Advantages: Blends easy, good colour and coverage
Disadvantages: Doesn't cover spots, a bit pricey
I have been using the same foundation for many years now, and it is called Max Factor Lasting Performance Make-up Foundation. Over that period of time I have tried many different lipsticks, mascaras, eye shadows and blushers but I have not yet felt the need to change from this foundation.
The foundation comes in a small container. It is a little like a tube but it is not as squeezy as most tubes. It has a twist-on lid at the bottom, which is a good design as it means that when the container is standing up the foundation all flows down towards the lid. This makes it easier to get the last little bit out. Underneath the lid is a small nozzle through which the foundation is dispensed.
The make-up comes in many different shades. I use shade 100, Fair, which I believe is that lightest. My skin is quite pale, sort of English Rose style I suppose, but if you have extremely light skin then you may find you need to go elsewhere to find a foundation shade that is light enough for you.
When the foundation comes out of the tube it is a nice liquid consistency that is very easy to rub onto your face and smooth in. Personally I like to use my fingers to do this though some people use brushes or sponges. I find that the foundation blends into my skin quite nicely and doesn't leave harsh orange lines around the edge of my face the way that some foundations do. It is also easily blended with cream blush to create a nice flush on your cheeks.
I find that the foundation covers up many of my skin issues such as enlarged pores, under eye shadows and blackheads, however it is not thick enough or powerful enough to cover up most spots or blemishes and for that I need a cover up stick. I have never found that I need an extra under-eye concealer though which is a good thing.
The foundation is described on the bottle as having a 'long lasting, smudge proof formula that resists rubbing off onto you or your clothes'. I think this is true as I very rarely get any transference onto my clothes, unless for example I put on a black top immediately after applying foundation, but then that is probably my fault! The foundation lasts a reasonably long time for me but it is not really good enough to withstand kissing or things like that.
I will keep using this make-up as it is a reliable standard that blends easily, covers up my skin issues and is a good colour for me. It does not claim to do any of the more exciting things that newer foundations do, such as stop wrinkles or spots, moisturize the skin or illuminate your face, but I don't mind as it does what it says on the bottle.
You can buy this foundation for £9.30 from Boots or most supermarkets or pharmacies that have a Max Factor make-up section.
Summary: A reliable foundation
