I was bought the cool effect eye shadow pencil for christmas so I am not too sure on the price but I have read a couple of other reviews which put it around £3.
The product is from the maybelline range and is described as a cooling effect eye shadow / liner. The colour I was bought is called steely gaze which is dark matallic smokey grey colour and if you have read any other reviews I have written you will find that these types of colours are very popular with me. I also have the colour called snow bunny which is a shimmery white and I believe that there is quite a variety of colours so there should be something that will please most peoples tastes. It is available from most retailers stocking the Maybelline range.
The pencil is a silver colour with black writing and the end and push on lid is the colour of the eye shadow. The pencil is very soft so it is extremely easy to apply however the pencil is quite thick so it will be difficult to get fine lines.
As it is described as a cooling effect eye shadow you will be wondering if this actually works. when you first apply it yes, your eyes do feel a lot cooler but this sensation does not last for long. The pencil feels greasy to touch and slides on your eyelids a dream however, the cover is not very even but that is soon fixed by smudging it with your finger.
I found it didn't last that long for me but I think my eyelids tend to be quite greasy or moist not quite sure so a matt finish is better for me that is why I always find eye shadow to be the best option. I have read a few other reviews where they suggest that it lasted most of the day for them.
It isn't a product that I would buy myself but if you like pencil eye shadows then this will be a great choice as it comes in a good range of colours and is easy to apply. It is relatively cheap too.
This product is one that you should definitely buy, if you are thinking of it. It looks good, has variety and is good value. It comes in two different forms: liquid (in a tube) or solid (pencil stick). I have both, and personally prefer the pencil form as its easier to apply (less messy) with the same results. There are quite a number of colors to choose from, so there's basically something for everyone. I have 3 different colors: the champagne color (bronze), brown and blue. All the colors are not matte, they are shimmery. It depends on whether you're after a shimmery color. Shimmer can be young and sexy - if thats what you're looking for. Anyway, they all look very good and you sometimes get a cool sensation on your skin, after application. It is also a high quality product, and lasts a long time, without the hefty price tag. It's a very reasonable price which allows you to buy several colors, as opposed to buying just one color at Chanel or something. I personally like drug store brands like Maybelline for things like eye shadow, as nobody is going to know whether you're wearing Maybelline eyeshadow or Chanel. So overall, I would definitely reccommend this to anyone. Even if you don't like it, you won't feel bad as it doesn't cost much. And if you do like it, you can buy more, without blowing your budget!
I first tried this great eyeshadow a few months back when i was going out for the evening and i wanted a gold colour eyeshadow to match what i was wearing. The Maybelline Cool effect eyeshadow was the first one that caught my eye and i ended up buying the Nougat 05 colour which is very very gold! It comes in a small compact tube and contains 7.5 ml which is enough to last for absolutely ages. I have used it almost every day for nearly 3 months and i still have plenty left. This means i still have money for other things that i need! The packaging itself is small and sweet and can easily fit in a purse or a pocket so can be taken almost anywhere with you. When you first apply the cream it is very cooling and i found that it can tend to sting. The cool effect only lasts for a couple of minutes so this definitely isnt worth buying just for this one quality. The eyeshadow is more like a cream but is a lot easier to apply. It gently wipes over the eyelid coating it in a shiny gold layer that lasts all day, as long as you arent planning on getting wet at any point throughout the day. Unlike some eyeshadows, this cream does not crease and remains looking good no matter how many times you blink or touch your eyes. The product costs around £4 but is worth it as it doesnt need replacing as often as a regular eyeshadow. There is now a wider range of colours available including silver and lavender which are both sparkly and ideal for evenings out on the town! Idefinitely recommend this product to anyone that wants to look good and is into the glittery party look as i am!!! £4 isnt much at all when you think how long it lasts and how good it looks.
these have long been a favorite of mine. it takes very little, they can go on sheer or bright, depending on how much you layer.... some colors are shimmer, while others are not so much so.... they're just awesome to put it bluntly. i'll be honest now, i wish there was a bit more color selection, but that is my only gripe. these lil dudes are great, they last all day and no creasing. that's right. none! tho i must admit i've never really felt the "cooling" effect, but its not something you would ever miss anyways.
The tubes for this eyeshadow are too messy, as one squeeze can distribute too much product, and it is impossible to get the excess back inside. On application, the creme does not feel particularly cool as the name suggests, and creases within twenty minutes. Most of the product remains on your fingers as opposed to your eyelids, and, whilst being easy to blend, the resulting effect is either garishly ice-queen or disappointingly bland. If you have a lot of time in the mornings to spend on your eye make-up and you have practice with liquid make-up application, I would recommend this product. If not, I would recommend the Maybelline Pure Colour eye compacts, because they come in a range of gorgeous colours, are much easier to apply, and stay on all day.
Maybelline Cool Effects 'Cooling Cream Eyecolor' is an eyeshadow with a difference. There's no little pot... there's no applicator... just a dinky little squirty tube! The tubes themselves are tiny - probably only 4cm long, and they have a pointy, black plastic screw-top lid to them. They're made of clear plastic, which is certainly handy as it means you can immediately see the colour of the product through the packaging - no having to find a tester to see the colour, or guessing from the little sticker on the bottom of a pot. Cool Effects eyeshadows come in a range of eight different colours. * Cold as Ice * Cool Blues * Lilac Freeze * Pretty Cool * Gives Me The Chills * Nougat * Cool Cat * Sugar Plum Ice These cover a range of shades from almost white, to pale blue, to pink, lilac and neutral shades. Each colour has a shimmery effect to it, and all of them are fairly pale in colour. The light, shimmery effect makes them perfect to wear during the day or for going out. Applying the eyeshadow is a bit of an art in itself - you can soon get the hang of it, but at first it's difficult to judge the right quantity you'll need. As the product is in a squeezy tube you need to squirt a small amount of the product onto your finger (or an applicator if you really want to use one). Once you've got it on your finger (or applicator) it's just a case of sweeping your finger across your eyelid and gently blending it in to however you want it. An easy mistake to make is to squirt too much onto your finger then putting it onto your eyelid and having to spend the new few minutes trying to even out the splodge. From experience I've learnt it's better to start with a small amount and apply more as required. So - is it just a gimmick, or is eyeshadow in a tube really any good? For starters, this eyeshadow isn't just called 'Cool Effects' because of the shades
it comes in, it really does have a cooling effect. As you smooth it over your eyelid you can't help but notice the cool refreshing sensation. This is nice at any time of day and any time of year, but is particularly nice in the summer when your eyes are feeling hot and tired. Despite being a cream it's not at all greasy - if you rub a tiny amount between your fingers it feels almost powdery. The cream is apparantly made up of 50% water and Maybelline claim that once applied the eyeshadow lasts for up to eight hours. I can certainly back up this claim, as applying it in the morning before work it's still noticeable at the end of the day. However, towards the end of your eight hours worth of wear, although it doesn't look a mess, on close inspection you can certainly tell that you either need to touch it up or wash it off. This product doesn't claim to be waterproof, and it can be easily removed with a flannel, however, it does have some staying power in wet situations. I regularly go swimming, but the eyeshadow is still noticeable after my swim (although perhaps not so noticeable as when first applied). Maybelline offer a 'tip' on this product in that it can also be used to 'highlight cheeks or to create a shimmering effect on the lips'. They also recommend blending shades together to customise your colours (this does work!). Priced at approximately £3.29 for a 7.5ml tube this product is certainly value for money. The tubes last an amazingly long time as a little really does go a long way. Maybelline Cool Effects eyecolor is available from most Boots stores and other similar shops that stock Maybelline products.
I saw this product first on a magazine advert and it looked lovely but I do know with many make up brands that they tend to add a bit more than just their own products to get the look they say. It looks very shiny on the model in the advert and glitzy just how I love my eyes to look, to brighten them up a little. The day I saw this advert I rushed out to my nearest store which was Boots and looked at the prices they were £3.99 and lots of different shades obviously when started out there were very cool colours, cream, blues, greens and dark colours but now they have many amber like colours, they have golds which are lovely. The shade I ended up getting was number 16 which is the shade called Gives Me The Chills, all of them have great names. I paid the money and tried it on, the reason I bought this colour is because I don't have a silver shade of eyeshadow. I was qorried about putting this eyeshadow on as it is a cream type and I only use powder ones, so I squeezed a tiny bit out and put it on my eye, it did have a cool feelng when first applied but it soon went away. The colour was not very strong at first so I had to put more over to get a really silver look which could be seen which was annoying, it was only a 7.5ml bottle. The packaging is really nice it's a little tube with a nozzle at the end to squeeze it out, it's really mall and doesn't take up to much room. I was online from a website link on the maybelline website to buy the cool effect eye colour and noticed they were quite cheap in America and they had lots of shades I didn't buy any though because p&p is expensive from America. When I was in America last year I was in a shop and noticed the cool effect there it's different and I had to buy one there it cost about $2.90 and the shade I chose here was one I had seen on the website which I had wanted called 'Lilac Freeze'. There were lot to choose from but I only had en
ough for one, the tube is different here and you get 8g. The tube the time can stand up because the top is flat and this goes on just the same as the other but the packaging is good on both bottles. I really like this product it gives a nice shimmer to the eyes and it isn't too expensive.
I had not heard of this product before, and I got my tube free when buying a lipstick. Therefore, I had no preconceptions about how cool it would be! I was pleasantly surprised to find that unlike many other tube-type eye shadows it was not greasy when applied, although it did feel slick when first on, when it dried it became almost powder-like. This gives it an advantage over others because it means you can blend it in once it has dried, to give it the appearance of a powder. I also found it to be very long lasting, I chose the dark and vampish 19 sugar plum ice, and was able to achieve a dark and smokey look. However, I felt that there wasn't a large enough variety of colours available (although it could have been due to the size of the shop where I bought it!), especially as I don't tend to suit lighter colours that well. I did not really feel a cooling effect of it either, although I don't think that detracted from my enjoyment of the product otherwise!
These are cute little squeezy tubes of cream that claim to cool and soothe your eyes as you apply them. I chose a lovely sheer sparkly colour called 'Cold as ice' and it provides just enough coverage without looking havey, just enough sheen without looking odd and vaseline-like. You only need a teeny tiny dab of the stuff, so even though they are small tubes, it will last for absolutely ages. The cream did feel nice and cold when I applied it, but this feeling wore off very quickly - I think this is more about selling a gimmick than any lasting effects of soothing the eye area. Still, it did feel nice and tingly cold and it reminds you of playing with makeup products when you were little :-) The colour did wear off as the day went on, but I was still left with shimmery eyelids. I will definitely be going back to get some of the other colours in the range - they are just the thing for light, subtle summery makeup.
