I popped into Superdrug a few days ago as I had some Love 2 Shop Vouchers from my Christmas Savings and I knew I needed some new lipgloss and mascara as both were almost finished and as it was my birthday and had a few nights out planned I decided to go and treat myself! There was an offer on everything in the makeup section as 3 for 2 I happily chose three items to go in my basket and this was one of them! - Packaging - It comes in a very sleek glass tube which is transparent to see the lipgloss inside. I bought no.60 Stellar Berry which is quite a deep pinkish/ruby shade and through the tube it has like a mild metallic shiny streak flowing through it which makes it look really glamorous, glittery and. It has a lovely silver lid which inside is attached a nice decent spongey wand as an applicator. It is in the shape of a rectangular prism and looks slightly more elegant than my round lip glosses in the past as it has "Maybelline New York" and the name imprinted across which looks very snazzy indeed! - Application - Applying the lip gloss is easy, when removing the wand out of the tube it has a mechanism around the rim (similar to mascara) of the tube to remove any excess gloss off the wand so only the amount what is needed on the lips can be applied. I find it glides on really easily and one coat on the bottom lip and then smacking my lips together is an ample amount to cover my lips effectively. - Results - I absolutely love this gloss as it is really thick and just a simple swipe across my bottom lip and pucker my lips together and it gives fantastic coverage all over. The consistency of the gloss is really good quality, excellent colour which is rich and looks almost as good as a lipstick only slightly more slick and glimmery and gives my lips a beautiful boost. It has fantastic longevity as I went out 2 nights in a row with it on and it absolutely stayed put all night! I have run out of any makeup remover, so even waking up in the morning it was still there in all its glory! The gloss is a bit sticky, but not the stickiest I have had as I find my previous Avon lipgloss far stickier. It's reasonably thick, but that is why I find only 1 coat sufficient to do a brilliant job. - Overall - I absolutely love this gloss from Maybelline and it is one of the best I have had by far and I have received tons of compliments on it! The colour looks great, and it lasts hours without need for re-application. It is a bit on the pricey side costing £6.19 but I think it is actually well worth the money and I totally recommend it!
Colour Sensational Creamy Lip gloss is a range of lip glosses by Maybelline. There are 12 different colours in the range: Pink Perfection, Raspberry Sorbet, Sugared Honey, Hooked On Pink, Touch of Toffee, Born with It, Plum-tastic, Sandstone Shimmer, Broadway Bronze, Mocha Glaze, Cranberry Cocktail and Wine All Mine. The tube, which holds the lip gloss, is rectangular and made from plastic. It holds 6.8ml of lip gloss. The lid is a screw top and is silver in colour. Once you unscrew the lid you can see that the applicator is attached. The end of the applicator is padded and also slanted. This makes it very easy to apply, as it glides on smoothly. I purchased my lip gloss, Pink Perfection, from Boots for £6.19. You can also purchase it at most high street shops and chemists. I thought that this was a reasonable price for a lip gloss, as I do not tend to use lip gloss on a daily basis which means a it can sometimes last me for up to a year. The only time I really use lip gloss is if I am going out for a night on the tiles. The reason for this as I find most lip glosses come off easily leaving my lips feeling very sticky. Now I must say this is one of the only lip glosses I have used which I don't find very sticky and this is a real plus for me. The title of the lip gloss says that it is a 'cream gloss', and I find it really creamy and smooth. The consistency of the gloss is quite thick which gives it the creamy effect, this means that you do not need to apply much to the lips. I usually have to reinsert the applicator twice to get enough gloss on my lips. The colour I use, as stated above, gives off a shiny, shimmery look. From the outside of the tube I was expecting the colour to be a lot more 'pinkier' than it was when applied to the lips, but I did still like the colour. There is a lovely strawberry bubblegum smell from this lip gloss and it is quite tempting to lick. Unfortunately it does not taste as good as it smells, although it doesn't really taste of anything. Now for the all important question... Staying power! Unfortunately I did not find this lip gloss very durable. I found that on a night out I would be reapplying this lip gloss at least every hour. I normally drink my drinks through a straw, so there was no real reason why this lip gloss should come off so easily. Once the gloss comes off it leaves a slight shimmery residue. Compared to other lip glosses, which can leave you lips looking stained, I didn't think this looked too bad. Overall not a bad lip gloss but definitely not sensational. I would possible buy this lip gloss again as it comes in a wide range of different colours and it is also not too sticky (nothing worse than getting your hair stuck to you lip gloss). The only real down side is the amount of times you need to reapply. I give this product 3 out of 5.
If I could only use one type of make-up for the rest of my life it would have to be lip gloss. I have bad skin but I would learn to deal with it but there is no way I could ever dream of giving up my glosses and balms as I am obsessed with them and I have the feeling of my lips being even slightly dry. My favourite gloss of all time is Lancolme Juicy Tubes but as these are expensive I save them for special and use cheaper glosses the rest of the time. Luckily there are loads of decent lip glosses on the market for me to choose from. Maybelline do a few good ones but my favourite of theirs has to be the colour sensational shine which really is excellent for the price. It costs £4.49 in Boots so isn't expensive and is at that price range where I feel I can treat myself to a new one whenever I want as it is so inexpensive. The colour sensational gloss comes in a squeezy tube and is available in a few colours. According to the boots website there are only three colours to choose from but I am positive that I have bought more than this over the years. The colours do all tend to fall in to the pinks and purple categories though. I like the squeezy tube as although it doesn't have the same sort of accuracy as a wand would have it is easy to apply whenever I want i.e in traffic lights, walking along the street etc. and it is easy enough to wipe any excess off with my fingers that get on my skin around my lips and you don't even need a mirror for this as it is easy to feel when it has gone over my lips. The gloss feels really nice on my lips and is thick but not so gloopy that it feels horrible. It is sticky but then all lip glosses are and if you don't like the feeling then you should be going for a lipstick instead. The colour is nice and it does have an incredible shine. The only slight problem with it is that it isn't the longest lasting of glosses but then again to find one that lasts a decent amount of time is a challenge. It lasts a good couple of hours before I need to reapply but this can be extended if you aren't drinking/smoking/touching or basically using your mouth for anything other than talking. If this cost a fortune then I might be more annoyed by the fact it doesn't last longer but for under £5 I think both the colour, shine and the feel of the gloss is great and a couple of hours is fine at this price and because the squeezy tube is so easy to use I don't mind having to reapply more often than I would ideally like.
Not sure why but I've always preferred a good lip gloss to lipstick. Not so long ago I had a Boots voucher which allowed me to buy a Maybelline product with a fiver off if my memory serves me correctly. I'm pretty loyal to other make up brands but figured this was a pretty good offer and I would be foolish not to use it. After dismissing many of the products, I settled on a pretty pink lip gloss and paid about £1.50 (ish) for it. This lip gloss does a better job at moisturising my lips than any lip balm I have ever bought. As soon as you open the lid you are hit with a great, sweet fruity scent. I'm not constantly reapplying and it's lasted on my lips for a good few hours before needing a new coat. It's also lasted a long time with regular use - the pink I picked is quite understated and is perfect for everyday wear. A little internet surfing tells me the current price in Boots is £6.19 and I would happily pay that for this lip gloss.
The gloss comes in 12 different shades from pinky colours to purple and violet tones. There is 6.8ml worth of lip gloss and it currently costs £6.19 in Boots. It is quite shimmery but not overly so. For afar it just looks shiny and does not look too pigmented. I was looking for a dark berry coloured lip product and I thought a lip gloss will be a nice alternative to a lip stick and will soften the look a little bit. Maybelline says it's their creamiest gloss yet. It is indeed very creamy and thick which I love. In general I don't like lip glosses, I don't use them, I don't buy them. However, this lip gloss is different. It isn't sticky or clammy which for me is the worst thing in a lip gloss. The creamy texture also means great colour payoff. All of the shades in this range are intense and rich. I have the Stellar Berry shade which is a plum/berry colour. The product is very easy to apply and it's so smooth you don't need to put a lot on. When you unscrew the cap, it slides itself up in a seamless quick motion which is pretty nice. The lip gloss does not last a very long time, about 4 hours. While the colour stays, as the gloss stains your lips, the creamy shiny texture goes away after a few hours. You will need to re-apply if you're planning on wearing it all day but it's not a big problem and the colour stays in act which is a good thing. The not so good news is that when the gloss fades you're left with stained lips - which can look good, but the shimmer is also there which means it is very obvious you're lip gloss has faded and you didn't just apply a lip stick or a lip tint. The gloss does not rub off when you're eating or drinking even though it will stain glasses and it will transfer on food. The colour doesn't fade though and the only thing that takes off the glossy texture is time, really. If you have dry lips, this is a good buy. The creamy texture will hydrate your lips without it feeling slimy or soggy. If you're going for the darker plum shades, I would strongly suggest using a lip liner beforehand as the strong colours will stand out and you don't want it to smudge or look messy. An advantage of darker shades is that your teeth will look whiter. Darker shades are sure to make a statement but the range of colours and shades means it will suit any skin tone. For around £6 it is quite an expensive lip gloss but it's worth investing in something you will be satisfied with. This is a perfect product to use if you want to give lip glosses a go but were not a big fan of them in the past. The texture and the colours will make it more comfortable for you to get used to and it is a superb transition from lip stick to lip gloss. I recommend the Stellar Berry colour - you can make a statement without going out of your comfort zone.
My brother gave me this as an early birthday present today (my birthday is on the 31st July) and I was pleasantly surprised, as I was planning to buy it at a later date but now I've got it for free! The shade I was given was Fabulous Pink, a medium pearlscent pink. ~Packaging and Appearance~ Maybelline Color Sensational Lipgloss comes in a long plastic transparent tube, so you can see what colour the gloss is inside. 'Maybelline' and 'Color Sensational Gloss' are written in silver on the tube. A sponge-tipped applicator is attached to the silver lid, and quite a good amount of lipgloss comes out on the applicator. All the colours in the range (there are 12 of them) are pearlescent and have sheen and they range from pretty pale pinks to nude beiges to soft corals and one or two rich plums. I am a little disappointed that they don't do a clear lipgloss! ~Product~ When I applied the lipgloss the smell of oranges came apparent - it was the lipgloss! I simply loved the scent and was extremly tempted to eat it! But I'm not that stupid. Anyway, the lipgloss was easy to apply and non-sticky. However, it doesn't live up to its claims - it doesn't give colour, but it gives a nice sheen and very subtle colour, and this little untrue claim isn't enough to make me deduct a star from its rating! I wasn't really bothered about this, as I don't really expect colour from lipgloss, as most are transparent or translucent! The lipgloss lasted a good 3-4 hours too and my hair didn't stick to it either! Re-apply isn't a problem as it is quite small and easily portable. ~Value~ Maybelline Color Sensational Lipgloss is £5.99 from most shops, which is maybe a tiny bit on the expensive side but this lipgloss is definitely worth buying as it is so lovely.
