Maybeline Define-a-Lash Mascara

After my recent disaster with a Boots No7 mascara I decided to revert back to the previously good mascara I had used and curse myself for not continuing to buy it and instead wasting £6 on a No7 one that is now in the bin when with that money I could have bought this one.

I am currently on my second one of these Maybeline Define-a-Lash mascaras and first time round I found it very good which is why I have purchased another one and am again finding using this current one very good also.

I usually stick with buying Brown/Black mascara and this time is no different. I find that if you use a brown/black one instead of just plain black the lashes tend to look a lot more realistic and natural.

I paid just around the seven-pound mark for this Mascara from Tesco and previously bought in when it was on special offer for around £5 in Boots. I think both of the prices I have paid are very reasonable compared to some mascara's that are on the market that can cost over double this price.

For your money you are getting a 6.5ml tube of mascara and I think this is a little below the usual size for mascaras as I have found most come in a 7ml tube. The mascara itself first comes on a cardboard backing with a plastic covering to hold it in place. This can be easily removed to leave you with the tube of mascara on its own. The tube comes in this wonderfully vibrant green colour that I find personally very eye catching and appealing. The tube is made of recyclable material if there are facilities (which I doubt) The Define-a-Lash name is in large white letters across the tube and the word DEFINE is in bolder print than the rest. Underneath is the sentence, which Maybeline has used to describe this particular mascara, and it says "Separated, sensuously long lashes, no clumps." Then apart from the address for Maybeline in New York and the statement that this mascara is made in France, there really is nothing more on the packaging of any significance.

The fact that there are no clumps when using this mascara I think is down to the fact of there being a built in clump eliminator. This is not something that you can see and sits inside the tube. It seems to really do its job though. The cap of the mascara is a screw one and this is easily removed to reveal the brush that is held inside. The brush has a nice long stem and the head of the brush is the same green as the outer packaging if you could see it under all the dark coloured product. The head is very flexible and at first I thought I might not get on with this mascara because of the head being so bendy and soft. But I have found no problem at all with this aspect. The brush is made of a rubber type material and has very small bristles coming off of it. I have never before seen a mascara brush head like it and again at first I though it was going to be slightly strange and perhaps not very good. I was wrong.

The general use of this mascara is absolutely great and I have no problems with this product at all. The statements that Maybeline make about the mascara being lump free are totally true and through out all the first tube and all the time I have been using this second tube I have not once had a single lump that has appeared when using this product. The other statements Maybeline made such as having long and separated lashes are again totally true and I find my lashes have probably been the longest when using this product. They are lovely and separated and very long. I find my lashes appear very natural when using this product and although I do apply a lot it still seems that they look like my own lashes and that they aren't glooped up with loads of product.

The only thing I would say is that the mascara doesn't thicken the lashes. So for people who want that thick and rich look I wouldn't think that this is the mascara for you. I think my own lashes are thick enough and I personally just want the length and them not all to stick together. This is exactly what this mascara does.

On removing the mascara from my lashes at the end of the day I have no problem what so ever. I have just started to use facial wipes which are 3 in 1 make up removers and before I found these no very good at removing some kinds of mascara (especially that awful no7 one I tried) but this mascara comes off easily. I have been swimming with this mascara on and it didn't run or come off at all. I have been out in torrential rain whilst wearing this and have had no problems.

The first tube of this I bough seemed to last for ages and I think I got every last drop out of the tube. Now I do wear this mascara every day and I would say that it did last me around 3 months, which I think, is pretty good going.

The price of this mascara is a good one and for what you are getting I think it is money well spent. The claims that Maybeline make with this mascara are true. It does everything it says on the tin (tube). It lasts for ages and works brilliantly at lengthening and separating the lashes. Giving you eyes to die for. I am giving this mascara a great score of 10/10 I have found no problems with it and I think I will stick to using it until another product catches my eye that probably wont be anywhere near as good as this one. I would say a brilliant product recommended to all.

I hope this has been of some help to you. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Summary: a great product
