Advantages: It feels smooth.

Disadvantages: Ivory shade is too dark, it sits in your pores and simply didn't give me an 'air-brush finish at all

I was drawn to this foundation when I saw the advertising campaign for it on TV and in magazines. It was being pushed as a liquid foundation that would give you an 'air brush finish' and not emphasise the appearance of pores by giving a 'poreless looking perfection'. I had previously tried Maybelline's Mineral liquid foundation before this and my only gripe with that one had been the fact it settled into my pores and emphasised the look of them very badly!

So I was very drawn to this foundation, and at the time it was on pomotion in Boots saving £2 off the normal price which is £7.82. That is the usual price for foundations by companies such as Maybelline, and I only paid £5.82 which was a good bargain.

The foundation is only available in 8 shades, with the fairest being 010 Ivory which is the shade I opted for as I have very fair skin. The names of the other shades are similar to the shades they use for all of their foundations, however each foundation type can be different so I always recommend testing out the shades in a shop first before buying.

The Dream Satin Liquid foundation comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a pump top, the same as the liquid Mineral foundation they do but with a different design label to it. The front of the bottle boldly states 'Air-Whipped Foundation Air-Brush Finish' and the label on the back boasts about how this is a make-up 'sensation' that gives an amazing air brush finish with it's amazing air-whipped formula. They're really pushing the whole air brush finish claim to this foundation and probably playing on the fact that models are often 'air brushed' and so suggesting that using this foundation will give the same affect. But can £7.82 buy you that air brush finish?

No it can't. I was very disappointed with this foundation. To be truthful I wasn't expecting anything great from this foundation, I never do from companies such as Maybelline, but the fact it keeps on suggesting the amazing finish this supposedly gives to your make-up and how it smoothens out pores made me hope it would at least do this to a reasonable extent. Of course it seems like it was too much to ask for.

Applying this foundation with my fingers I wasn't too impressed. It just seemed like your average foundation and straight away it sank into my pores and clogged up my face. So there goes the 'poreless looking perfection' claim! It took a while to blend in and when finished I didn't notice anything 'air-brushed' about my appearance at all.
I had also choosen the lightest shade in their range, Ivory, however it was slightly too dark for my skin tone but I have tried Ivory in their other foundations such as the Dream Matte Mousse and the liquid Mineral foundation and they were light enough.

The only good thing about this foundation was it did feel smooth, despite it not smoothing out the appearance of my skin. Aside from this I can't even use it as a basic foundation for days I just want to apply something quick and easy, as it's just too much work to make it look 'right' on my face.

I wouldn't believe the advertising campaign with this one, especially if you have large pores like me, because it just doesn't live up to it's own claims. It might work better on people who don't suffer from open or large pores, people who already have rather smooth skin might find this helps, but it certainly didn't do anything for me.

Summary: Doesn't live up to it's claims, so spend your money elsewhere.

Thanks for this great review, I was tempted to buy this, but having large pores myself and not having great sucess in the past with Maybelline foundations, I shall be giving this a wide berth. X
