Advantages: Light, easy to apply.
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for people with bad skin- it's quite a thin coverage.
Before I tried this new air foam make-up, I was using the original type of this make-up for about two years, so my review will be based mainly on the comparisons of the two.
----Price----
This can be bought from boots for £8.99, although I'm pretty sure it did not cost this much when I bought it!
It can also be bought from Tesco, Superdrug and other common stores.
The pricing can be argued against, as some people may think £8.99 is quite high, but to be fair in comparison to many other foundations in stores, it's not too bad, and there are many which cost a lot more!
I would, and will, be paying this price for it next time as I do think its worth it.
---The bottle---
This foundation comes in a 50ml bottle which dispense as a foam- hence the name!
I don't find the bottle to be too big, it fits nicely in my make up bag which is not that large, and it is generally about the same size as the original foundation Maybelline do.
The foam dispenser I don't like very much, but this has only been recently that I have started to have problems, and I have had this for about two months now.
At the start of using this make up, I shook it for about 15 minutes and for some reason all I got out was clear white foam, as if the make up wasn't mixing properly! In fact I almost took it back to boots as I thought I'd picked up a dodgy bottle! But after a while, the colour did begin to come out and I've had no problems since.
The foam comes out quite fast at first, then slows down, so if you are only wanting a tiny amount to patch up an area or add more to a certain area, you will get more than you need! However when applying in the morning, with experience I have gradually learnt how to get the right amount I need.
The problem I have started to have with this dispenser is that it now spits at me! Whenever I use it, it spits out as it begins to flow and it gets everywhere! Luckily, it has not stained any clothing so far, but it has got all over my leather sofa and the carpet.
To avoid this, I have now started spraying the foundation into the lid instead of on my hand- I wish I had thought of this sooner! This way, all the sprays get caught and there's no waste, and no mess!
---Applying---
This foundation comes out as a foam, not a thick cream like the original foundation!
In all honesty, it did take me a few weeks to get used to this foundation, so I would recommend if you are going to try it, to give it a chance! As it is a foam, it applies as a thinner layer which for me is good as I don't like to wear too much foundation, I only like a little to cover small blemishes and spots.
For people with bad skin, a few layers of this would be needed, which probably is not desirable and it's probably worth buying a thicker foundation with better coverage!
So this foundation is not for everyone!
I quite like the scent of this make up, it is slightly perfumed but not enough to worry about it harming or irritating my skin.
I find this foundation goes on well and spreads very easily, it is very soft and 'watery' although not dribbly or drippy. I like to rub it in like a moisturiser for best coverage and I don't feel like it makes my skin feel dry or coated.
When applying, I find I need to wait a short while for the foundation to dry and sink into my skin, as it can be rubbed off easily.
One of the down sides, as with every foundation, is that it does get on your fingers. Although I find this foundation gets in my nails and down the sides of my nails which is not easy to get out, so when I'm work I sometimes feel like my nails look dirty!
---Lasting---
This foundation does no advertise on the bottle that it has any extended lasting effects. Which is right as this foundation does not last longer than throughout the day for me.
I apply the foundation in the morning about 7 or 8, and I don't add another layer unless of course im going anywhere special! By night time, when I use a face wipe before washing, there isn't a considerable amount of foundation on the cloth! So this must either mean I rub my face a lot throughout the day, or it somehow vanishes!
So for anybody wanting a thick, long lasting foundation, this probably is not the one for you.
Although my review may sound quite critical, I do actually like this foundation.
I like a thin layer, and as long as there is something still left by the end of the day, I'm not that bothered.
On my bad days when I have bad spots, it is very noticeable by the middle of the day that my foundation has worn off, which isn't very good! But I'm too lazy to go and spend ages finding another make up which matches my skin tone!
---Shades---
This foundation can be found in various shades including-
Ivory
Cameo
Nude
Light beige
Sun beige
Fawn
Caramel
Sand
It is the sand shade I went for, as I'm not pale and I have a very slight tan tone to my skin.
I find I can't use this foundation shade after my holidays, when I've got a tan, so it's not that mixable with tones! But during the other seasons, it does me just fine!
Thank you for reading! I also post on Ciao
Summary: I like it!
