Max Factor All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation
by beautyaddict101
I'm ALWAYS searching for the perfect foundation and have wasted so much money in my quest to find one, a lot of them have ended up in the bin and sadly this was one of them. When this foundation came out I couldn't wait to try it! The massive claims of being a 3 in 1 primer, foundation and concealer with the promise of a flawless finish ... totally sold it to me but unfortunately it was a disappointment.
Max Factor is a high-street/drug store brand which is available in Boots, Superdrug and some supermarkets. I haven't tried a massive amount of there products to be honest so can't comment on there overall quality.
THE CLAIMS:
--------------------
* Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 foundation holds like a primer, corrects like a concealer with the long lasting finish of a liquid foundation with SPF 20.
* Lasts all day, giving a flawless finish
* Primer gives a smooth base for hold
* Concealer corrects for a flawless look
MY EXPERIENCE:
----------------------------
When I went to purchase the foundation I did notice there wasn't a very wide range of shades available. I managed to find a good match in the shade 'Bronze' however I wouldn't say my skintone is 'bronze' at all. I can imagine that if you are particularly fair or dark-skinned you would struggle to find a good match.
I applied the foundation and the first thing I noticed was how quick is was drying. I didn't get much time to blend it before it dried to a matte finish. I put this down to the fact it was foundation and concealer in one and initially thought this may be a good thing and might of meant the foundation was going to remain matte throughout the day and may actually last until I got home from work. Sadly I was wrong, although the coverage was good and it looked great when I left the house as the day went on it became patchy looking which was awful. I tried if for a couple more days but then had a massive breakout. I think this was because I wasn't using my primer as you supposedly didn't need to with this product. This was the end for me. I struggle to keep my skin blemish-free as it is so I gave up and binned it.
HOW TO APPLY:
--------------------------
* Match the foundation with the skin tone of your jawline to find the right shade for you.
* Always apply in good natural light to ensure even coverage.
* Put a small amount on the back of your hand, then coat both sides of a foundation brush.
* Apply small amounts in the centre of your face and blend outwards where needed.
SHADES AVAILABLE:
---------------------------------
There are 6 shades available in the range which isn't many at all, as I mentioned before I think a lot of people would struggle to find a good match.
PACKAGING:
-------------------
One thing I was impressed with was the packaging, it was a glass bottle with a gold and black pump and a clear top. The packaging looked and felt high-quality and I love foundations with a pump.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
--------------------------------
The price is £11.99 which is quite a lot of a high street foundation and considering I had to throw mine away I wouldn't say it's great value for money.
CONCLUSION:
---------------------
Obviously I wasn't impressed and won't be repurchasing! The search for the perfect foundation goes on! Read the complete review |

On the front of the bottle, in gold writing, is 'Maxfactor Glossfinity' and 'glossy nails for up to 7 days'. The bottle is transparent so you can see how much nail varnish is left in the bottle. And the packaging looks simple and sophisticated.
**** Price and Availability ****
I purchased this nail varnish from Boots for £5.99. I bought this as part of an offer, if you spend over £15.00 you get a Maxfactor goodie bag worth over £35.00. Included in the goodie bag was a travel sized mascara, travel size nail varnish (coral), mini eye shadow (champagne) and a lip gloss. This was fantastic value for money.
You can also purchase this from Superdrug and most supermarkets which sell make-up/cosmetics.
**** My Thoughts****
I have been having a lot of trouble recently finding a nail varnish that lives up to their claims. Especially ones that claim to last a long time on my nails. I thought I would give this Maxfactor varnish a go, simply because it was on an offer (shallow, I know! I like something for nothing, what can I say?). The shade I purchased was 70 Cute Coral. It is a very subtle pinky/orangey colour, which is not too loud. I also purchased the top coat, as I thought this make the colour last longer on my nails.
Applying the nail varnish is very easy compared to other nail varnishes I have used. The lid fits comfortably in my hand, I use three brush strokes per nail and find it very easy to maneuver , so that it doesn't run over the edge of my nail and onto the skin. The brush is just the right size to fit on my nail and holds just the right amount of nail varnish.
You do really need to apply two or three coats of this nail varnish to get a good solid colour. This is not too much of a problem as the varnish does dry incredibly quickly. I would probably say it is one of the fastest drying nail varnish I have ever used. After applying two coats I then finished with the top coat. The colour is very glossy, even before applying the top coat.
Now the all important question... Durability! I have had the same nail varnish on for 6 days and it is still presentable. It is not entirely chip-free, but it certainly still looks wearable. I am extremely impressed with this nail varnish, I think Maxfactor hasn't gone over the top with claims, unlike some brands (i.e. Rimmel 60 seconds).
**** Would I recommend?****
Yes! I would definitely recommend this nail varnish. The colours are beautiful and extremely glossy. It lasts for a long time on the nails and is very easy to apply. The only problem with this nail varnish is that you need to apply two or three coats, and for someone in a rush this can be time consuming. Overall I would definitely buy this nail varnish again, and I am very impressed. I am going to give this nail varnish 4 out of 5 dooyoo stars. I am dropping one star purely because the amount of coats this nail varnish requires.

Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara
by Helrobs
I have been wearing mascara for many a year now and have always stuck to black. I have known other colours were available but to me black was best. I have often used Max Factor mascara as I feel that it coats my lashes well. As I have long eyelashes already I don't really want products that make them longer, I just look for a product ... with good coverage. However, when I first heard about this product I was intrigued. Max Factor have developed a range of mascaras which are eye brightening and tonal; the idea being differnet tones suit different eye colours more.
The Product:
This mascara comes in a mainly white bottle with a black screw top lid. There is a label on the outside of the lid which has a drawn eye on it and a colour on top. THe one I use is for brown eyes but it is available for blue and green eyes too. See, before, I always thought very black mascara was the best way forward for me. But, it turns out I was wrong. The black inside this bottle is not as harsh as many of the mascaras I have used before. I genuinely think it suits my eyes brilliantly. It is a little bit lighter than other black mascaras, but still covers brilliantly. Whilst I think you can tell I am wearing mascara when I wear it I feel much more natural. My eyes look brilliantly framed in a natural way. It is the best mascara I have ever found for day time makeup.
I wear this mascara every day (sometimes switching to a more glam one for night time use) and I really do love it. It has never flaked or run and it stays put all day long.
The Verdict:
So, if you are looking for a mascara which lengthens, thickens and curls your eye lashes then this isn't for you. If you are looking for one which will suit your eye colour brilliantly and offer great coverage without flaking then this is highly recommended! For a natural day time look I would give it 5 out of 5. Read the complete review |
