Advantages: Incredible staying power! Great colours
Disadvantages: Hard to get off, unless you use oil-based makeup remover (which is good I suppose)
Welcome to Infinite Lips! This product comes in two parts: the “Paint for Lips” (the lipstick), and the “Moisturising Top Coat” (the transparent lip balm type stuff you put on to make the lipstick look glossy). The Application: You apply the lip paint, with a foam wand, rather like the one used for Rouge Pulp. You have to be very careful putting the wand back into the lipstick, as the testers I’ve seen in shops have been absolutely smeared with the stuff. You don’t even need to apply *that* much, just an even coat, but make sure it goes everywhere you want it at the time of application, because once it’s dried – that’s it! It is very difficult to budge, unless you opt for taking it off, and starting again. Next, leave it for approximately a minute, and when dry, you can either leave it as it is, as a matt finish, (you don’t *have* to use the top coat, it’s only there to make your lipstick look like normal lipstick, with a glossy sheen) or you can apply the top coat. After you have finished all the applications, you can basically forget about having to reapply the lipstick for the rest of the day. It is supposed to be semi-permanent, and it sure is that! Try removing it with traditional methods i.e. Spiting on a hankie, and trying to wipe it off – it won’t budge, or getting some water, or normal make-up remover – it’s still there! The only way you can really remove it is to use an oil-based make up remover, or baby oil, or Vaseline. I found that once I had wiped off the topcoat, if I put a coat of my palm oil lip balm over the top, it would wipe right off. I assume this is because of the oil content of the lip balm. The packaging is very attractive, and I would expect nothing less having paid £8 for the product. The two products come in a gold coloured box to keep them together, and there is an instruction leaflet inside, to
give you directions on how to apply (basically echoing what’s on the side of the box though!) The colours available at present include: The pinkys: 10 Whisper, 20 Angelic, 30 Cool, 40 Vivacious, 50 Coy The purply darker ones: 60 Sassy, 70 Spicy, 80 Desire, 90 Majestic, 100 Wicked The redy ones: 110 Passionate, 120 Hot, 130 Luscious, 140 Charming The browny tinged ones: 150 Bare, 160 Iced, 170 Delicious, 180 Spiritual, 190 Indulgent, 200 Caffeinated. I bought Iced 160, which is a kind of nude colour, as that seems to be the main colour I wear these days, and I’m *really* lazy about re-applying lipsticks, I just can’t be bothered. This saves me the bother; I’d call it a lipstick for lazybones. I feel a bit sorry for all those women who were on the Sally Jesse show the other week, who had had their makeup tattooed on, now this product has come out (can’t believe I watched that!) It’s like removable tattooed makeup, and *slightly* cheaper and less painful too! Lipfinity contains “Permatone”, which is a new development in semi-permanent makeup colour. There is a leaflet available in stores which explains a little of what this is. It allows you to do activity you would normally do whilst wearing lippy, without having to re-apply all the time – drinking tea, kissing (I have yet to do the snog-test!), you can touch your lips and it won’t come off, it doesn’t flake, you can eat your dinner and it’s still there, and pretty much anything else. Yesterday I went in the shower wearing it and it stayed on! Water is no match for it’s evil staying power! Warning! Don’t allow the paint for lips to come into contact with clothes etc… until it has completely dried. It doesn’t take long to dry anyway, and after it has, you can do whatever you like! You can re-apply the topcoat as often as you want, and even if the shine wear
s off, the lipstick won’t. The one thing I did notice though, was, towards the end of the day, if you have opted for the matt look, the lipstick does tend to have settled into the lines on your lips a little, but it’s still there all right! Everyone seems to have gone for “Spicy”, but I think I’m going to go for a light pinky like “Angelic”, or a darker purply like “Wicked”. Actually, I’ll probably go for the dark purple, as that’s one of the main reasons I don’t wear normal dark lipsticks as much as I’d like to – they fade and wear off so quickly, and I’m left with a vague suggestion of mauve! Plus, the boyf tends to snog it all off in no time ;-) You can also check out the website below, where you can get tips on makeup application in general, and see for yourself the colours available for this product. There is also a handy advice section for this lipstick, whereby you match your skin tone e.g. “Pale”, and it suggests the colours you should consider choosing, you even get a picture of a model with your skin type, so that you can see what the various colours look like on her. http://www.lipfinity.com/ Usually £9.99, but currently £2.00 off at Superdrug and Boots, that I know of (at time of writing). I have noticed, however, that testers only seem to be available in branches of Boots. Superdrug only have colour charts. Has anyone else found this? Finale: Amazing staying power, very nice colours, matt or glossy the choice is yours, if only all make up had the staying power of this!

- 17/07/02 I am definitely going to try this now - you have sold it to me! A very informative review on a product I've always wondered about. |

- 11/01/01 Excellent, well written review. In answer to your enquiry about the snog test, I can confirm that following a FULL pash sesh the lip colour was completely intact (although the rest of my make up had gone!) Max Factor - permatone foundation please! |

- 06/11/00 I don't know whether to try this or not. I keep my lipp yon by the usual base/blot/liner/lippy/blo t/reapply and it stays on all day, with perhaps a refresh after a hot drink, and so far good old Rimmel does a great job, but Boots will see me tomorrow and I'll have an investigate. Very informative for a lippy fan like me. |
