Why didn't I buy this sooner I could literally kick myself! I went to superdrug yesterday and picked this up. I was unsure wether to get it or not and I'm so glad I did. In the box was a little brush that came with it too so I liked that although I won't use it but never mind. This was just a small round pot and I bought black. Normally when I apply eyeliner I use a slanted brush and wipe it onto my eyeliner stick which isn't ideal but I found this worked better for me until I thought of buying it out of a pot! This eyeliner is just brilliant it's silky smooth and without hardly any effort it transfers straight onto the brush. It's so easy to apply and much better than using a stock that's for side. If your looking for new eyeliner then buy this one. No mess - no sharpener needed - just a good slanted brush!
Maybelline have created a great eye liner that just won't budge! It's easy application and really dark. This is my first experience of gel liner, I'm normally a kohl or liquid eye liner only kinda gal. I've read so many reviews into this gel eye liner and had to give it a try! I do find that if you start by applying a kohl line as a guide line, then it will make it easier to apply the gel line. After a couple of failed attempts, too much product on the brush or accidentally covering my eye lashes instead, I decided I needed to do something a little different. So I now use this with an angle brush rather than the brush supplied and lo and behold, it's as easy as pie to achieve that finished look! By using an angled brush rather than the brush supplied, I have found that it's now easy to create the perfect cat flick. I found that the brush supplied can be too harsh and can end up rubbing off the eye liner while it's wet. The only downside to this is that the product feels a bit 'wetter' than I'm used to? It takes a couple of tries before I was able to get it right. But once you get the hang of it, it is such an effective look!!!
= = = = = = The Product = = = = = = The product I am reviewing is by Maybelline and is a Gel Eyeliner. This product has been available to purchase for quite a while now, how-ever I have only just purchased it after getting back into wearing eyeliner again. I used to wear liquid eyeliner quite a bit, but then I stopped. I recently watched some make-up tutorials and they often use gel eyeliner which is why I purchased this product. This gel eyeliner is Maybelline's 1st catwalk-inspired liner which has an oil free formula meaning it holds concentrated pigments in a clear gel base. The eyeliner is smudge free and water resistant and they claim that this lasts up to 24hrs. The eyeliner is suitable for people with sensitive eyes and is ophthalmologist-tested. It's also suitable for contact lens wearers as well. Although the gel eyeliner comes in a small pot this actually comes in a cardboard box which is quite tall and is silver and black in colour. It clearly states on the front of the box what the product is and that it's made by Maybelline. The colour is on the very top of the box which is "01 Intense Black". There is also a small round picture showing you the finished results of using the eyeliner. On the side of the packaging on the bottom you can find a list of ingredients and on the back of the box it gives you a little information about the product. This information is also in 4 different languages. The box opens easily for you to tip upside down to get the small jar of the gel eyeliner out and also the applicator brush. I had to shake the box a little in order to get the small jar out. The gel eyeliner comes in a small round glass jar which has a frosted look to it. The lid to the jar is silver and is made from metal. The lids screws off easily to reveal the eyeliner which has a smooth but glossy look to it. The eyeliner is very black. The applicator brush is black and is thin which makes it easy to hold. It's approximately 9cm long and has a thin brush head on the end to enable you to apply the product to your eyes carefully and accurately. The brush head should have a plastic tube which covers the hairs on the brush when not in use. = = = = = = = = Price/Availability = = = = = = = = I purchased the eyeliner from Superdrug for £7.99 which does seem quite expensive; how-ever other brands of gel eyeliner can be much more expensive than this. In Superdrug they currently have all make-up products on offer for 3 for 2. You can also purchase this item from Boots for the same price. The product does actually come in other colours which include: * Brown * Ultra Violet * Black Gold * Black Silver When comparing this product to other Gel Liners that are available this product is actually cheaper when comparing it to brands such as Revlon & L'Oreal. = = = = = = = = Using the Product = = = = = = = = This probably isn't an ideal for product for people who don't have steady hands as you do need to have a very steady hand when applying this for accurate and best results. The product can be applied on it's on or over the top of an eye shadow. Maybelline suggest applying the product in small strokes, gliding the liner across the lash line for the inner to the outer corner of the eye. To enhance the look extend and thicken the line from the outer corner up towards the brow and wing out for extra drama. I removed the plastic protector from the brush tip and lightly ran the brush along the top of the eyeliner. The brush makes light marks on the top of the liner so you can see where you have picked up some of the product. As the liner is so dark and the hairs to the brush are a light colour you can clearly see the product on the end of the brush. Using the tip if the brush which is very thin I gently applied the liner to my eyelid getting as close to the lash line as possible. Rather than using one long stroke I applied the liner using small strokes as suggested on the packaging, this is much easier to ensure that you apply the eyeliner without making too much of a mistake. I did actually extend the line slightly to enhance the look of my eyes and this was probably the hardest but about applying the liner as you have to try and make sure that each eye looks the same. I didn't manage to do this the first time and had to wipe one of the extended lines away, how-ever I did manage to do it the second time around. As the liner is a gel formula it's so easy to apply without needing to put any pressure onto the brush. You can apply the product easily by gently touching the eyelid with the tip of the brush to apply the liner. After applying the liner I looked closely in the mirror to see if I missed any bits and to see if any areas near the lash line needed filling in, which it did a little. I finished the look off with some volumising mascara. = = = = Results = = = = When looking in the mirror at the results, I absolutely loved the look the eyeliner gave to my eyes. It made them stand out a lot more, especially now I had applied some mascara to my lashes as well. The flicks at the outer corners of the eyes looked perfect and I had managed to get them looking the same after applying the liner carefully. The liner is very black so is noticeable whether you wear it on its own or with eye shadow. As this product claims to last for 24hrs, it would be interesting to see how the liner itself performed during the day. Due to the claims I wasn't expecting it to wear off or smudge at any point during the day, how-ever I would soon find out whether this claim was true or not. I applied the liner in the morning before going to work and I didn't check on the eyeliner until early afternoon which was at least 3hrs later. At this point the liner was still looking good and indeed it hadn't smudged or started to wear away yet which was good. I still had another 3-4hrs left of work so I would check my make-up again before leaving work. When checking on my make-up before leaving work I noticed that the outer corners where I applied the liner wasn't as sharp looking as it was before. The flicks appeared a little smudged and looked as though they were wearing off a little as well. At no point during the day did I rub my eyes so I can't even blame the smudging or wearing off because of that. I had no intention of re-applying the eyeliner and I didn't have it with me anyway. By early evening which was around 10rs after applying the liner it was now starting to look slightly more smudged. The flicks weren't looking as good now and were no longer sharp flicks, but slightly blurred and smudged flicks. There was also a few smudged on my actual lid as well where I had applied the liner. I was disappointed by this as it clearly isn't smudge proof and doesn't last 24hrs as it claims to. The liner was easy to remove using a facial cleansing wipe and I didn't have to rub at my eyes too much in order to get it off. It's probably a good idea to clean the brush after each use; otherwise it can become a little stiff when you go to use it next time. You can clean it easily using a small amount of mild shampoo such as baby shampoo and leaving it to dry naturally. As it's a small brush, it doesn't take long to dry. I always wash mine and leave it over-night to dry ready to use the following day or for next time I want to use it. = = = = = = = Overall Opinion = = = = = = = I have to admit that after seeing this product and reading about the product on the packaging I did have high-hopes of it and did also expect it to live up to its claims, especially the part about the liner not smudging. The pot that the gel liner comes in is really cute and will fit into a make-up bag easily along with the small applicator brush. I was actually surprised at how easy the liner was to apply to my eyes but I do think the thin applicator brush made applying the product much easier. As previously mentioned you do need to have a steady hand in order to apply this product to your eyes. The liner glides on effortlessly and because it's intense black there is no need to go over the same area again. The good thing about the brush is that if you don't get as close to the lash line as you hoped you can fill the areas in using the brush and a little more of the liner before applying some mascara to finish off the look. Although I extended the liner and did flicks at the outer corner of each eye you don't have to do this. The flicks aren't the easiest thing to do as you have to try and get them the same of each eye which sometimes isn't the easiest thing to do. I loved the overall look of the mascara and I thought it looked great for a day or evening look. Although you can apply the liner on top of an eye shadow I haven't done this so I can't comment on how well this looks or what the results are. I was disappointed that the liner smudged during the day and that it didn't look as sharp as it had when I first applied it. If you decided to wear the liner all day and into the evening as well it would no doubt need touching up at some point. In terms of price the product does seem a little pricey; how-ever it is a fair bit cheaper when comparing it to other gel liners by other well-known brands. I really like the look of the eyeliner so I am going to continue using it, how-ever I will have to bear in mind that it may need re-applying if I want to wear the liner throughout the day and into the evening. I have already decided that I want to purchase the liner in Black Silver to see what the colour of this one is like. (review will also appear on ciao)
Item: Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner Colour: 08 Gold Black Price: £7.99 Bought in: Boots This was just new out when I bought it. Why did I buy it? Um because it was new!!! Haha I'm a sucker for a new product! Packaging and design: THE BOX - This eye liner set comes in a tall silver tapered cardboard box. It has Maybelline written across the top of the box and "Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner" written across the middle in large bold letters. There is a photo of an eye with liner on it and a brush next to it so you can visually see that you will apply the liner with a brush. There is also a photo of the glass pot to again explain that this is an eye liner that comes in a pot. The name of the colour is typed across the photo of the pot, in this case "Gold Black" and you can see the colour of the gel in the photo too. Each colour is specific to the box. The back of the box has details to advise you that the "Creamy gel type allows to draw a smooth line without creases." And advises you that it comes with an "exclusive" eye liner brush. This made me chuckle a little once I saw the brush and it looks like a standard lip brush!! Haha not sure how exclusive that is. THE GLASS POT - This is made of a thick frosted glass and the base of the pot measures 3.5cm wide, is 2cm high but the metal lid is only 2.5cm wide as this is slightly smaller than the base of the pot. The metal lid does open easily but closes securely. Once the lid is off the opening of the pot is 2cm wide. This gives you ample access to the eye liner gel inside. THE EYE LINER BRUSH - This is 11.5cm long, the handle makes up 11cm of that and the brush is 0.5cm long. The bristles are covered over with a clear plastic 2cm tube of plastic. "Maybelline New York" is written is silver across the handle of the brush and looks quite classy. The brush is roughly the length of a standard eye liner pencil so there is no difference in how easy this is to hold compared to a standard eye liner. How to apply and results: You dab the brush in the gel pot and can brush off any excess on the side of the opening of the pot. To get practiced I tried drawing a line on the back of my hand. This gave me an idea of how much gel I needed on the brush and how much pressure to apply to the brush. Once I was ready to apply this to my eye line I simply held my eye lid in place by pulling the outer corner towards the edge of my face to get the skin nice and tight, then glided the brush along the desired area. The gel goes on really smoothly and does create a bold stripe. It dries in really quickly and you can increase the line straight away as the gel has fully dried within seconds. The colour is really deep and as I picked the Gold Black it is very dark, but also has a golden glimmer through it. I chose this to wear over dark brown shadows as I find that the brown pencil I had wasn't dark enough and black was too dark so this was a perfect in between colour. The liner stays where you have applied it all night and even when I find myself rubbing the edge of my eye I don't come away with any colour on my fingers. Even though it dries in and is quite a thick mixture it doesn't feel heavy or tight. Also worth a mention: *The cover from the little brush is really cheap in comparison to the rest of the packaging and cracks then falls off easily so I now wish I had kept the original box to pop the set back in when not using as the eye gel does get on everything in my makeup bag when the plastic cover falls off. *The brush can get quite gloopy because the gel not only dries on the eye lid it also dries on the brush so you do need to give this a nice firm wipe with a tissue after use to prevent that. I am really happy with this little set. It is a more modern version of a product I already have but it was fun to get a new way to apply eye liner. The colour is deep and has a good glimmer through it. At £7.99 it is a bit pricey but I have already got my eye on the plain black version and will wait until the next 3 for 2 offer is on in Boots or Superdrug to get that. I have used this quite a few times and there is hardly a dent in the gel so it does look like it will be long lasting too. I will give this 4 stars, only 1 star has been taken off due to the plastic cover cracking and falling off as it really lets the set down as the gel gets all over the place. As the rest of the set is so well made it is a pity that the cover for the brush lets it down.
*Updated 19.08.2013* Price I bought this eye liner for £7.99 from Superdrug although I have seen it much cheaper via ebay at prices in the region of £3.50 so it's worth looking. Although the pot is small on appearance it is deep and I found you only needed a little bit of this product and it went a long way. I spend a similar price on pencil eyeliners which in my opinion don't last as long as you have to keep sharpening. My only issue with the product in terms of value for money is that having had the product for a few months now, and using it daily it has dried up. This may be due to me not putting the lid on it properly (the lid is a screw top and bit of a poor design) or just the nature of the product that once opened it does dry out. It may also be due to the hot weather we are having. In any case whilst the product goes a long way it doesn't last thus Maybelline may be best making an even smaller pot and charging less!! Packaging As already stated the pot is small and this comes in a small long cardboard container. To be honest I think this is slightly unnecessary - it pads out the product and makes it look like you're buying more than you are. However it is useful in having the instructions on the box and image of what to expect. Also the eyeliner comes with the brush which does need to go somewhere I supposed! Application Application was so easy (and I usually get very impatient with gel eyeliners)! The liner was creamy and rich and went onto the skin so smoothly! The brush was petite enough to do intricate work and also big enough to do more bold looks. After a few uses and leaving the brush out however it would become 'hardened' very easily and this was difficult to clean. It would be great if they provided an additional brush so you had one to use whilst cleaning the other one! The pigmentation of the liner was really good and gave a very striking bold black look. This eyeliner is also available in brown however!! As the pigmentation and texture of the eyeliner was so good I found that one application was enough and I didn't need to go over lines at all. Results Results were great - a very bold intense black colour which goes great with all different types of eyeshadows without 'drowning' them out. The main downfall to the product was that despite it's claims I didn't feel it was long lasting and I did have to reapply after a few hours. There wasn't too much in the way of smudging but it did take a while to dry which meant I did occasionally get a bit of the smudge line - especially on inpatient mornings! Although there are a few problems with this product I properly would buy it again - although I think I will hunt the market for other gel eyeliners first!
I bought this eyeliner because there was such a hype in the media, this hype though was certainly not a fad like some are but the real deal. This product is so pigmented you get a super intense liner look that can also be really versatile to create a wide range of looks from super intense to subtle enhancements. The formula is quite nice too but it's not really a gel but more of a cream so it drys out fairly quickly but its nothing that can't be with a hairdryer. Its pretty easy to remove as well so if you make a mistake it can be easily corrected with a bit of water and eyeshadow. The downside is this product is not blend-able so you need a fairly steady hand to get good results, even a bit of blending will cause a flakey mess. Although a small thin brush is provided with the product (and it's not bad) its a great liner to experiment with different brushes and try out different looks and styles, the brush provided is great for doing drama, super thick and dark liner that looks really modern rockstar look. I personally like to use a thin brush with a slanted angle that allows great control to create thinner liner and flicks that look a little more natural but you can also build with. Overall I would definitely recommend this product if your thinking about trying gel liner but aren't to sure if it's for you, or if you are looking for decent quality on a budget. If you want the perfect formula I would recommend looking at bobby brown or Illamasqua.
PRICE & AVAILABILITY This is priced at 7.99 and is available at Boots and Superdrugs. However, there are many offers available all the time in Boots and Superdrugs so pick this up when its 3 for 2 or something like that. You get 2.8g of product and a brush with it. PACKAGING This came in a box and inside the box there was the gel liner and a eyeliner brush. The gel liner came in a little pot with a silver lid. I think that the lid is very secure and you can easily tightly close it after using the gel liner so that it doesn't dry out. The eyeliner brush is about 5 inches long and the brush tip itself is rounded. I quite like the brush as it is quite handy considering I didn't have a eyeliner brush. Even now, I use the Maybelline brush rather any other eyeliner brushes that I own. PRODUCT & APPLICATION The gel eyeliner itself is very creamy. It applies very smoothly on the skin and it looks flawless. The pigmentation of this eyeliner is amazing. Unlike other gel eyliners where you would have to go over the line again and again until the black shows up, this gel liner you only need one stroke to get a blacker than black colour. However, the colour is not the only thing I am massively impressed with. Before I bought this, I applied some of this eyeliner in Boots to see just how it looks like and I kind of liked it. It was not until the next day did I realised that there was a very strange black mark on the back of my hand. Then it struck to me that this is the gel eyeliner that I had swatched. I was just shocked. The gel liner had lasted over 24 hours on the back of my hand and god knows how many times I must have washed my hands. I immediately knew then I had to get this. The longevity of this gel liner is just amazing. At the end of a long hard day my eyeshadow and mascara might have just disappeared or melted away but this eyeliner is always in the same place it was in the morning. I have never had any smudging problems with this...unless I accidentally rubbed my eye. You would think this would be hell to remove at the end of the day but it actually removes quite nicely if you use a proper eye make-up remover. Another point I am impressed with is that this doesn't dry out soon. I had this for about 9 months and it is now slightly showing some signs of drying. So it lasts quite a long time. OVERALL I definitely recommend this anyone who wants a good black gel eyeliner. It comes with the gel liner and a brush so it's great for beginners. It may be hard to apply gel liner at first but I think after you master the arts of gel liner it definitely is the most easy way of applying eyeliner. I used to love liquid eyeliner but I have been converted to gel liner ever since I bought this product. I love this product and I don't think I will ever buy any other gel liner, especially high-end ones that cost 2 or 3 times more and perform the same if not worse. Will I buy this again? YES! YES! YES!
I wanted to jump on the whole 'gel eyeliner' craze for a while and I was deliberating which one to go for now that so many brands are creating their own. I was originally looking at high end products like the MAC fluidline and Bobby brown's version. Anyway after quite a bit of research (since I was planning on spending quite a bit of money I wanted to make sure I bought the best one!) I looked all over youtube and everyone was saying this was a brilliant dupe that gives the high end products a run for their money. This eyeliner comes in 2 different colours, black and black/brown. I went for the essential black gel eyeliner. In the box there is a little brush which is pretty handy since most gel eyeliners do not. The pot which contains the gel eyeliner isn't very exciting. It is simply a translucent plastic pot with a metallic screw on lid. It doesn't look very luxurious at all. That aside the gel eyeliner is smooth and very creamy. However I have had it a while now and it is starting to get dry lumps in it. Getting rid of these is a waste of product but for the price of £7.99 I wasn't complaining. The staying power on this has got to be its best attribute. I can put this on and very quickly it will set in place and it will last all day. I have quite oily eyelids and I do sometimes have trouble with ordinary eyeliner sliding out of place, which is why I was after a gel liner in the first place! But I can safely say I have had no problems with this! The brush makes application very easy, however I need to give mine a good clean because the bristles are already coming out of place! It is very easy to do winged eyeliner or just a typical line. The brush is very easy to hold and therefore control. It does take some practice to get the general technique of putting eyeliner on but I know eventually I will get there! I have also tried this eyeliner on the waterline and unlike my rimmel kohl pencil, this doesn't budge! It faded slightly on my night out but compared to my nonexisting lasting power of my pencil, I was very impressed! The black is strong and bold and makes your eyes look striking when used on the waterline. Overall I am very impressed with this product and I will continue to use it based on its amazing lasting power. It can get annoying to apply but I know that after practice it will glide on lovely. There is a knack to getting the right amount of product at any one time and gently applying it to the eye. Once this is figured out it will be perfect. Definitely not worth getting the higher end products when this does the exact same job. The only difference I would say is that the packaging isn't as expensive looking which is what you would expect from a drugstore product. Definitely recommend and I am looking to repurchase in the brown colour!
When I first purchased this I'd never tried a gel eyeliner before. I wanted to try the Mac one but went for the cheaper alternative as I wasn't sure if I'd get on with it...I've since tried the Bobbi Brown version but will always return to this one! Maybelline is a drug store/high street brand but in my experience the products are always high-quality and come with a much more appealing price tag. Maybelline is available in Boots and Superdrug, some of the supermarkets also stock it to which is handy. THE CLAIMS: * Oil-free formula holds concentrated pigments in a clear gel base. * Smudge and water resistant. * Up to 24 hour wear. * Our most intense line for lasting drama. * Safe for sensitive eyes and ophthalmologist-tested * Contact lens safe. MY EXPERIENCE: Let me start by saying gel eyeliner is probably the trickiest to apply. Unlike most of the high end brand this product comes with a small brush which is useful especially if you've never tried gel liner before you may not have a suitable brush. The brush is usable not amazing but not bad. The texture of the product is easy to work with, it's soft and gives you plenty of time to get the right finish before drying. It doesn't dry out over time providing you keep the lid on nice and tight between uses. The product glides on smoothly and once dry stays on perfectly all day, no smudging. I sometimes use it on the waterline and again it stays on well. The colour is very strong to. The small brush provided allows you to get right into the inner corner and is good for creating a flick on the outer corner of the eye. I don't wear contact lenses but it's good to know for those of you that do it's safe for that. I cannot speak highly enough of this product it's amazing! SHADES AVAILABLE: To start with it was only available in black but I've since purchased it in brown which is nice for a softer look. HOW TO APPLY: * DEFINED LOOK Define - In small strokes, glide liner across lash line from inner to outer corner * DRAMATIC LOOK Define - In small strokes, glide liner across lash line from inner to outer corner. Enhance - Extend and thicken line from outer corner up towards brow; wing out for extra drama. THE PACKAGING: The liner comes in a small glass pot with a silver screw top. The shape of the container allows you to get every bit of the product out so you can get your moneys worth! VALUE FOR MONEY: A fantastic product that is available for a fantastic price of £7.99! It's great value for money and if you keep an eye out in Boots it's sometimes on 3 for 2 which is even better!
- INTRODUCTION AND RECOMMENDATION A beautifully formed creamy gel eyeliner that comes in an attractive packaging, with a stunning brush to help glide a smooth application. It maybe small but it lasts an extremely long time. It is claimed to be 24hr eyeliner but I have found this to be waterproof, I have even worn it in the shower and it is pretty much as it was before the shower, with slight unnoticeable fading! I adore this product and came across it when I was doing various training, on my Make-up artistry course, I have used this product ever since and it is so far my favourite and I've used many, in training and personally myself. I have found when putting a little bit too much on or if I make a mistake to quickly wipe away with my finger whilst it is still a little tacky. Generally quick to dry, stays and an overall stunning product. Highly recommend this product and have had no irritation with using the soft brush and gel, easy clean brush, amazed! They state: * Oil-free formula holds highly concentrated pigments in a clear gel base * Smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours * Most intense line for lasting drama * Safe for sensitive eyes and ophthalmologist-tested * Contact lens safe - EYELINERS Eyeliner comes in various different colours, styles and forms, which includes gels, pencils and liquids. Eyeliners are used to enhance eyes, from a small faint line under the eyes or on top of the eyelids or even dramatic swirled patterns surrounding the eye area. (I personally find that pencil eyeliners can be harsh to the eyelids and liquids don't tend to dry as quickly so easily smudged - gel is perfect for me and you can apply over the same area you have been over without it wiping away.) - UK PACKAGING (other countries vary) This product comes in an unusual style packaging; a long silver, pyramid shaped, cardboard pack, with a pierced hole for stores to hang it on display. It had a picture of an eye-lined eye, brush and the pot itself, with the selected colour listed on it, the title reads: Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24hr. - WHAT'S INCLUDED This packet contains a tiny 2.8g tub of gel eyeliner in a stunning little glass pot with a strong aluminum foil lid with Maybelline New York in white on the front. It also contains a specially designed brush which has a sleek, stylish, black design labelled Maybelline New York with a plastic tube style lid to it. - AVAILABILITY AND PRICE This product is available from many stores, from supermarkets, drug stores and online shops. It can be found from £5.40-£12 depending on where you choose to purchase it from. On average it can be bought for £7.99 (as of May 2013) - COLOURS/SHADES It comes in a four colours/shades at the moment, brown, charcoal, eggplant and blackest black, most places mainly sell the black but this is my ideal choice of liner. - EASE OF USE The brush that is provided is beautiful to use, light and soft, yet still gives a perfect line. You can apply as little or as much that is needed to give effect you desire. TIP A tip to make applying eyeliner easier - is to rest your elbow on to a hard surface such as a table when applying to help keep it even and straight.
I really like my eyes, so I really like to make them stand out by using a dramatic black eyeliner. I constantly drew on thick lines with pencil when I was younger, only to look like a panda an hour after applying. I'm not a fan of liquid eyeliner so I thought I'd try this. It's not the cheapest (around £8 in most places) but it's definitely worth the money if you want a bit of drama. It comes in a tiny pot (not necessarily too small, though) with a flat brush included. Applying this is very different to applying either pencil or liquid eyeliner, I find. As you're using a flat brush instead of a pointed applicator. It goes on jet black and stays jet black for hours which is a definite plus, especially on a night out which is when you're most likely to use it. It can be applied all around the eye, even on the water line without running which again, made me love it. With this eyeliner, a little goes a long way which is good because as I mentioned earlier, you don't get much of it.
This is my favorite eyeliner. I bought this due to a friends recommendation and the reviews in the media. The eyeliner comes in a fogged glass pot with a silver metal lid and small tipped brush. I love this eyeliner due to its high pigmentation. I love to do the winged eyeliner look and find this works the best as it gives a very black smooth line. Due to the gel consistency i feel it has the smoothest line out of all the eyeliners available on the market. The lasting power is also very good, i apply it in the morning and find i do not need to reapply it at all during the day, nor does it melt and leave these horrible black smudge marks under your eyes. When applying it you only need to apply a very small amount of gel to the brush as a little bit goes a very long way. The brush which is supplied with it is very thin and it perfect for creating the winged look, with a very thin line. It blends very well with other make up and i find it does not crack away without removing it with makeup remover. Overall i would definitely recommend this eyeliner as it lasts a long period and offers brilliant quality
Today I'm going to review makeup product, which I unfortunately found very disappointing. I really like eyeliner and I think it's one of the best and interesting makeup cosmetic. I used to use eyeliners in pencil until I saw how popular small jars become. Suddenly many liquid eyeliners appeared on market and I was tempted to get one for a small change. Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner drawn my attention in a shop with its silver black packet and also small brush inside, included. I decided to give it a go and bought it for around 10GBP. When I went back home I couldn't wait to try this product; I opened it and I fell in love in this small, cute jar with an eyeliner inside. Also I loved the small brush, nicely made and comfortable to hold. At first time I loved this eyeliner and I thought I found something amazing to wear and apply. It was extremely black, easy to apply with this precise brush, not creamy but not thick - perfect consistency. I used that few times and I was always very careful to close the jar and clean it to avoid product drying. Unfortunately this Extremely Black Drama didn't last so long as it says. After less than hour I've had it imprinted on my eyelid, which looked quite sloppy. I had to make corrections many times in a day and I felt my makeup is not on its place. This Lasting Drama is lasting but in completely different form than it's applied on eyes. It seems like it doesn't dry, so every time I touch my eye it smudges. It doesn't stay on place and after few hours it looks messy and awful, so you just want to remove that as soon as you coming back home. Another thing is its consistency after few months from purchase. As I said it was perfect on the beginning, but terrible after 3-4 months. I opened it today to use it, and was shocked because it looks like a shoe polish - dry, thick, grey black and hard to apply! It is unbelievable because I think cosmetic like that should last minimum a year especially that I cared about it and didn't leave it open or not covered. Every time I try to use it it's harder and I think next time I'll just bin it and go buy another eyeliner, because it is terribly messy and application now is a nightmare! I'm shocked because it's first such bad product from Maybelline I have. Only one positive thing about all this product is this small brush inside. It's good quality and very precise so I really like to use it with many different products. But unfortunately I didn't pay that money to get only brush, but I paid for the eyeliner that I hoped to use for a long time. I won't recommend it to anybody, I'll even say stay away from this product if you don't want to apply shoe polish on your eyelids:/
I first got this as a Christmas present, I'd always been a pencil girl, for this gift i will forever be in my aunt's debt - i love it! I absolutely swear by this mascara i think its awesome. For me, the application is quick, easy and convenient. It slides on smoothly and you never have to worry about sharpening anything! The colour is very intense and bold, which can be hard to come by with a pencil as I have found they always smudge and are not quite black. But this Maybelline product gives me exactly what I want, a bold black colour without sharpening or scratching my eyelids. It removes easily too, a little water or a make up remover wipe and its gone! That definitely makes crawling into bed after a night out a little easier. I find that it stays on very well too, I tend to set my foundation with a loose translucent powder before applying the eyeliner and then i avoid all potential unsightly smudging issues. No panda eyes over here! One aspect of the product i will criticise is the brush that's included isn't great for a fine line because its got quite thick bristles so i would recommend either buying a smaller brush or hanging onto one of those teeny weeny ones you get with most liquids so use with this eyeliner. For application I recommend you use it quite sparingly as it is a gel and therefore quite thick so even if it looks like there isn't an awful lot on the brush there probably is! The little pot seems to last absolutely ages too, I've been using it daily and religiously since Christmas 2011 and I've only been through 2 pots which you wouldn't guess when you see how little they are! In my opinion, for their long lasting use, dramatic effect and affordable advice I think it's great value and I routinely recommend to a friend.
***Why did i purchase it?*** I previously used MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and once it had dried out after 4 months decided that I needed to find a more economical option as £14 for 4 months was quite expensive and I wasn't even using it on a daily basis. I wandered into Superdrug to purchase an inexpensive gel liner and was happy to come across the Maybelline Eyestudio on offer as there was a 2 for £10 (RRP £7.99) and also purchased the Collosal mascara (which I'll review later). The gel liner comes in two uninspired shades Black and Brown but then again I generally tend to stick with Black as it's more adaptable. ***What do you get?*** Well the liner is contained in something similar to a glass inkwell pot with a metal screw lid and also comes with a rather good brush which was a pleasant suprise as I was expecting it to be pretty crap to be honest. This is another bonus as the MAC Fluidline does not come with a brush and you have to fork out an additional £16 if you desire the MAC eyeliner brush. The pot contains 3g of the gel liner which is the same amount you get from MAC and one tip that I recommend is to store the pots upside down to preserve them as this prevents evaporation. ***So what is the product like to apply?*** The gel liner applies smoothly to both the waterline and the eyelid/undereye and provided you don't over saturate the brush you can get as fine or thick a line as you want with plenty of definition (no smudging). The pigmentation of this gel liner is absolutely fantastic and once the gel is on the eyes there is no difference as far as I can tell in the black tone between that of MAC or Maybelline. As for the long-lasting claim I really cannot disagree with their claim as I find that the liner stays put and doesn't smear on the eyelids but then again I do not have particularly oily lids so cannot state whether this would be the case for oily skin types. ***Would I buy it again?*** Definitely! (Even at RRP) The gel liner has really held up well and hasn't deteriorated over time like the MAC fluidline and I can honestly state it's an easy liner to apply so I have tended to use it more frequently and it's an essential for those of us who like the flick lined eye with red lips look (Think Marilyn Monroe).
