***Why did I purchase this item and what did I get for my money***
I initially purchased this stain in Berry burst (which isn't purple like the name suggests) about 6 months ago after wandering around my local Boots looking for a lip colour which was slightly darker than my own natural lips which are a pinky beige. There are currently around 10 different shades in this collection so there's definitely something for everyone and I have found that you can create different intensities by layering up the tint as one layer is quite natural looking whereas 3 layers is quite intense and good for an evening look. The tint comes in a erm.....marker which is the most accurate description I can give but even though this may sound strange it actually works very well and dispenses the stain evenly and is quite precise in it's application. The stain set me back £7 and although that sounds alot to some people i was so impressed with the product that I went out and purchased another a couple of months later in red passion which is a lovely orange based red which works well with warm/neutral skin toned folks and can be applied for a natural look or layered up for a femme fatale look.
***Was it any good?***
With both the Berry Burst and the Red Passion lip stain you can vary the look by using either one layer or multiple layers for a more intense shade. I tend to only need the one coat and find that this lasts a good 5 hours before needing to be reapplied and as an avid tea/coffee drinker this is not bad at all as my lipsticks always tend to disappear after 1-2 hours. I have noticed in other reviews that people have complained about this product being quite drying on the lips but I can honestly say that I have not had an issues with dryness but then again I do apply moisturiser on my lips overnight as a habit.
The lip tint application is very precise and provided you have clean lips there is no patchiness and another bonus of this product is that you do not have to use a lip liner as the product doesn't feather around your lips and dries quickly leaving a lovely matt tint behind. The tint does have a slight scent which is quite fruity but thankfully this dissipates minutes after application so won't clash with your fragrance which was something I was initially concerned about.
***Would I recommend?***
Definitely and I would like to purchase some of the other shades as the product does last and having used the Berry Blast on an almost daily basis it has lasted a good 6 months and is only now nearing it's end as it dries up. Admittedly looking at other reviewers opinions there seems to be an overall negative response to this product by those with dry lips but then again it's a stain and therefore water-based and therefore not a good idea for dry lipped people who would probably be better off with a creamy lipstick or balmy lip tint instead.
Summary: A wonderful stain which give a long lasting tint to the lips
