As skin starts to age it seems harder to be able to find a foundation cream that suits it and consequently I have ended up with a few rejects that have been thrown to the back of my drawer, never to see the light of day again.
Earlier in the year when we had a few sunny days ( yes, lol there were a few!) I bought a Miss Sporty cream foundation in Superdrug. I am no Miss Sporty but the cream was very light and translucent and it performed well in the warm weather.
Blink your eyes and the sun was gone and I needed to rethink the foundation cream situation.
I use a foundation cream every day, so it is essential that I find one that suits my skin, I have tried pan sticks, solid foundations, creams and mousses but I am a demon for experimenting.

The Max Factor Silk Perfection Liquid to Powder make up comes in a natty little black plastic compact which just slides open and shut easily. The oblong shaped compact has a good clear mirror under the lid and the lower section has two compartments, one holds the block of make up and the other holds the thin sponge applicator.
Max Factor have given this product a long and drawn out title which in my opinion could easily be misunderstood. Liquid to powder ? If you knew very little about make up you may well be confused by that statement.

The Max Factor Silk Perfection comes in eight different shades which include natural honey, pale porcelain, light champagne, true beige, fair ivory,cream beige, rich beige and cool bronze.
The Silk Perfection liquid to powder is 100 % oil free and it has no fragrance.

I ended up buying the shade called Natural Honey, I have a fair complexion and I cannot wear anything dark. When you are in the chemist and you try the testers you are immediately at a disadvantage, the artificial lighting plays havoc with the true colours.

Max Factor have produced a neat slimline compact which takes up virtually no room at all in any make up bag, plus the compact looks expensive and elegant.
When I took a good look at the block of make up that sits in the compact I thought that it looked a bit on the small side but most skin foundation creams tend to go a very long way.
Max Factor Silk Perfection is quite a clever idea, you take the small white sponge and gently rub it over the block of make up. Then you start to apply it to your pre-moisturised skin.
The block of make up is not as solid as it looks and it is easy to load onto the sponge and simple to apply to the skin. The make up glides over the skin and then starts to dry out to a few seconds later but it only lightly dries to leave a good finish.
The Silk Perfection is very light and natural and it would be fine for everyday or evening use.
The make up gives good coverage but you must be sure to take extra care when you apply it to the areas where possible creasing could appear.

The Max Factor Silk Perfection covers small blemishes but I still think that you would need to use a concealer over anything more than a light skin imperfection.
The end result is fine, I found that the Silk Perfection was easy to deal with.
The small sponge applicator does get clogged up with the make up and it needs to be rinsed out frequently but apart from that there is nothing else to worry about.

There are many of these cream to powder foundations on the market, some are very expensive and others like this Max Factor Silk Perfection are more affordable at around £5 a time.
The make up can be removed easily, I just washed mine away with soap and water.
If you are hunting for a decent cream to powder foundation that has a natural finish and lasts well then it would be well worth giving this one a go.
