issue there.
So overall although it takes time to get the application right this mascara does produce a nice set of lashes and although it is fairly expensive I do feel it is worth the money for the look you can achieve albeit not quite as dramatic as their claims but that can be said of 99% of products on the market today!
Thanks for reading. x

Summary: good results once you get to grips with the application
