I don't often use Maybelline foundation, my foundation of choice is Max Factor colour adapt. I picked this up when I was running low on foundation yesterday because my shade of MFCA was sold out. I was definitely swayed by the advertising of "100% poreless look, air-brush satin finish".

PACKAGING

The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump top. The labelling and pump are creamy skin shades making them seem to blend into the foundation, not an unpleasant look. The label says "air whipped foundation, air brush finish". They're really bringing home the "air" part of the foundation.

It also claims flawless, seamless, smooth, subtly luminous.

Colours run dark, but I find that with most foundations.

APPLICATION AND RESULTS

My first application was with fingers. I pumped the foundation onto the back of my hand and applied to my face with fingertips. I have to say I was not impressed with the feel of the foundation. On my fingers and face it felt greasy and damp. The foundation looked patchy on my skin and uneven in texture, and my pored looked so big and deep they had their own shadows.

Thinking it was my skin, I washed off the foundation and cleansed my skin, making sure to clean and thoroughly dry my hands. Application number two was with a sponge. Second time lucky I thought. Application with the sponge gave the same results. Huge pores, uneven foundation.

Really unimpressed now and getting a little desperate, I tried a third time with a brush. All I can say about that attempt is it ended in swirly foundation marks.

Now, foundation is hit and miss, I totally get that, but when a product claims to be innovative I expect at least something approaching their claims. Flawless, seamless, smooth, and subtly luminous it is not.
