Advantages: Easy to apply and looks great
Disadvantages: The tube is a little too soft
Note that this is a review about Max Factor Silk Gloss Tube, not the regular Max Factor Silk Gloss seen in the picture. The main difference, however, is the packaging.
I was out travelling recently and naturally took the opportunity to do some airport shopping. In one of the shops I saw something I had never seen in the UK – Max Factor Silk Gloss Tube. I’ve used the regular Silk Gloss before, but never the tube kind. Obviously I had to buy it because I’m on constant lookout for the perfect lip gloss; gloss that stays on and isn’t too sticky.
This is a gloss that won’t give you lots of colour. In fact, the slogan for this product is “Don't Go Bare – Go Better! Silk Gloss for nude lips.” Still you can choose between a selection of tints and I decided to get the Blush Wine kind.
Moving on, the tube, which contains 13 ml, is made out of very soft plastic so it is easy to squeeze the gloss out. The tube is partly white and partly clear so you can easily see the very sparkly lip gloss inside. If you remove the cap you can see that the application area is at a 45 degree angle which makes perfect sense as you normally don't hold the tube straight when applying gloss. This way you don't have to hold your hand at a weird angle in order to get full contact between the application area and your lips. Since the plastic is, as I’ve already said, very soft you have to be a bit careful so you don't get too much gloss on your lips. I made the mistake of squeezing too hard once but now that I’m more careful it works perfectly well.
After having used this gloss on a regular basis for a while I must say that it’s probably one of the better ones out there. When on the lips it actually feels more like lip balm than gloss, still it looks very sparkly and glam. It is not sticky at all and it stays on about one to two hours depending on what you’re doing. I cannot honestly see the slightest difference in colour, but then again I’m not big on using colour so it suits me perfectly.
The gloss has a very pleasant smell, like a mix between coffee and chocolate. Unfortunately it doesn’t taste of anything…
Since I didn’t buy it in the UK I'm not sure of the price, but the regular Max Factor Silk Gloss costs around £7, so I assume that this one would be about the same.

The Boring stuff:
If you happen to be allergic to any of these chemicals you probably want to avoid this product…
Polybutene, petrolatum, paraffinum liquidum (I guess that’s liquid paraffin in Latin), candelilla cera, tocopheryl acetate, mica, oleyl alcohol, aroma, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), aloe barbadensis leaf extract, propylparaben, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, methylparaben, limonene and citral. Sounds yummy if you ask me.
Summary: Great lip gloss
