Truly a masterpiece (Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara)

Advantages: Lenghtens, Seperates and adds volume to give bold, beautiful lashes.

Disadvantages: Irritates my eyes upon application and in my opinion, not really suitable for daytime wear.

Never having tried a max factor product, I decided to try this product after hearing good things about it, and after the first application I was decidedly impressed. I chose the mascara in 'rich black' which is a lovely, intense coulour, perfect for wearing at night. The packaging is a long tube in matte gold with shiny gold edging giving the mascara a glamorous and sophisticated appearance. With the brush having long bristles at one end that taper off to reveal smaller bristles at the other, each lash can be coated, including the ones towards the edges of the eyes that are often hard to coat with conventional brushes. This is definitely an advantage as it gives a more even finish and allows eyes to appear more open and thus bigger. Upon applying the mascara, I found my lashes were separated, lengthened and volumised. However, due to this added volume along with the intensity of the colour, I would not wear this during the daytime and therefore I think this mascara would be more suited for people who want dramatic lashes at night rather than for a daytime look. The only major disadvantage about this product in my opinion is that the bristles did irritate my eyelids by pulling on them when I tried to apply this mascara, and as this has never occured when using other mascaras, I think the arrangement of bristles on the brush may be causing this effect. Alternatively however, as I have not had this mascara for very long, it may be that my technique in applying the mascara with this type of brush is wrong and this may be causing the irritation. Overall, as long as the brush doesn't irritate your eyelinds, I think this is a wonderful mascara that does what it claims and leaves you with bold, beautiful eyelashes perfect for a night out.
