Advantages: Cheap, Seamless Finish, Great Coverage
Disadvantages: Not Compatible With Dry Skin
Expect to pay between £4 - £6 for a pot of Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, which is relatively cheap when compared to some contenders within the cosmetic industry. So, do you get what you pay for?
The mousse comes in a small glass pot with a plastic screw on lid. The standard size is 18g (keep reading review for more on this!). Although the pot is relatively small, it is worth noting that it is quite heavy, especially if you would carry it around in your hangbag on a night out.
Dream Matte Mousse is available in 5 shades; Ivory, Cameo, Nude, Fawn, and Sun Beige, so there should be a shade at least nearly right-on for most.
You apply the mousse by dabbing a small amount onto your finger and then blending into your skin with your fingers. The mousse also works well if used with a foundation brush. The mousse feels wonderful on your skin, as smooth as silk, and is easy to blend in. It gives a great coverage, whilst also feeling really light. Although the pot is small, a tiny amount of this product goes a long way, and it lasts me around 12 weeks, using it once or twice a day.
The mousse is much easier to blend into your jawline than normal liquid foundation, and gives a really seamless finish. It had great staying power, and really did keep my skin matte, as promised.
One tip is that you do need to moisturise before applying the mousse, as it shows up any dry patch, however small. For this reason, I probably wouldnt recommend this product to anyone whose skin is still slightly dry after applying moisturiser, as it would make your make up look obvious, and probably wouldn't be very flattering.
Overall I think this product is phenomenal value for money, and is leaps and bounds ahead of some of it's much pricier competitors.

- 09/10/09 I found exactly the same thing with dry skin unfortunately, and as my skin is very dry I eventually had to stop using it |
