Advantages: Long lasting nice subtle colour that you can build up, feels lovely on the skin
Disadvantages: Can stick to creases in the eye
I decided to try the Maybelline dream mousse eye shadow because it was on a 3 for 2 offer in boots. Just like the rest of the range it comes in a glass pot but the pot is a lot smaller than the ones for the blusher and foundation for obvious reasons.
I like the little glass pots as I find that they are easier to carry around with me and the lids fit really securely so I don't need to worry about the eye colour falling out and messing up the inside of my bag.
There wasn't the biggest selection of shades but there was enough that any skin tone should be able to find one to compliment them.
Inside the little pot is the coloured mousse which is actually more like a semi solid cream than a mousse.
The mousse is easy to apply with either a brush or your finger and when it goes on the skin it blends lovely. The colour is quite light and opaque so I did find that to be able to get a decent showing of colour I needed to put on a couple of layers.
It feels really nice on my skin and goes on so silky. Like all the dream mousses I did worry it was going to be a bit greasy because of how silky it felt but it does actually resemble a powder when it is on the skin.
When I had built up the colour to how I wanted it I was really happy with it and found the longevity was really good. It didn't just slide off my eye lids or mysteriously disappear throughout the day like the foundation seemed to and it more or less stayed put until I was ready to remove it.
The one thing I did notice is that it did seem to cling more to the creases of my eye than a traditional powder eye shadow does so it might not be the best colour for older ladies because I don't imagine this clumping would be too flattering if you were trying to disguise some wrinkles.
Boots charge £6.19 for a little pot which I think is a fair price for what you get. However it is nearly always on offer somewhere so I would recommend that you shop around before buying it.
Summary: A subtle but long lasting eye colour from maybelline
