Advantages: Lasts a long time, defines lashes, good special offer price

Disadvantages: Doesn't add any more volume than other mascara out there

Maybe I am a sceptic, a cynic when it comes to makeup and the entire advertising campaign surrounding new products, I tend to look upon them with such disdain. After all, it even states on adverts that there has been post-processing (hello Photoshop!) and lash inserts have been used so you never really know what you're going to end up with.

However, I kept seeing this advertised and the more I saw it, I more interested I got. The deal was done when I was it on special offer in Boots for £4.84.

Collossal is not an adjective I would use to describe this mascara.

It only comes in black which is not an issue. I love dramatic, wide-eyes so black is really the only option. And it is VERY black.

On the advert and the Maybelline website, it brags about 'up to 7x the Volume'. Okay so this mascara did give me a lot of volume and definitely made my eyes look a lot bigger but it was not any different to the effects that other mascara's have given me. I was expecting highly OTT eyes and, maybe it is due to my own high expectations, it fell short of what I expected.

However, I did like the brush a lot. I've never used the larger mascara brushes before so this was an entirely new experience. While there have been some criticism about it, it definitely helped to pack the colour onto my eyes, seperate the lashes and define them.

It is a good mascara, there is no denying this fact. It has incredible longevity and is also waterproof but Maybelline have bragged a little too much about the effects. For the price it is on during this special offer period I would purchase it but when it gets to the ordinary price, I'll buy something else.

Summary: Buy it while its cheap but not afterwards
