Advantages: Conceals effortlessly, Brightens dull undereye skin, Long wearing.
Disadvantages: Not much product, Only three shades, Included applicator isn't too useful.
I wasn't really looking for a new concealer as I am very happy with my current ones (Benefit Boi-Ing and MAC Select primarily) but a recent promotion in Boots meant that if I purchased two Max Factor products instead of one I got five pounds worth of points back on my Advantage card so I decided to take advantage and try something new. I'm glad I did as it's one of the best concealers I have tried!
Max Factors "Mastertouch" concealer is supposedly used backstage and by professional makeup artists and for once I might acually believe that claim!
It promises to make precise coverage a breeze using the 'special skin smoothing applicator' whilst the 'light diffusing creamy formula' claims to give you professional results.
It is available in three shades: 303 Ivory, 306 Fair and 309 Beige. I wish there were more shades but at least I found a perfect match (beleive me, this very rarely happens!) It retails for £6.99 I believe which is a pretty average price lately.
It is packaged in a small pen / wand, which you twist the base to release product out of. Initially you have to twist lots of times before any concealer comes out which can be a little off-putting, but eventually some is released.
The applicator is a small, firm, slanted sponge tip with a hole in the centre. I personally find it way too hard to be of any use, as moving this around your undereye would only result in streaks, but don't let that put you off as using a brush or even your fingertips gives amazing results.
I transfer a small amount of "Mastertouch" concealer onto my ring finger before gently tapping it under my eyes, all the way from the inner corner to about 3/4's of the way out. Then I use a fluffy, domed brush (I use MAC #224) to blend and buff the product into the skin using quick, circular motions. This product blends effortlessly!
After only a few seconds of blending it has dissolved into the skin taking your dark circles with it! It looks very natural and radiant, but with absolutely no sparkles / shimmer particles at all. I set with a very light powder and it's done :-)
It also lasts incredibly well throughout the day, without caking or settling into skins texture or fine lines. With some other concealers I find that after a while, the lower 'portion' of my dark circle (where it meets the upper cheek) becomes visible again, defeating the whole purpose but this one does not budge!
The only downside to this product is the amount they give you. I seem to be going through it quite quickly, but I will wait and see (and update) how long it lasts me. It's worth it though.
Overall, this product definately rivals my high end concealers for less than half the price. Infact I applied this under one eye and my MAC Select under the other and I saw no difference at all. I wish the shade range was more impressive, but if you can find a match I definately recommend you try it out.
Summary: A+ product from Max Factor.
