Advantages: lightweight, good colour, keeps shine away

Disadvantages: is a little expensive

I am a fan of the 'Dream Matte' range by Maybelline and use their Mousse foundation, however I don't likt the shine that it sometimes gives me, so I decided to invest in the powder from the same range in order to cure the shininess and give me that 'matte' look I was after!

This costs around £7 in Boots stores, which to me, sounds quite expensive for a pressed powder, especially when you see the foundation costs around £7 too and powders are normally relativley cheaper.
You collect around 24 Boots Avdantage Card points with this item, which is equivalent to 24p. This item is also avaliable in Suprdrug, also some online stores and other pharmacists.

This powder comes in 4 colours that I know of. They all seem to be quite pale, so if you have darker skin unfortuantley you may find that there may not be enough colour range for you, which is a shame as they do have a vast array of foundation colours.
The powder has an easy to open, see through lid, which when opened reveals the powder. Then if you twist the container it reveals a mirror and a little sponge appliance. This is handy as it all fits neatly into one and I really like the fact it has a mirror built in as I can never seem to find one when I need one.

To apply I use the applicator it comes with, which is a round disc shape, similar to sponge applicators, however, it seems to be of a velvet / suede material. When applying the powder seems very smooth and silky. It feels light on the skin and blends in well with the foundation and doesn't sit on top as some powders do.
The powder suits my skin very well and is a more white based powder than an orange based one, which I much prefer as this is more suited to my skin tone. This make up is very light once and just a small amount I find is enough to cover the face.
I do find that this powder removes / covers the shine and makes my skin look matte. I wear blusher anyway, however, if you wear this product I'd definitley reccomend wearing a blusher with it as your face make a look a bit like a blank canvas without it and you will find no definition in your face.

I was thoroughly impressed with this product as it was able to keep shine at bay for most of the day, I only need to reapply once. Also, due to it being so light to wear I found it did not exagerate any pores / spots and instead gave just the amount of coverage I needed.

I was also impressed with the quality of the mirror, as often mirrors that are built into a product can be of cheap quality, however this mirror was very crisp and clear and could easily be cleaned with a wipe around of a tissue.

Overall I'd definitley reccomend this item and I do believe it works best with conjuction of the other items in the 'Dream Matte' range!

Summary: Keep shine at bay!
