I needed to top up my foundation levels this month and popper into Superdrug to pick up the one I am currently using. As I was browsing the Maybelline section, I noticed that all of their products are on offer at 3 for 2. I use Maybelline foundation anyway so decided to pick up a different one so that I can switch between the two, rather than buy a different one next month.


** Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation **

The Dream Satin Liquid Foundation is designed to give you a 100% poreless look with an 'airbrush finish'. Maybelline's website claims that this foundation had 'the light airy feel of a mousse with the blendability of a liquid'.

The foundation is available in 8 different shades, ranging from Nude to Cocoa and can be picked up in Boots and Superdrug, plus large supermarkets and stores that stock the Maybelline range.

It RRPs at around £8 for a 30ml bottle and is currently on offer in Superdrug on 3 for 2 with all Maybelline products, you also receive a free Maybelline tote bag with your purchase.


** Packaging **

This foundation comes in a 30ml, tall, glass bottle. The glass is clear to allow you to see the shade of the foundation through it. With a clear cap that simply pulls off, it is easy to access the pump in the top of the bottle that releases the foundation.

The decoration of the bottle is very simple, with the Maybelline logo in white and black writing stating that the product is 'Dream Satin Liquid Foundation'.


** The Foundation **

Maybelline claim this foundation has the 'light airy feel of a Mousse' but can give the coverage of liquid foundation. When first pumping this foundation, it seems just like any other liquid foundation that I have used before, and once applied it didn't seem much different either.

The shade of the foundation when applied is the same as it looks in the bottle and it is very easy to blend into the skin. Also, the foundation has no scent, which is always a bonus!


** Application **

I always apply a small amount of foundation to each cheek and my forehead and then blend in. This seems to work with this product and it blends in very easy, without leaving lines or marks to indicate that I am wearing foundation.

One pump of the bottle releases enough foundation to cover my whole face; a tiny blob on each cheek and my forehead is more than enough. The foundation is light and does feel like the Dream Matte Mousse when being applied, so Maybelline seem to live up to their claim here.


** Wearing it **

I find it difficult to find a shade of foundation that doesn't stand out too much on my face, I am quite pale and many dark shades give me lines around my chin and must make me look orange. The 'nude' shade in this foundation suits my skin perfectly and you can hardly tell that I am wearing it.

The lightweight formula does make you feel as though you are not wearing anything on your face and leaves my skin feeling soft throughout the day.

However, unlike the Dream Matte Mousse, this foundation doesn't allow my skin to breathe as if I am not wearing anything throughout the day and feels slightly cloggy. I have worn foundations that are worse for doing this but I have also found one that feels as though I am not wearing anything at all on my skin. So anything less than this does not seem as good.

Working long shifts, I need a foundation that lasts all day and does not require a top up, this does last all day and I feel as fresh as I did when I arrived on leaving.


This is a good foundation and, for the price, will last long enough to get your money's worth out of it. There are a good range of shades available so you will always find one to suit your skin and the bottle is simple but look smart.

The only problem that I have is the fact that my skin doesn't feel as though it can breathe as well as other foundations I have used but I can see past this.
