I normally use Max Factor products for their reasonable prices and high quality look. I particularly like their mascara and wouldn't change to any other. Therefore when I received a Max Factor trio eye shadow for Christmas I was quite excited to try it out.
The eyeshadow is good value for money retailing in most stores at around £4.50. It is a fairly cheap buy seeing as you get three eyeshadow colours for the price of one, a lighter colour, a blending medium colour and a dark one. The packaging is plain and simple, and very compact, although a little annoying as there is no mirror. But nonetheless it would fit easily into a handbag or makeup bag.
When applying the shadows it was handy and easy to have all three colours in the one place at the same time without having to swap compacts or pots around. However, application was difficult and took a long time. Very little colour comes off onto the brush, and there is very little pigment in them. It took at least five layers to get any sort of visible result, and even more to get an impacting result. I even tried wetting the eyeshadow as it is apparently usable wet or dry, however this had little effect.
Eventually the eyeshadow was visible on my eyelids but did not give off even half of the colour I had hoped for. It was ok for toned down day time, however I would not use this product for night time wear. It also wore off pretty quickly.
Overall I will not be buying this product again and definitely will be going back to my other eyeshadows.
Max Factor Max Effect Trio
On facebook there was this advert for max factor and it was a competition where you have to match pairs, and I got this eyeshadow trio for 'winning'. You did not know what make up product you got until it arrived and I was surprised (in a good way) when this arrived in the post!
*About the product*
It comes in many different shades, but the one that I have is the coco crazy one. Which is the same as the one pictured above. It is a new product by maxfactor and it can be used wet or dry.
*My opinion of the product*
Firstly I really love the packaging, it does not look cheap like a lot of other make up products. It has a see though clear lid that allows you to see the product really clearly - showing exactly what the shades look like.
This coco crazy one is really really nice, I love the shades as they are the shades that I wear most of the time if I am not wearing liquid eyeliner. They are not really pigmented, they are quite subtle and shimmery - which I like you can wear them everyday as they are not strong. But they can be built up and they can be used wet or dry.
There are obviously three shades and the first one is a very shimmery light beige colour, the second is the darkest which is a gorgeous metallic chocolate colour with gold shimmer in it and the last one is a grey/brown colour and they all work really well together.
I like to use the light beige color at the beginning as a all over base colour and then I like to put the darkest colour (middle) in a V shape at the outer corner and then blend inwards to create a slight metallic brown smoky eye.
I got this as I 'won' one of their competitions, so I did not buy it but it can be bought from boots for £6.49 which is quite a lot but it is for three eyeshadows and they are really nice too.
*Nice sleek packaging - thin too so it is great for traveling or just to put in your handbag
*Easy to apply and easy to blend
*good price for three eyeshadows
*Really nice colour and looks that can be created
*Max factor is owned by proctor and gamble (which I think is a UK company) which DO test on animals, so I would not buy any of their product because of this (but other opinions may differ)
In my opinion make up/cosmetic product and other such items should not be tested on animals so I do not buy anything from max factor (I only found out about the animal testing claims after using the product). And it is a shame that they use such methods as the product is good but because of the testing of their products on animals I can't give it a good rating.
