Advantages: Price, Adapts to skin tone well, Packaging, Covers imperfections
Disadvantages: Can appear greasy, Can sometimes look uneven
I needed a new foundation that made my skin look flawless and wasn't too pricey, so from the advert on TV, this seemed perfect.
*Packaging*
Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a pump dispenser. I find this useful because it's easy to pump out the amount you want. It's also hygienic because bacteria can't get in and contaminate the foundation. On the front of the bottle the name and shade of the product is there. On the back there is a description.
*Using The Product*
The pump is easy to use. All you have to do is pump out the foundation and apply it to your face. Although the product is stated to be 'air-whipped', this is a liquid; not a mousse. However, it does feel a little lighter than your average liquid foundation. It's not very thick, without being thin which allows it to be evenly distributed over your skin. I use my fingers when applying this. I find that using a brush can make it appear a little streaky.
*The Results*
After using this my face looked more luminous with small imperfections covered. (e.g pimples, faint dark under-eye circles). I wouldn't say that my skin looks pore-less, as it claims, but I wasn't expecting it to with it being so light. I was quite shocked to find it adapts to my skin tone well. Even when I have fake tan on, this foundation seems to blend to the tan colour of my skin. I am impressed by this. The only troubles I had with this was the foundation seemed to look odd over my nose- it appeared to have sunk into the pores on my nose, creating little orange dots. I have found this with every Maybelline foundation I have tried though, especially Dream Matte Mousse. This foundation gives quite a dewy effect and if you have oily skin (like me) it will need to be set with powder. But I found it when I applied my powder with a powder puff, it created small lines on my face. I think this was due the fact of the foundation not really setting properly and staying 'damp'.
*Conclusion*
This is an average foundation. It can be bought from Boots at £7.82, but it was on offer for around £6.00 when I bought it. I would maybe buy it again if I didn't have much money but I'm sure there are better foundations on the the market for the same price.
Summary: An okay foundation...
