Looking at the tiny size of this tube, it's hard to imagine how it's lasted me so long. I've had it for a few years now, and while I don't wear make up particularly often, I often reach for this when I do want to bling myself up a bit. I have the Nougat Glace shade, which I think is the one pictured above- a bronzey golden colour which you can see through the clear plastic tube (the reason I can see that I've still got a fair bit left!).
The 7.5ml tube comes with a pointy screw cap, covering the nozzle which you squeeze the eye cream out of. The thinness of the nozzle means that the cream comes out very slowly, which is great as you only need a tiny dab of this to cover each eyelid.
I use my finger to apply this, as I find it easy to control. A small blob on my fingertip glides smoothly onto my eyelids and provides even coverage. One coat is enough to give your eyelids a noticeably golden shimmer, great for enhancing your look while still being fairly subtle. But if you want a bolder effect, a second coat will give you a real metallic look that stands out.
I absolutely love the rich, vibrant colour of this- it goes with practically anything, and the its metallic sheen really brightens and emphasies your eyes. The cream itself is really quick and easy to apply, and gives a much more even, glossy effect than eyeshadow. It dries almost immediately upon application, and once on, stays put and doesn't lose its shine.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be widely available any more, but there are a few websites selling it for around £2- well worth it, in my opinion, particularly as the tube has lasted me so long. 5 stars, as I genuinely can't find any faults with it.
When it comes to moist/wet eye-shadows I've never really been a fan of them to be totally honest with you. I think as I've got older I've just felt that they show up imperfections alot easier really and I've steered well clear of them lol. I find them tricky to apply and to not get resting in lines and wrinkles and if I achieve that then I get creases and stuff going on so I stopped using them, vowing not to bother again!
However I recently came into contact with a swap site online and put loads of my clothes on there to swap. I didn't want any more clothes and decided the swaps I was interested in was cosmetics and perfumes and the likes, new of course.
Well to cut a long story short a girl on there liked one of my skirts and I checked her stuff out and she had lots of new make up bundles and I worked out that my skirt costing about a fiver in a sale was now worth about 100 pound of L'oreal and Maybelline make-up to her cos she couldn't wait to close the swap with me! I was delighted that she got what she wanted and I got myself some new stuff to try that I wouldn't normally go out and buy!
One of the products she sent was this and I got 2 colours of them. They usually retail at about £5.49 each and it wasn't a product I was at all familiar with till I got it though I have spotted it in Boots and Superdrug and places like that on my travels.
The eye colour comes in a clear plastic tube with dark blue writing on it and a screw on/off matching lid to the bottom of it concealing a small hole that's on the end of pointed tube effect for ease of application (straight onto the eye if desired). On the front of the tube I'm told it's Maybelline Cool Effect Cooling Eye Cream Eyecolour and then I'm told that in a different language. On the back of the tube other information given includes the size being stated which is 7.5ml, the colour is stated (in this case I have Pretty Cool, 22 and Iced Melon 04) and contact details for Maybelline are given. It's a small but effective tube of product and it's informative enough though I can't call it pretty or anything like that it's simply functional and robust more than anything else. I was concerned initially about the amount of product you get inside the tube but I shouldn't have been as a really tiny amount goes so very far!
How you apply this is entirely up to you. I find by dotting a little on my finger and directing it over my eye gently that it gives me the best results with it but you could of course use a small brush or just use it directly from the tube and apply this to the eye and then use your finger. It really is up to you!
So the eye colour..... Well it's a wet one. Not too runny but not dry or stiff and you dab it where you want it applied and work with it as fast as you can really. My colours are light, none fragrant and highly shimmery and as my eye skin is 35 years old I use this sparingly. I find with lighter colours anyway that they really do show up lines and wrinkles (as I stated earlier) and I'd rather not display those if possible and I don't want this stuff settling into where it shouldn't so I apply it as a really sheer veil and wash of colour. If your not bothered about that then feel free to add more and layer the colour up to your hearts content! It's easy to get the look your aiming for it and it goes on so evenly and dries in seconds.
I find this to be superb and I'll tell you for why! My cousin came to my family home for the day and I find her company...shall we say difficult? We get on but only cos I don't speak really lol. I wanted out the house after several hours in her company and if I'd of said I'm going to the pub or up to my mates she would have said that was inappropriate so I came up with a cunning plan. I put on my gym stuff and said I'm going to the gym! If she argued that I was thinking on my feet but she didn't and after my short and sweet announcement I legged it to the gym only to realise once I was there I still had a small of make up on my face, including this. Sure I rubbed off my lipstick but there wasn't a lot I could do to remove this as I had mascara on as well but I thought oh well it don't matter I'm only doing an hour on the exercise bike whilst reading a magazine.
This stuff shone bright, it didn't come off and even when I rubbed my eyes forgetting myself it still never transferred off! It looked as fresh when I removed it as it did when I had first applied it that morning, and I removed it late that night and with ease!
Not only can you use these as a single wash on your eyes you can of course use them in conjunction with other types and styles of eye make up if you wanna....it's all up to you!
I really do love these, and that's coming from someone who doesn't like fussy make up. I like the way it does give a nice cooling effect on the eye and seems to be kinder and far more gentle than conventional eye shadows (powder) and far longer lasting. Sure you do have to get the hang of applying these and to know how much to apply but my advice is to use a little colour and gently blend and build colour up rather than plopping loads on! I use this an awful lot now, it doesn't hurt my eyes or irritate them at all and all round it's just a really nice product to use! Recommended!
