Advantages: Hides blemishes & uneven skin tone quickly and effectivly. Good staying power and not too expensive.

Disadvantages: Doesn't 'illumate' skin like it claims to.

I'm a huge Maybelline fan and it's by far my favourite make-up brand as far as foundation and concealer goes. Boots and Superdrug often have 3 for 2 deals on make-up and I usually stock up on foundation during these times opting for this concealer as my free product. At full price this costs £6.99 and is available in three shades: ivory, nude and sand (or, in other words, light, medium and dark). I usually go for the ivory shade in Maybelline foundation products so I had no difficultly in selecting the correct shade for my skin. However I do think people with darker skin tones would have a little more trouble as the darkest shade does appear quite a lot darker than the medium shade, there isn't much 'inbetween'.

The concealer is gel infused and is supposed to diffuse light to illuminate the skin making it appear brighter whilst hiding blemishes. The product comes in a long beige thin tube with the product name written in white and gold and has quite an elegant look to it. The top of the tube has a plastic beige lid whilst the bottom has a has a darker beige plastic bit which you twist in order to release the concealer. Taking the lid off reveals a small cluster of white, soft bristles which are used to blend in the concealer.

Applying the concealer is relevantly easy although it does take a few uses to get used to how far you need to twist the bottom to release the right amount of concealer. If you twist too far you end up with too much product making blending extremely difficult.

I personally find this concealer to be the best I've ever tried. It gives really good coverage and hides blemishes really easily and quickly. It's very lightweight and doesn't feel or look caked on the slightest. The combination of the bristles and liquid concealer make blending a lot easier than with concealer sticks and, because only a small amount of needed, this stuff lasts for ages! The bristles don't dry up or get clogged with concealer either. In fact, I've been using my current one for about four months now and the only difference between the bristles now and when it was new is that the concealer has stained them so they're no longer white. In terms of performance they work just as well as they did the first time I used the product. The products also stays put for a very long time. I can put a bit of this on in the morning and, even without a primer, it's still giving me pretty much as much coverage at night when I go to take it off as it was when I first applied it. But it still comes off really easily with the aid of make-up remover.

The only real downside to this product is that it doesn't seem to do much in the way of illuminating skin. I guess you could argue this is a massive flaw considering this is the main thing the product boasts but given how good it hides imperfections (which is the main reason most of use concealer anyway) I find it easy to overlook this fact.

Summary: My favourite concealer for a pretty decent price!
