      Not bad but not great

This is a product is a trio of eyeshadows in one compact. With Maybelline's eyeshadows you can either buy them singularly or buy them in trio or quads. When you buy these multi-eyeshadow pallettes, the coloure are meant to complement each other and be used either singularly or with one or more of them.

The trio I own is number 5 - Nothing But Neutrals. The packaging is very simple. The edge of the casing is dark blue, with a clear section in the middle which you can see through to check the colour. It states the product is hypo-allergenic on the back. To open just use your thumb to push the lid up. There is a little space at the front of the pallette with a little double ended sponge applicator. I use this for applying the shadows and find it to be better than most free applicators that come with makeup are. I think you get a better result with a proper shadow brush though.

The colours you get in this trio are a creamy-white, a mushroom and a third colour that is quite unusual but I'll call it lilac. The colours themselves are very nice. The cream white is probably best for using to highlight the browbone as it can look a little full on as a all-over wash. The lilac is very pretty and appears a little metallic even. I have worn a whole down to the bottom on this one so I guess this is my favourite. The mushroom is great for a natural keeping it simple kind of look. The cream colour is fine to use alongside the other two but I would not reccommend mixing the lilac and brown. I actually use these one at a time myself.

The downside to this is that they are very dry and chalky. I apply these in the morning and sometimes when I get back at 6 say, the colour is pretty much gone. This is despite me using a bit of foundation and powder on my eyelids to give the shadow a base to stick to. I also find that when applying sometimes they flake off and I get little flecks of colour on my face. This probably means there is too much chalk in it.

I think I paid about £5 for this. Maybelline have since redesigned their eyeshadow ranges so this trio may no longer be available in the chemists though ebay may have it. However I am not sure it is good enough to warant hunting down.

Goes on well. Stays on well. You can use it to the end.Doesn't dry out before you've used it up.With normal care doesn't run.Gives full lashes without an artificial look (unless you dry and re-apply)As with all mascaras a brushing recomended after application. A tip:clean the brush on your eyebrows for a look far more natural than a pencil will give.Dark brown looks dark enough and far more natural than stark black.Found out by accident by picking it up in a hurry instead of the black and opening before I saw my mistake.
