The product I am reviewing is a lipstick by Maybelline. The lipstick is part of the Colour Sensational range. This range of lipsticks has a wide range of crisp colours that are created by Maybelline's Pigment Technology. They have a lovely, creamy feel and are enriched with honey nectar. There are a total of 24 different shades in this range which means you can find the perfect colour that will suit you. I have to admit that I'm not a huge lipstick wearer and only tend to wear lipstick for special occasions when going to a party or having a night out on the town. I have a lot of occasions coming up such as birthday parties, hen night and a wedding so I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out some new lipstick. The previous brand of lipstick is quite cheap and although it looks nice it doesn't really last very long which means I have to keep re-applying throughout the night. I chose a lighter colour from this range as I like subtle lipstick which gives my lips a slight hint of colour. I also prefer the look of pearlescent colours rather than just matt looking colours. Although a lot of the colours in this range are quite bright I managed to find some more subtle one's instead. The lipstick comes in square packaging and on the bottom you can see the number and the name of the shade. For example 605 'Precious Beige' The bottom of the packaging which holds the lipstick is a silver colour and this is the part you twist to push the actual lipstick up to use. The lipstick lid is made from strong plastic and is a light pink colour. As the lid to the lipstick clicks on I would feel confident that the lid wouldn't come off when carrying this in my hand bag or small make-up bag.

I purchased the lipstick from my local Boots store. Each lipstick was £7.19 but they currently have 3 for 2 on Maybelline products so I purchased an eye-shadow set as well. You can also purchase this from Superdrug and possibly some supermarkets; how-ever prices may vary. This range of colours is mainly made up of pinks and purple tones, some of which are quite bright and others which are more subtle and gentler looking on the lips. Although there were a few colours in this range that I liked the 'Precious Beige', was the colour I purchased as this would go well with my eye-make up that I was planning on wearing.

I was using brown eye-shadow on my eyes to create a slightly Smokey look so this lipstick would go really well with it. Although the coloured dot on the bottom of the lipstick looks like a dark pink colour the actual colour of the lipstick is a pearlescent beige colour which has a very light copper colour to it. This would go perfect with my brown set of eye-shadows. I applied all of my make-up and then applied the lipstick to my lips. I found that the lipstick was really easy to apply and glided onto my lips really easily. The lipstick felt smooth and creamy as I applied it and there wasn't really any need to go over the lips again after applying it. Of course you could do this which would make the lipstick stand out a little more. The lipstick gave my lips a lovely colour which was quite natural. The colour complimented my face and make up and actually really suited me which I was pleased about. I normally apply some clear lip gloss over lipstick, how-ever with this I didn't really need to as it had a nice light shine to it as well. As this lipstick does look slightly pearlescent this probably helped to make it shine slightly more than some of the more matt colours would. I drank during the night as normal and did need to re-apply the lipstick once or twice during the night. I expected to do this anyway, as I would with most lipsticks. During the night the lipstick didn't dry out my lips or make them feel sore and my lips felt smooth and soft all night. The lip colour stayed looking great for the majority of the night, but did wear off a few times after drinking or course which is when I had to re-apply the lipstick again. My sister actually even borrowed the lipstick from me as she loved the colour. I don't normally share make up, especially lipsticks, how-ever as it's my sister I don't really mind.

As I have only ever purchased cheaper lipsticks before which have only cost me about £3.00, I did have high hopes of this lipstick and was hoping that it was going to be quite good. I was impressed by the huge range of colours in this range which meant there was a colour suitable for everyone or for any occasion. I couldn't have picked a better colour as the 'Precious Beige', was just the colour I was looking for. I found the lipstick easy to apply due to the creamy formula and I loved the looked of the lipstick on my lips, as it gave them a lovely pearlescent look to them which caught the light slightly. The best thing about the lipstick is that it didn't dry my lips out or leave any residue on them which I sometimes find with some other, cheaper lipsticks. Although I had to apply the lipstick again a few times during the night, I was impressed at how long it actually lasted as my previous lipstick used to wear off very quickly, especially after a few drinks. With this lipstick I was able to wear it a good few hours before having to re-apply it again. In terms of value I don't think the lipstick was badly priced as this is around the price I would expect to pay for a good, quality lipstick. I will definitely be looking at some of the other colours in this range to try out. Although this lipstick may not be as long lasting as some other, more expensive ones, I still think it's a great lipstick and one that I will continue using.

Recently picked one of these up as a impulse buy during a 3 for 2 offer. I needed a third thing and couldn't decide so quickly picked up this to get my moneys worth. Full price this is £7.19 which I think is reasonable for a product of this market.
Maybelline have a huge variety in this range making me very drawn to the product. So much so that I couldn't walk away without one. I bought one in the colour 'fuchsia flash' which was the brightest pink lipstick there. I am currently experimenting that's for sure!
The packaging is one of the highlights of this product. It is a transparent cranberry coloured lid which clicks into place to close. The part where the stick is held in a very pale gold case which gives it a classier look. The bottom sticker perfectly indicates the colour of the stick inside, and it has the name of the colour written on it. It really stands out from the other lipsticks I own, but despite the amazingly bright colour, it is one of my favourite lipsticks.
I will probably only wear the colour when I'm feeling brave as it is so bright and I am more of a dramatic eye kind of girl and I know you can only have bright lips or bright eyes! However I do love the colour. The lipstick is very well pigmented and it goes straight onto your lips without having to build the colour up. The lipstick adds a little bit of moisture. But I do feel after a while my lips do feel a bit drier. I tend to put a balm over the top because I prefer the feel of a glossy lip rather than a stick. However I was after colour this time so this was a must have. The colour I would say lasts around 2-3 hours before it faded into a lip tint type colour/effect which I thought was nice. It was noticeable that I still have a lipcolour on, except it wasn't as bright. Sometimes if i'm after a less dramatic look I will only lightly put this on and dab the excess on and it looks like a lip tint and that stays on quite well.
The only bad thing is is that it does highlight the cracks and crevasses on my lips, which sadly most do, I haven't found a lipstick which smooths them out as of yet! But due to the colour and the way it is very easy to put on I cannot complain about this lipstick!
I would recommend and I am definitely thinking about buying another colour when another offer comes around. If you're after a brilliant colour these are the ones you are after.

Maybelline describe the range to be of 'Crisp colour' that is created by their new 'Pigment technology', providing a creamy texture that is 'enriched with honey nectar'.
I personally really like the design of Maybelline Colour Sensation Lipsticks; each lipstick has a very handy and easy to use turning apparatus that along with the shape makes it look very sophisticated and modern. The lid of the lipstick has a nice transparent colour effect design to illustrate the exact colour of the inner lipstick, which I think is very attractive and useful when choosing the colour of lipstick without having to open the lip to find out the exact colour. I love the silver finish to the lipstick inner metal holdings, which has a nice shiny metallic sparkle that makes it look great and a lot more expensive than it is.
The Pink Pearl colour is quite a noticeable powerful colour, and after applying it on my lips I could instantly see the strong radiating colour, giving that nice classic chic finish effect. The added ingredient of honey nectar is a welcoming change and enabled the lipstick to have a smooth effect on the skin. I personally can get dry lips, so using a lipstick that has an ingredient for aiding healthy skin is always a plus.
When applying the lipstick it was very smoothly glided across my lips, and had a nice creamy texture to it giving it a nice glossy finish. I personally think that one coat is more than enough of this colour, as just one layer was enough to give off a strong vibrant finish, which is great as it meant I wouldn't have to spend time reapplying layers and saving money in the process.
I found the lipstick colour to quite long lasting compared to other brands I have tried. I did not feel the need to reapply it during bathroom breaks when at parties or dinners, which was great. The colour kept its shine and boldness for a good few hours, and in my opinion really illustrates the high quality of the product. It is easy enough to remove when needed, but may need a few wipes to get it off.
Overall I was very pleasantly surprised with this range from Maybelline, they have so many shades and colours to choose from that you can easily find the colour you are looking for. I found the colour to be long lasting and the overall quality and design of the lipsticks to be of a very high standard, this along with the price makes this a very affordable way of looking beautiful.
I don't really like how bright lipstick looks on me as I don't think it suits me but my lips look too plain without any colour at all. I wear coloured lip glosses for this purpose but every now and again I try a subtle lipstick and this is why I bought a lipstick from the Maybelline Colour Sensational range.
What does the product do?
The product promises to give the lips a splash of colour as well as conditioning them with the addition of honey nectar. There are more than 20 shades to choose from in this range but I chose one from the Pearl collection because these are more neutral shades which have names such as Delicate Pearl and Rosewood Pearl. I chose the one called Kiss Pearl which is a pretty pink colour. They all have shimmering colour which contains micronised pearls.
Packaging and Price
The lipstick looks nice and classy in its packaging. The actual tube is metallic and silver in colour and the lipstick has a lovely pinky lid which covers the whole lipstick once it is on. You twist the bottom of the tube in the usual way to move the lipstick up. Each lipstick will cost you around £7 and it can be bought from department stores such as Boots, large supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The first thing I noticed when removing the lid of this lipstick was the sweet smell which I assume comes from the honey and you can smell it a little bit on the lips after you apply the product. When you see the colour of the actual lipstick, it looks like it's going to leave a lot of colour on the lips which is exactly what I didn't want. When you apply the product to the lips however, the colour comes out sheer and you can still see your natural lip colour through the product but it now has a splash of pink and shimmer on them.
The product feels creamy and hydrating, and it can be applied without using a balm first. The lipstick glides across the lips and it doesn't pull or drag the delicate skin and because of the consistency and colour of the product, it doesn't highlight any dryness. It makes you lips look healthy, shiny and shimmery so it is right up my street. The shimmer is pretty and classy, and it isn't glittery in a school girl way. The lipstick lasts for a good few hours, even when eating and drinking but it is easy enough to reapply the product should you want to. My lips feels soft and hydrated once the product has been removed.
All in all, this lipstick suits me down to the ground. It only gives a splash of colour, a bit of shine and a dash of shimmer. It smells nice, hydrates the lips and has good staying power. If you want something with a lot of colour then the pearl range won't be for you but the others in the collection have a lot more colour so you could choose something from there. I am very pleased with this product and I would happily repurchase it.
I like make up products from Maybelline, since the brand offers good quality products for, OK, not the cheapest of prices, but I would call it reasonable at least. This is actually the first lipstick that I have tried made by Maybelline, since I have mainly opted for the eye make up and the facial items from their range. I was looking for a good lipstick to try out when I came across this Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick, and I decided that I ought to give it a go, since it looked like a pretty good product from Maybelline, and at any rate, I decided that I should give a Maybelline lipstick a go, in case I was missing out on something great.
From Boots, one lipstick set me back £7.19. I thought that this was an OK price to pay for a high street make up brand, not too expensive at least. Anyway, most decent lipsticks that I have tried have cost quite a bit of money, so i did not feel too guilty about buying it at least. So, this can seem a little bit pricey when you compare it against the £1 MUA lipsticks from Superdrug, but when it comes to lipsticks I do feel more at liberty to spend a tad more. I am usually quite picky about the quality of the things that get smeared on my lips especially since they can be so easily ingested, and I felt that the price I paid would be worth it if it was a very good quality lipstick.
The lipstick base is square with a label indicating what shade of lipstick it is on the bottom, though the tube itself is, thankfully, round. The tube contains the lipstick, and it is very easy to roll this up and roll this down as you would with an ordinary lipstick. This part of the packaging is silver coloured and it looks like it is made out of metal from a distance, but when you feel it, it is evident that it is made out of plastic; this is just as well, since it makes it more lightweight to handle. I think that the lid colour depends on the colour of the lipstick, though I am not too sure. Mine is a plastic lid that comes in quite a deedark red; you can see the tube inside. It is a long lid as it reaches down all the way to the base, and it is cubic inshape. This helps to protect the lipstick from damage and dirt, and is easily removed and replaced. This is the kind of design that I would normally expect to find tacky but, surprisingly, it is not. There is nothing spectacularly sophisticated or beautiful about the design, but it has its own kind of strange elegance.
This lipstick is quite easy to apply; the sharp, slanted tip does help this quite a bit. It has a smooth, rather creamy texture to it that feels good when you are applying it. It is not too sticky, which is good, but feels quite nice on your lips. Though I did not find this too moisturising for me, it is not drying either.
The colour of the lipstick is the most important aspect of it; you may have picked up that fact from the product name. I chose the shade of Fatal Red (530), and I can say that it is, really, fatally red.It must be the purest red lip colour I own, and it looks very dramatic when applied; great for making maximum impact. Of course, this is not a more natural looking colour that I would opt for on a daily basis, but I do adore the colour I chose since it looks great(and also very red) on my lips. The quality of the colour is quite sensational; it gives even coverage and the colour really stands out. I will take this opportunity to add that this is in fact a matte lipstick, unlike some of the more shimmery lipsticks of which I own. I like this, since, even though I do like a shimmery lipstick on some days, it is nice having a matte one too. Anyway, a light coat of lip gloss over this can help to give it a glossy look. The colour stays on for a few hours but if you want it looking perfect through a longevent you may have to reapply once or twice. The longevity is not bad, but it is not absolutely superb, either.
Overall, I think that this is a nice lipstick with a nice colour and an OK price that I do not mind paying. The longevity is qite good for a lipstick in this price range. The only thing stopping me from awarding this lipstick full marks is the fact that for the price, you could still get better lipsticks, as I have done before. I would recommend this lipstick, but I would also recommend for you to shop around a buit before making a decision. There are better products on the market, and therefore I would give this product 4 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
I love lipsticks and love buying loads of different colours to match with my different outfits. I decided to try out Maybelline's Colour Sensation PopSticks lipsticks because I had a few friends who recommended it to me and I am really glad I did because it is now one of my favourite lipsticks.
This lipstick is really nice to apply, it goes on evenly and makes my lips feel lovely and conditioned when I have applied it. The texture of this lipstick is really nice and velvety and it feels really nice on my lips.
I really like how these lipsticks come out on my lips, the colours are really vibrant and looks amazing. This lipstick looks quite glossy and has a nice shine to it when it is applied.
The only thing that is disappointing about this lipstick is that it doesn't last long enough, when I am wearing it, I like to keep it in my handbag so I can top it up throughout the day and usually find that after lunch time that I need to re-apply it.
You can buy this lipstick in quite a good variety of shades, including pinks, reds. The range of colours is really lovely and I especially like the different pink and red shades. Here is a little list of the colours available in this range:
Pink Lollypop *my favourite shade so far.
You can buy this lipstick range from most Maybelline providers, I buy mine in Superdrug for around £7, though they are often on offer within the make-up range on 3 for 2 deals. I think that this is a good price for these lipsticks as I have owned mine for months and use it quite regularly and it still isn't even half used yet and also because they are such good quality.
Overall I think that this is a great lipstick, it is one of my favourite to buy as the colours are so nice and it leaves my lips feel lovely and moisturised. I only wish it would last longer when it has been applied. Overall I would give this lipstick 4 out of 5 stars. I would definitely recommend it and will be buying it again myself.

For some type now I have been searching for cheaper equivalents to that of MAC lipsticks, whilst still having all the qualities of that make up. Having tried many brands I decided to look at the Maybelline brand, mainly because I have used a few items of theirs in the past and find the brand to be quite good considering the price. There were quite a few ranges of lipsticks to choose from, hoever I decided upon the Colour Sensational Lipstick as I thought this would give a more intense (perhaps longer lasting) colour.
~~Price and Availability~~
These lipsticks are priced at £7.19, so although they are not the cheapest, they are around half the price of some of the leading brands. I do find the brand Maybelline to be on offer a lot in Boots, so they often can be picked up cheaper and currently they are on an offer of buy one get one half price, which is across the whole Maybelline brand.
Maybelline is a brand that is now being stocked in alot of places. Apart from the obvious places such as Superdrug and Boots, the brand is also sold in a lot of larger Supermarkets, such as Tesco. I have also seen these lipsticks sell for considerably less than the RRP on eBay too.
~~What is it?~~
This is one type from there Lipstick brand. The colour Sensational lipsticks are meant to give the lips a more intense colour, due to more pigmentation; alongside this the colour is meant to last longer on the lips.
The packaging for these lipsticks is really delicate looking and is quite pretty considering the price. It has an almost see through lid in which the colour of the lid reflects the colour of the lipstick. For example, a red lipstick would have a red lid and a pink lipstick would have a pink lid. These coloured lids are contrasted with a silver base and overall this gives a fairly sophisticated and pretty look.
I was really pleasantly surprised with the colour choice available; there were over 20 shades all of which seemed to be quite different. There were light pinks to bright pinks, browns, reds and corals. The only colour that I felt was really lacking was pale nudes, as although they had many nude-browns I felt they only had one colour that I would perhaps class a nude. Nonetheless, I was after a pink colour so this didn't really affect me and in the end I decided upon the colour 'Sweet Pink'; a baby, slightly shimmery pink colour.
~~Applying the Lipstick~~
The lipstick comes in the normal bullet shape form and can either be applied using a lip brush or straight from the bullet. I chose to apply this lipstick straight from the bullet as it was quite a pale colour so if I did happen to make mistakes they would not be as easily visible than if it were a red colour. I was really surprised to see how smoothly the lipstick went along my lips and in some ways it even felt a little moisturising. It did not feel heavy on the lips, yet it did feel slightly thick and you could definitely tell that there was something there, I also found it had a slightly weird texture to it. Although it was very smooth and soft to apply, it felt ever so slightly gritty/ bobbly and although the texture wasn't unpleasant I did find it slightly odd.
The bullet of the lipstick was quite rounded, which I thought may have made the lipstick harder to apply around the cupids bow area; however it kept to the lines of my lips well. I felt I could easily apply this lipstick straight from the bullet and would not need a lip brush in order to apply the lipstick.
~~ The colour/ Finish of Lipstick/ Results~~
The colour of the lipstick that I had chosen was really nice; I had been after a baby pink for ages, though being pale I was worried this may wash me out. I was pleasantly surprised that it did not at all wash me out and instead made the colour in my cheeks stand out a little more. There was a pink shade lighter than this, though I was glad I did not opt for that one as I think the colour 'Sweet Pink' is the palest pink I would go before it looking like concealer on the lips. Though it was a very pale colour, it was infact very pigmented and therefore the colour was very intense, as the name suggested. The colour was a very soft pink, yet did not at all look like Barbie lips, or a candyfloss colour and instead looked very delicate.
The finish of this lipstick had a very slight shimmer to it and an almost glaze finish. Although it did not have a gloss finish as such to it, it did have a creamy kind of glaze to it, which I think was mainly due to the slight shimmer in the lipstick. The shimmer was not at all obvious or stand-out-ish, which is what I think made the pink colour look more pretty and delicate.
I was very pleased with the results of this lipstick, it made my lips look and feel very soft and although the colour was very delicate, it remained intense. I would not say that this lipstick made my lips look fuller in anyway and neither did it really define them as such due to it being such a pale colour, it did however give them a burst of colour which made them standout. I think had I chosen a more vibrant or darker colour such as that of a bright pink or red, then the colour would have defined my lips more, as it were I was not too bothered as I was after a more natural pink lip look.
~~How long did the lipstick last once applied?~~
As for the colour lasting longer on the lips, I am not too sure. I do not believe that it lasted any longer on the lips than any other lipsticks have done and think it lasted a pretty average time of 3 or so hours on the lips. The thing that I really liked about this lipstick is that it did not feel uncomfortable or drying on the lips and instead felt creamy and moisturising, hence making it lovely to wear during this time.
-Cheapish to buy
-Wide Choise of Colours
-Feels creamy (almost moisturising) on lips
-Lovely soft shimmer glaze
-Delicate and pretty colour
-Lasted an average amount of time on lips
-Does not define lips
-Does not last on lips quite as long as I had wanted
In conclusion I was pleasantly surprised with my purchase from Maybelline as I have found them a bit of a hit and miss brand. This is definitely one of their better products as although it does not last quite as long as I would have liked it to on the lips, it does feel lovely and moisturising when on the lips and the colour was really beautiful. I would have liked the colour range to consist of some more pale nude colours, other than that I was very happy with the choice available and am more than happy to spend £7 on these.
maybelline Color Sensational
For me Maybelline products can be hit or miss. I have found that some of their products are very good value for money and work exceptionally well, whereas others are just average and before you know it are discontinued.
I was on the hunt for a very specific nude pink lipstick. I am the kind of shopper that really knows what they want and if I can, I do a little research beforehand. You would think nude being such a big trend within fashion and make up that there would be more choice within nude lipsticks! By the way this event occurred 10 months ago and I am not sure as to how much selection there is in the 'nude lipstick' area. So I was really limited to what brands I could use, as a lot of brands did not have the specific nude I had in mind. Maybelline wasn't my first choice and is one that I rarely consider. But they did have a very nice nude pink lipstick called 'velvet beige.' It's a good thing that make up stands have testers, as I was able to test the product on the back of my hand. I liked the colour and seeing as it was the closest to what I was looking for; I bit the bullet and bought it.
******Price and Packaging******
The lipstick is attractive to look at and is rectangular shaped. It comprises of a rectangular burgundy coloured lid (which is an odd choice, but doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.) The actual lipstick component is silver. The packaging is quite minimalistic, but I think it looks very sleek and stylish.
The lipstick costs £7.19 and comes in a wide range of colours, so you will find a colour to suit you.
The Maybelline colour sensation lipstick provides crisp colour due to their pigment technology. It has a creamy feel, enriched with honey nectar. The lipstick has a 24 month life, which seems a little long as most lipsticks I have used tend to go off after 6 months.
On first applying the lipstick is definitely creamy and glides on easily. The colour pigmentation is also very good. In fact this lipstick is very similar to a yves saint Laurent lipstick I own and this is a very good contender at a much cheaper price. The lipstick lasts a few hours, but transfers very easily. If I touch my lip I immediately get a stain on my finger. I guess this is due to it's creamy nature. A lot of lipsticks can be drying, but this lipstick provides great moisturisation and lips look healthy and plump.
The colour 'velevt beige' is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. It is a really flattering colour and is wearable for everyday use. I have also bought Pink Brown from the same range. Pink Brown is also amazing and is slightly more pinker than 'velvet beige', for days when I want to turn it up a notch.
I really like this lipstick and the colour choices available means that I will probably explore more colours in future. I would definitely recommend this lipstick to others. I have dry lips and it works extremely well for me, so it will work wonders on everybody else. I have has this lipstick for 10 months now and it lost a little bit of it magic a few months ago. I guess it's time to change it and it has lost its freshness. It's a shame that the lipstick isn't long lasting or transfer proof, otherwise it would be a five star rating.
I recently dyed my hair red, and my former red lipstick was a different shade, so my hair and lipstick clashed!
I love statement lips though, so decided to pop to Superdrug and test out a load of different red colours that would go with my hair, the only colour that matched it was a red one in the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick range and it matches perfectly! I was also quite surprised by the price of this product, I thought that most Maybelline products were pretty expensive, but this was actually really reasonably priced, I think it was about £6.99.
The colour is really vibrant, and for me, once its applied, it stays on for about 2- 3 hours, which I think is pretty good! The texture is really smooth also, its not at all sticky, and it feels really light weight. It also doesn't smudge at all, when it does come off it just fades away, so you don't get it smudged all over your face, which is always good!
I like a little bit of lippy from time to time or on special occasions. I realised the other week that I hadn't got any so I popped into Boots to get a new one.
I am a big fan of the Maybelline products, I use their liquid foundations and the mousse colour eye creams, but was yet to try a lippy from them
There were lots of colour choices in store in the Moisture drench lipsticks, ranging from pink to brown and everything in between. I opted for the 'rich plum' colour, number 315. It's a dark red/pink colour and i thought it was nice.
This lipstick goes onto your lips nicely and sits smoothly on your lips. It isn't too thick or goopy and doesn't make my lips stick together when I close my mouth, which I have experienced before now! The colour is really nice on your lips and has a bit of a shimmer too, so it makes your lips look a little glossy which is nice.
The lipstick comes in a square shaped lid which you remove and the lipstick is just a standard cylinder shape where you turn the bottom of it to bring the lipstick up. On the bottom of the lipstick tube is the number and the colour so you can easily buy the same colour again if you like it. It's pretty basic which I like really because it makes it quick and easy to use.
The lipstick was easy to apply, looked and felt good and had an OK lasting time as well. I'm terrible for licking my lips, even when I've got lipstick on, so it's probably my own fault that this didn't stay on me for that long, but even with drinking and lip-licking, it stayed on for a few hours, so I think its a good idea to keep this lipstick with you to re-apply if you're going to wear it all day.
These lipsticks are £7.19 in Boots which I think is a fair price to pay. It's a nice lipstick overall from a reputable cosmetic brand. I'd recommend it to others.
In a woman's life there are different periods affecting her outlook, style and mood... A couple of years ago I couldn't imagine myself wearing pearl necklace or red lipstick. I thought they didn't fit me yet, maybe later. Now I wear both and I feel confident about them.
In the last couple of years I wore exclusively Max Factor Lipfinity lipstick as I am really satisfied with it. The other day I took the kids to the Tesco and I saw Maybelline's Color Sensational lipstick. It was love for the first sight. It looks very nice and after trying the tester I dropped one into my basket. This lipstick is available at chemists too, wherever you see Maybelline products. In Tesco it was for 6.99 pounds which I think is quite good value for it.
As this lipstick is made by Maybelline I was sure that it is of good quality. It comes in the usual lipstick format; the only difference is the stylish transparent red cap. I bought Fatal Red shade which is a brilliant red shade. It is red like fresh blood, I love it. When even my husband realised that I wear a lipstick I was sure that it is a noticeable stuff. My kids noticed too but they notice every little change I make on myself.
Even a lipstick can have some features:
crispy colour - the new pigment technology used by Maybelline makes the colour of this lipstick deep and really sensational. After applying the lipstick my lips seem optically fuller. It is just a simple lipstick, not a lip plumper.
creamy feel on lips - the manufacturer says that it is enriched with honey which is well known for its pampering effects in skincare
easy to apply
available in 37 colours - however the Tesco I was shopping had only 2-3 shades at better places you can find the whole range. The main colour categories are: pink, plum, red, nudes and pearl.
As I used Lipfinity for years I am used to it that my lipstick is kissproof and lasts and lasts... These characteristics unfortunately are not true for the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick. The colour is really sensational but you can't kiss someone without a nice lipstick print so be careful! Apart from this it stays quite long on the lips but I have to re-apply after eating or drinking hot drinks. I guess the wear off is not that harsh in case of pink, nude or pearl shades but the red lipsticks have to be perfect on lips otherwise they look really poor and cheap.
How to make your lipstick last longer? If you use a creamy lipstick like this one apply the lipstick as you usually do, then cover it with a layer of loose powder. I apply it with a soft puff. Then apply the second layer of lipstick. It lasts even longer if you apply it with a lipstick brush.
I can't give five stars for this lipstick as it is not long lasting and leaves prints on my glasses and cups. I haven't tested it under so many circumstances as the Lipfinity but I wore it several times and I think it is a really good lipstick.
In a couple of days you can get used to it that it leaves prints. The bright colour is so sensational that I can forgive the weaknesses for this lipstick. The Fatal Red (530) is such a nice shade I would have felt a fatal error not buying this.
I think that from the 37 shades Maybelline offers now you can surely find a shade that fits you most. It doesn't dry out the lips as the long lasting lipsticks do but have to be re-applied during the day. It has a very nice scent but no taste at all.
Despite the honey content I wouldn't say it is moisturizing, it left my lips about the same as they were before applying the lipstick. It is easy to remove it with any kind of makeup remover or kissing someone all over...
I have just been bought this lipstick a couple of days ago and I knew I had to come on and do a write up on it! The colour I have is 605 Precious Beige.
Now, I was on the Boots website, to look at the other colours they have. But when I looked at the colour I have it looked like a very dark brown. I was surprised because the actual colour is a light beige. So I would say to have a look in a shop at the colour, just in case!
I don't usually wear dark reds and pinks, so most of my lipsticks are beige's and natural colours. What I like most about this lipstick is that it has a simmer to the colour. The texture of this lipstick is really, because it does have a little bit of shimmer in it, you may not expect it to go on smooth on your lips. I have tried other lipsticks that have shimmer or glitter in it and the texture of them is horrible, but I am pleased to say that this lipstick has a brilliant texture.
The style of the lipstick tube is something I really like. The actual base of the lipstick is a silver colour and the lid, a dark, see-through colour. I have to say that this lipstick tube isn't as exciting as some others, not to be too cheesy, but it is what's inside that counts!
This lipstick does have a good lasting time, but compared to others it isn't the best. So you may need to keep this lipstick handy for re-applications, to keep those lips sensational!
So would I recommend this ??? Yes I would. I really love this lipstick and I would defiantly go and buy some of the different colours Maybelline have (they do have 36 to choose from in this range!)
This lipstick can be found in Boots for £6.99 and I can't seem to find it anywhere else for cheaper. I do find that is is a slightly more expensive lipstick, compared to ones like Miss Sporty. But if you are having a make-up splurge, then this is one to buy, (or may'be two?)
Maybelline colour sensational lipstick - shade 132 Sweet Pink
I really like lipstick, especially recently, but this lipstick has been sitting in my make up draw for about a year or longer being neglected and I rediscovered it about a week or so ago and I now realize why I had left it at the back of my make up draw!
About the product and packaging
The packaging features a dark pink lid and a silver case which is normal for a lot of lipsticks. The lid pulls off and clicks back on normally and the packaging feels like it is fairly well made and durable. Some of the ingredients of the lipstick are as follows: Honey, Beeswax, lanolin, perfume/fragrance and oxides. There is a sticker on the bottom of the lipstick with states the name of the shade of the lipstick and it has a coloured representation of the lipstick shade which is a lot darker than the actual lipstick is.
Scent and texture of the lipstick
The lipstick has a nice scent, in my opinion, it has a sweet vanilla scent which I really like but I think some people will not - it would probably be better for everyone (especially those with sensitive skin) to have an unscented lipstick. The lipstick does have a lot of glitter/shimmer in it so I thought that it would make the lipstick rough and have a not very nice texture but the texture of this lipstick is: very creamy, smooth and really nice on my lips - which is not what I expect with the high glittery content of this shade.
The shade of this lipstick is 132 sweet pink and on the bottom of the lipstick the sticker is shows that the lipstick is darker than it actually is - I would not have bought this lipstick if the shade on the bottom of the tube was accurate as I hate light coloured lipsticks - and shimmery/glittery lipsticks. The shade is a light/medium pink in the tube and it looks wearable in the tube but on my dark pink pigmented lips the shade comes out very light - like a light barbie pink! I hate the shade and it really does not suit my pale skin and dark hair at all in my opinion. This shade does have a lot of fine shimmer which are all different colours from silver to pink to blue/green.
Application and results
The really smooth, creamy texture of this lipstick makes it so incredibly easy to apply, it applies so well straight from the tube which I have not found with a lot of other lipsticks! The application of this lipstick is great if you apply it straight from the tube, using your finger tips, using a lip brush or using a cotton bud. I prefer to use this lipstick directly from the tube/bullet as it is quicker and easier than the other methods and then I can just blend the edges out really quickly using my finger. Overall, the application is so quick and easy, which is a little bit surprising as I thought that the large amount of fine shimmer in this shade would make it difficult to apply, but it applies like a dream!
The results of this lipstick leaves my lips looking awful, unfortunately as the application is great! This shade makes my lips look horrible, the lipstick looks very unnatural on my as the shade is so light and also because of the large amount of shimmer. The lipstick also looks really cakey, heavy and obvious on my lips - a look that I hate. I would only wear this lipstick in public ever if I was going to a 80's party or a halloween party! It makes my lips look dead - with shimmer!
I bought this lipstick from boots about a year ago and it is now priced at £7.19, which is a little bit expensive and in my opinion this lipstick is not worth the money, the only good thing about the lipstick is the creamy texture of the lipstick and the application, which if I am honest is just fantastic!
*Application of this lipstick is super quick and easy due to the gorgeous smooth, intensely creamy texture of the product
*Moisturising on my lips
*Nice packaging - although the colour representation on the bottom of the tube is not too accurate
*The scent of the product is nice, like vanilla, although the product is tasteless
*So much shimmer, it looks shimmery in the tube but it is extremely shimmery on my lips which makes my lips look so unnatural
*It makes my lips look dead because of the light shade and also it makes my lips look really cakey and it is obvious that I am wearing lipstick - even if I only use a small amount
*Feels heavy and gunky on my lips
One star for the cream texture of the lipstick and application and one star for the scent and the moisturisng effect on my lips: 2/5
Thank you for reading my review
I found one of these lipsticks in the bottom of my make-up bag, and remembered I had bought it a few weeks ago. It was in the Rose Pearl shade, a pearlescent nude peachy colour.
~Packaging and Appearance~
Maybelline Color Sensation lipsticks come in a tube with a cuboid-shaped lid that covers most of the tube. There are five different colour families - Reds, Pinks, Nudes, Plums and Pearls. There are on average six different lipstick shade per family, although others may have less or more. My Rose Pearl shade comes from the Pearl family. The lid of the lipstick is coloured to match the family it belongs to - Nudes will have a brown lid, Reds will have a red lid, Plums will have a purple lid, Pinks will have a pink lid and Pearls will have pale pink lid. To get the lipstick, just rotate the bottom. The lipstick will have minute glitter flecks in it if it's from the Pearl family - if not, then it will be matte, however a few lipsticks from other families do also have glitter flecks in them, for example Ambre Rose from the Pink family does. The lipstick also has a lovely scent, although the smell has a shocking similarity to PlayDough - only more pleasant and sweeter, so don't worry!
This lipstick is probably the smoothest I've ever tried! It gave my lips a loveky sheen, alothough it didn't colour them in the peach of the lipstick, which was just what I wanted. Darker shades, like the Plums, Reds, and some of the Pinks, will show up on your lips but lippies from the Pearl family just give lips a nice sheen. The lipstick lasts all day - unless you drink a lot, like me, in which case you may need to re-apply it every so often. However, you only need a little bit, and there is quite a lot of lipstick in each tube, so it will last for a good few months.
Maybelline Color Sensation lipstick cost £6.99 from most places. However, this lipstick is definetely worth forking out for as it is so nice and would make the perfect birthday present or a special treat for a loved one or friend.
I love these lipsticks! rightly or wrongly, for a while now lipstick has been seen as old fashioned, dry product, in boring colours. Not any more! These lipsticks look like they belong on your dressing table, the packaging is transparent and gem-like. There are four different groups. Nudes, Reds, Pinks, and Plums. Each of these 'families' has a large variety of shades, some sheer, some matte, some with a hint of sparkle. And all of them taste and smell like some kind of pudding...
I usually only go for nudes, with being more of a gloss girl, but this range enticed me to try a few pinks... In short, the shades are really soft, not in your face and brash, like you might expect.
The quality too is amazing, they are specially formulated to give you soft lips, and I found this was true, even if i had slightly dry lips before applying. The colour lasted a fair while before I needed to reapply it, and even once I had taken it off, my lips still felt soft and cared for.
If you are going to try out this range, I would recommend you try a colour that you would usually shy away from. You may be surprised!
